I guess now that winter is over, time to catch up.
March was especially cold but I’m sure the northern members know all too well. A freezing March was followed by allergy April. Not a great time especially when you have the trees I’m allergic to right next to shop.
First order of business was to replace the blower motor on the Tahoe.
it was nice to be able to do this in the house garage, while it rained. Dummy me didn’t think to thoroughly look at the new motor. After getting everything thing buttoned up, I had an extra wire. Oops, I had to transfer the ground from the old motor. 
. Another project that kept me away was filling in where the builder had put a planting bed. I wanted to be able to mow with out going into the street. 
So I could saving my tool money, I robbed the sod from the backyard where a future sidewalk will go. 
Another quick project was to fix the back door handle on Tahoe. The bolt that holds the handle backed out. I’m thinking that it bolt would still be in door, but noooooo, they have to put a huge drain hole in door. Trip to parts house fixed that.
. That catches things up to May so stay tuned, there’s going to be a safety session soon.

Not a whole lot of shop time. The enablers from down south did some more enabling.
The C&G tag team found this sale and I ended up with 3 power tools. Ummm, how did that happen? First is a stout Rockwell disc/belt sander. This thing runs great. Only missing part is the end shroud.
The second item is a vintage CM bandsaw that matches the DP I got from Gerard. The table pivot bracket is broke but I know people that knows a person who is a master aluminum casting master. Side note, luckily Gerard’s sawzall had a dull blade so post is still in one piece. Lol
The last item couldn’t come at a better time, a CM horizontal bandsaw. I’ve been looking at various types of metal saws so this makes the decision easy.

Rolling back a few months, here are some things I’ve been working on other than getting car primed.
If you remember a while back I showed two projects repurposed from lunchroom tray carts, the welding cart and metal cutoff cart. Having a couple more, I decided to make a multipurpose cart. First task was cutting a repurposed bench top into shelves.
then I used a nail to secure them. 
with this, I now have a battery, jack stand, floor jack cart. 
Another one weekend project turned into a years time is the heat water tank.
I have a small on demand that needs a mounting plate, a 120v outlet and plumbing reroute. First up is electrical and April’s safety lesson. As you can see in the picture there are two conduits, one 120, the other 220 for compressor. I ensured the 120 circuit was turned off at the panel. I opened the J-box and commenced with cutting wires. Black, check. White, POW! WTF!!!! How did that happen? It’s the 220 circuit. Oops. 
this isn’t going as planned. I spliced the wires back together (correctly) and clearly marked the cover. on the plus side, I found this bad outlet in the 120 circuit.

The finished project. 
this water heater works great. Less than 30 seconds to get hot water at sink or shower.
Since the SL is still in need of priming, I set up my work cart with the items needed for finish sanding and paint. Glad I remembered to disassemble the new HF spray gun. They’re not kidding about grease
With this complete, there’s to much stuff in the bay where I’m going to spray so let’s clean it up. I’m getting closer.

Stewart, you have confirmed my belief that turning power off at the breaker isn't enough. I always try to short out the wires in the box with insulated pliers. I think it's better to expect the POP and not get it than the other way around.
Everyone needs more space and I found two solutions to jackstand storage. Four of mine are stored under the old Corvette and the other four are stored in a 1x10-inch deep, 30-inch wide cabinet with three bottle jacks. It's not a real useful shelf because there are two 1/2-inch galvanized air lines passing through the space. You might want to flip those two stands upside down so the others can be moved a little away from the edge of the shelf. Just a thought.
