Finally after years and years I sat down and made a magnetic TIG torch holder.
Simple and effective, looks good

Finished up the paint on my new welding cart 2 weeks ago. Part BMW white and GM Black. I think it came out alright.

A welding job to help my welding-jobs do more welding jobs:

In the 80's some people worked to buy coke, then they took more coke, to work more, to buy more cokeI like the way you worded that.
I have told my wife that we mechanics are not the brightest of individuals in the sense that we spend money buying tools to do more work, then have to do more work to pay for the tools.
It's a cycle I tell ya.![]()

Hopefully drywall is on the top of the list, that could get ugly!
BD1 nice work
Had to make more silverware Dragonflies. Did a art/craft show and sold out. I had a dozen made and everyone wanted them. $15.00 each and I can do at least 4 a hour. I made a bird too. I think that will be a good seller.
Nice,
What did you use for the Eyes, Ball bearings?
.

Nice welds, would be a good job for a rotator, still looks good though
Good looking TIG welds.
what is this? i see heat exchangers
I have no real reason to think this, other than it doesn't pass the eye test for me..lol But I would probably talk him into building a tongue for the trailer instead. My neighbor asked if I could help his friend out with some kind of trailer hitch to get an old pull behind camper home. Interesting part was, he said the ball had to be 36+ inches off the ground.
I used 2x2x1/4 and 3/4 plate. He was very pleased and thrilled with how well it handled for the 2 hour trip home. This is a temp hitch, I am going to be adding some bracing that will either be welded or bolted from the bottom of the hitch to the hitch frame.
Its a pretty neat camper, only weighs 2200 pounds. It was made for a small pickup and get this, its an old septic tank.

Is he going to tow a fifth wheel trailer as a tow behind?
This hitch was just to get it home. See below

Just thinking a tongue coming from the bottom frame of the trailer would be a lot more stable while towing?
You could even ad a tongue storage box under the overhang.
EDIT- On second thought that might actually make it tippy huh? Tell the guy to get a pickup..lol
Thanks 9That is what I suggested as soon as I saw him pull up, hah but its also what others have done, building a frame and tongue so he can hook it up to his standard hitch.
We are discussing future modifications for the hitch. His schedule will not open until August and he's not in any rush as he has the smaller model without a 5th wheel.
I agree, it will get a tippy. From a quick glance underneath the axle could be moved forward. But again this will all be discussed in August and see what path he would like to go. Should be interesting to say the least.
He actually brought up about getting a pickup haha
Just make sure the torque is balanced ok.
It scares the daylights out of me when I see a brotruck with a 10" drop hitch towing a 10k lbs skid steer on a 2500 lbs trailer. Sure, normally you only have 500lbs of tongue weight on hitch maybe 8" out from the hitch bolts. Ok, 330 ft-lbs of torque on the hitch, no big deal. But, when somebody pulls out in front of him and he has do an emergency stop, and there is maybe 0.5G's of acceleration on the trailer, then now there is 10000 ft-lbs of torque on the hitch. That's a lot. I guess it depends on how well the trailer brakes are matched. I still think it's a bad idea to tow with a large drop hitch, but I see it all the time.
