FAQs Answer
I would like to know if your tool products are made in the United States?

All Snap-on® branded hand tools are made in the USA. Snap-on is on record as being a strong supporter of maintaining the integrity of the "Made in USA" label when the Federal Trade Commission was considering relaxing the standards.

Well that's obviously true, then... :FIREdevil

Got some "Supercuff" gloves from SO the other day.. Made in China.
SO's battery powered tools line? Made in China.

Their new mini cordless screwdriver ( http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item...group_ID=19915&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog ) is selling WAY beyond expectations according to my dealer. By that measure, apparently at least *alot* of SO customers could careless where it's made. Therefore SO is going to move more and more towards the east. Their ******** hand tools may never go there, but it seems everything inbetween will. I bet my techwrench is from Taiwan, I couldn't find USA on it, but they hid the origin of it very well, which is never a good sign.

There's no way I would ever buy anything from Snap-on that was made in China/Taiwan; the good boat Titanic would float to the surface first. :cool:

Flashback to December 2007:
I'd never buy another single tool from them ever again. :(

I'm yanking your chain slightly, but it does show a real problem, you have to buy quality tools from somebody, and nobody is going to suddenly decide not to source from Taiwan and/or China :(

Here's a controversial statement for a Friday morning: Danaher, in sourcing the GearWrench line in relatively free and 'civilised' Taiwan and in the US, and openly admitting GearWrench to be Taiwanese made, could be seen to be behaving in a more morally upright fashion than Snap-on, who have built a factory on the Chinese mainland but continue with their clearly, at best, misleading claims of country of origin.

*:shocking: INCOMING ! :shocking:*

This thread depresses me as well. I fear that one day all of the tools made by "American" companies will be made overseas in sweatshops or worse. Globlization ain't it great?

* Drive Tools
* Wrenches
* Screwdrivers
* Pliers
* Punches and Chisels

As long as they keep making the above in the USA, I'll be happy.

Other thing the snap on tools only last longer cause they cost lots of money, and as u have spent lots of your children money you will try to take a good care of them buying expensive tool box oiling and all that, thats why snap on makes billions of dollars in profits every year, while you struggle to keep up with your mortgage. One tip, buy a good cheap tool and take the same care as you take with your snap on ones and see how long does it last! Rodrigo
