That was my first thought. I shouldn't have added that 1/2" nonsense. Lol.That one is a countersink.

Even though that head isn't long C...the label is still decent! I would have picked this up just because of the handle itself. Nice find.Such a fickle hobby. I've found probably on the order of a half-dozen Long C ball-pein hammers over the years, all made by Vlchek, all with really nice markings, and nary a one of 'em had a handle with a Craftsman decal. Now I find a handle with a Craftsman decal (or what's left of it, anyway, which is not too bad) - and the 12-oz. ball-pein hammer head that is on the end of it is not a Craftsman. Sometimes, you just can't win.

Good find, Outlaw. I have one. Posted photos in the MegaVise thread, linked here, back in 2018, and I posted that link here in your thread as well (#649, page 17). I was thinking Palmgren as the OEM, but mine has a "CM" (or "MC") monograph I could never figure out. Does yours have any mark like that?A new Long C find! a 2-1/2" Long C Craftsman DP vise,
And I might even have one left around here I can switcheroogie!
Just figures it's a 2-lber with an eye that would drown this handle. I will likely flip it eventually or hang onto it long enough for another 12-oz head to come along at one of my fleas in need of an original handle.Yup. Use the force Lugz, and switch heads!

I finally finished cleaning up my amber handle hacksaw I bought over 2 years ago. Cleaned up pretty well for its age!
My saw is BB vendor listed as well. I didn’t check out the manufacturer yet but that’s really interesting about Dons saw. I don’t believe that Sears was sourcing from Japanese suppliers at that time though? Wonder if maybe that bf code was used multiple times?I haven't been following amber hacksaw trends, but these two are obviously from different eras (unlikely) or different manufacturers. The one I found recently (and have yet to clean up...) is like Smoke's. It has a BB code after USA which I don't find in lauver's list while Don's BF would indicate Japanese origin which doesn't jibe with Made in USA. Any thoughts?
BL was a Sargent for Craftsman Code
BB was a Millers Falls for Craftsman Code
Argh, tex got in first
Thank you! I knew it had to be a big time manufacturer!
Likely this newer Atkins #10. Looks like a pretty close match.Possible that BF is an Atkins #10?

I remembered seeing this hammer in a catalog once while looking for something else a while back. I just happened to pick the fall of 1939 Sears catalog, and it was in it. It was called the Dunlap Lifetime hammer, and it only appeared in that catalog. I think the reason why was because a 16 oz. Craftsman claw hammer cost $.98 and this cost $1.25.
That is a weird hammer that I haven’t seen before but glad it got identified by the catalog year!
Uhhh, why did you not buy that? That’s a good one!
Al valid points! I would say that this is something that a long c collector would probably pay $60 for? It’s that niceYes, it is. My first thought, before reading the price, was “that would go well with my two C’man auger sets.” But my actual job has me less sanguine about my intended retirement hobbies, so
1. a photo was $30 cheaper.
2. I have a milk crate full of $1-$5 bit braces, if I wanted to use one.
3. I’m not trying to build an underline collection.
4. I visit things in antiques stores just to get a pulse on the market. A lot of things sit for years. I expect this to be where I saw it for months.
