The fenders might be able to use a little work.

That's a "stout" truck, I like it! Is that Lincoln a diesel? I had one for years, that thing would run all day on less than 5 gallons of fuel.

No, it's a 200 gasser. I have used the 250 diesel though. It was super thrifty and ran well. I was first day on the job with an outfit and they ran it out of fuel. I said, don't panic, bled it, started right up. It was a long time ago, don't recall how we fueled it but ran it a day or 2 and don't remember putting any in. They might have had a laborer do it.
Seems I used another one along the way somewhere. I actually have 2 200's.

A welding job to help my welding-jobs do more welding jobs:

I like the way you worded that.

I have told my wife that we mechanics are not the brightest of individuals in the sense that we spend money buying tools to do more work, then have to do more work to pay for the tools.:headscrat

It's a cycle I tell ya.

Hopefully drywall is on the top of the list, that could get ugly!

Ha. My dad's workshop has never had the insulation covered. We're just now getting to it. It has never been a problem.

Added a removable vise to my welding table, can also be used in the trailer hitch of a truck.

Had to make more silverware Dragonflies. Did a art/craft show and sold out. I had a dozen made and everyone wanted them. $15.00 each and I can do at least 4 a hour. I made a bird too. I think that will be a good seller.

What did you use for the Eyes, Ball bearings?

Yes , I used 3/8'' ball bearings . I drill holes for the balls and plugweld . The weld gives the eyes a neat look and no exposed welds on top.
Amazon had them as a '' add on item '', super cheap. $3.73 for 250.
their prices always fluctuate and just happen to find them .
I mentioned before I get my silverware at Goodwill for $0.10 each, yep a dime.
I use spoon handles for the wings and then I the spoon part for the bird. No wasted parts. The handles sell better than the knife blades for wings.
When you cut off the knife blade, use the handle for a key ring. Cut to length, usually about 3'' or a little longer, drill hole, and add key ring. I give them away with purchase or offer them to the young girls as self defense weapon.

My neighbor asked if I could help his friend out with some kind of trailer hitch to get an old pull behind camper home. Interesting part was, he said the ball had to be 36+ inches off the ground.

I used 2x2x1/4 and 3/4 plate. He was very pleased and thrilled with how well it handled for the 2 hour trip home. This is a temp hitch, I am going to be adding some bracing that will either be welded or bolted from the bottom of the hitch to the hitch frame.

Its a pretty neat camper, only weighs 2200 pounds. It was made for a small pickup and get this, its an old septic tank:wtf:.

I have no real reason to think this, other than it doesn't pass the eye test for me..lol But I would probably talk him into building a tongue for the trailer instead.

Just thinking a tongue coming from the bottom frame of the trailer would be a lot more stable while towing?

You could even ad a tongue storage box under the overhang.

EDIT- On second thought that might actually make it tippy huh? Tell the guy to get a pickup..lol

Is he going to tow a fifth wheel trailer as a tow behind?

This hitch was just to get it home. See below

That is what I suggested as soon as I saw him pull up, hah but its also what others have done, building a frame and tongue so he can hook it up to his standard hitch.
We are discussing future modifications for the hitch. His schedule will not open until August and he's not in any rush as he has the smaller model without a 5th wheel.
I agree, it will get a tippy. From a quick glance underneath the axle could be moved forward. But again this will all be discussed in August and see what path he would like to go. Should be interesting to say the least.
He actually brought up about getting a pickup haha

Just make sure the torque is balanced ok.

It scares the daylights out of me when I see a brotruck with a 10" drop hitch towing a 10k lbs skid steer on a 2500 lbs trailer. Sure, normally you only have 500lbs of tongue weight on hitch maybe 8" out from the hitch bolts. Ok, 330 ft-lbs of torque on the hitch, no big deal. But, when somebody pulls out in front of him and he has do an emergency stop, and there is maybe 0.5G's of acceleration on the trailer, then now there is 10000 ft-lbs of torque on the hitch. That's a lot. I guess it depends on how well the trailer brakes are matched. I still think it's a bad idea to tow with a large drop hitch, but I see it all the time.

After years of making do, welding on concrete slabs or steel sawhorses or toting whole projects to someone else’s shop, I decided to build a solid, adaptable welding table of my own. I would LOVE to have a big Baileigh welding jig table, but I don’t have pockets that deep for something that doesn’t support my primary profession. I would have loved a Certiflat table and that was the plan – until I spent the money I had saved for that on an X-Carve upgrade…

I had rolled a couple designs of my own around in my head for years and while at a salvage yard looking for a specific steel, I found a very old and very tired work table with a steel frame, steel castors on one end, and wooden top that needed burning. I paused. I had to do something with 4-5 welding projects at home looming. I decided then and there that I could work with the pile of awkward wood and steel and parted with $25 to take it home. I called Specialty Metals in Kent, WA the next day about sheet steel pricing. I phoned them up at exactly the right time: They had a remnant piece of .5” steel from a larger job on super sale that was almost perfect. They agreed to the steel, to make the two needed cuts, and to plasma cut the holes in the top I wanted for pennies shy of $100. A smoking deal! I sketched it all up, sent it over to them, and a couple of weeks later, it was done. I hauled it home, turned the welder WAY up and tacked the top onto the base. More additions are planned, but here is the link to the build video because I have no clue on how to embed the video directly...
