Everyone kept telling me it was cheaper to buy a welding cart.
It's like a mans right of passage to build his own cart, good on you

Overbuilt??......nawww, but if you added a roll cage she'd be a class 8 ride fur sure.

I learned the dangerous way on my MIG. I had been an OK stick weldor for some time but my first MIG project was a pressure blaster fabricated from an empty 20 LB propane bottle. I cut a hole in the bottom, MIGGED in a pipe ******, added an axle and a handle. Been using it for about 20 years. My pressure test was to put the thing out behind the garage and run a hose all the way around the building so I had a solid wall between me and the tank, then I ran it up past the typical pressure I'd be using. Crude? Yup. Effective, so-far!
No good pictures right now. My latest project has been to build 4 , 8" high cribs that I can put the wheels of my truck up on to give me ground clearance to maneuver under the truck with a creeper. I seem to gravitate towards welding projects that can't afford to fail in use.

Made a rear hitch for my Husky (MTD) garden tractor.

Hitch hangs from the factory shoulder bolts on the sides that are used to attach factory rear ground engaging attachments. Single bolt at the bottom at the old hitch pin location anchors hitch in place. Added additional hitch pin hole to still be able to pull the small garden trailer. Used some robust angle I had laying around and bought the hitch receiver.

Design was completely by eye and continuous process of cut and removal. Now onwards to blasting, prime, and paint.

Hitch is quite stout!

Since we're on the topic of tractor hitches, here's one I finished for my neighbor Saturday. Some of my welds are pretty rough on this project, but it's already stood up to a major stress test when the neighbor I built this for tried to lift the front end of his 30' gooseneck horse trailer. The bucket flexed a ton when he tried to lift it. Then he only had the ball 3/4 the way out when he backed up, boy the trailer jumped. Not a crack in sight. Not bad for a 110v welder running .030" wire.

Yes and no. Its ours but its a 2004 Gran Marquis Ultimate Edition but column shift automatic. It has 70k and change in mileage. Was my mother in law's car but she passed away several months back. Need to get it sold.

Those wheels are the only exterior tell of the LSE package for 2003. Wasn't aware they used those after 03.

In this market, I'd say you could probably get $6,000 for it easily. There's still low mileage cars out there and they seem to sell quick when they're priced under $5,000.

So my boss at work (fabrication shop) does fire-rings and fire-pits for cash on the side. A good friend recently got married and they bought a house and I mentioned this fact when they were looking at China-made options, one thing led to another, work made me the parts and I welded everything in my basement and I think it turned-out pretty good! I can't take credit for the art work but I did help facilitate and tweak things before everything was laser cut, the leg design was mine as well. I have more photos if you want to see amateur fabricobbling

Quick one out of 2x2 tubing to haul our canoe. Used a boat trailer roller and it’s easy to load solo (it’s surprisingly heavy for a 14.5’ canoe)

My version of an aero creeper. Put a four post lift in the garage but can only get the ramps up to 48 in due to ceiling height. Looked at creeper seats and liked the aero creeper used for small airplanes. Didn't want to spend close to 500.00 on a seat, so I built my own version. Theirs locks at I think 10 heights. Mine will lock at any height. Been using it now for removing the transmission from my Thunderbird. Works like a charm.

I made a bbq pit from 1/8" scrap steel from the scrapyard.... It was rusty and laying on the dirt so the pieces had a slight warp. I bought 3 pieces each was 11" wide and between 94-96" long.... I paid $0.75/lb for it in cdn pesos.

Final size was 32"x32"

2nd project with my Hobart handler 120...mig with co2/argon

The legs were new angle iron from HomeDepot... i think 1"x1", I cut the same angle on both ends of the 1st piece it's about 8" long, and then transferred those cuts to the other pieces of angle...

I made it only 3 legs so it wouldn't teeter, but in hindsight, I think 4 legs might be better... There are scraps about 2"x2" of the 1/8" material for the feet so it won't dig into the grass... I will be setting a small base of patio stones in the grass on it's final location....

Well...I guess this is kind of like welding on a much smaller scale. OK...it's soldering but still fun. Got a commission to make a business card holder to mimic an old one he had from like 30 years ago. So I modernized it a bit and put some flat screen monitors on his desk, keyboard and mouse and an iPhone. The sign on the wall is a duplicate of his sign outside his business.

made this gun rest for long range target shooting. its adjustable from about 7" to around 12" or so with 1/2" increments. material cost $12 from local metal warehouse and still ive got about 3' left over

I'm in the process of making a log/lumber trailer for my ATV
(wheels are on the wrong way on the photos for painting access)
Length can be adjusted from just over 2m from hitch to bogie center to 3m when needed

...because you just never know when you might need to pull a bulldozer out of a muddy ditch with your lawn tractor----it's always best to over-build.

Not bad for the time you have in. Maybe let your puddle wet a little more, looks like kinda like cold lap on the edges of the weld.

Since I went with the heavy duty on the bigger trailer ,I decided to run the same size on both. It took 2 years of having the smaller wheels on sale at the local gas station, but finally sold them so I did not lose any more there.

copy of a O.E.M unit but more beef .

4x4x1/4 square tube center . 2"tube cut and passed threw . 3.5x6x5/16 L-iron sides . 5/8" d-rings 18,000 lbs and 1/4" chunk for light plug .

Got 1/5th the price of big name units . More beef over them .

Finish it tomorrow after i get hardware and bolt up the side plates and them burn it in for good .

Might even do some 45* side braces to the back of the hitch and corners of the side plates .

Bolted the parts all up to the truck to use as a jig . Then burned 50% on the truck and let cool . Pulled it and finish welded the unit on the bench . Next was 2 coats of rustoleum spray paint . She is drying now and be installed tomorrow.
