Looks to me like it accidentally met a torch. I guess that COULD have happened under care of the postal service, but I’m not buying it. Where is the rest of it?I found the original pictures of the broken 3/8" ratchet. Another person wanted this ratchet and I sent it on for just the shipping cost.
Hey thanks man! It is in great shape! I think I'm missing 1 or 2 pieces, like an extention or a swivel? I found it on FB marketplace actually.@JjKk40 that Vi-Chrome set is real nice.![]()
Something like minePicked this up a few months ago for a 2 dollars at an estate sale.
Need to find the ignition pliers.
Yours is much nicer!! Very nice!Something like mine
My set is all original to what I got in 1983 except for the folding ignition wrench and the 4” Channellock pliers. I found those on eBay.Yours is much nicer!! Very nice!

Ooohhh that is niceWhile I came home with a few other things from my trip to Twertsy's Tool Temple, the 1914-1915 C.E. Jennings made wooden chest with the BONNEY VISE & TOOL WORKS brass tag probably tops the list. I immediately made some space for it next to my Bonney wrench board and put some period pieces and other curios inside it. I am toying with the idea of lining the compartments with black felt, although I would not glue it.

Can you post a picture of said ratchet? I'm not as familiar with all the older styles, but have some old rats sitting around and can look to see if I have one that matches. No guarantees.Does anybody knows where I can get a kit for Bonney V701 ratchet? I can possibly get one but the ratchet skips per description and will need a kit.
Interesting obstruction wrench. Do you know anything about it; application, year manufactured, maker? While I came home with a few other things from my trip to Twertsy's Tool Temple, the 1914-1915 C.E. It's a Bonney No. 2573. I have a number of these wrenches from the Special Chevy tools page in the 1933 catalog, but this is the only one with the early fancy italicized full Chrome Vanadium name bracketing the (CV) logo, so it's probably earlier.Interesting obstruction wrench. Thank you, JjKk40I doubt you'll find a kit for that 701. Have you disassembled it and cleaned it all the way down? Most times its just dirty and in need of some light oil. These style use a sliding pawl if I remember correctly and dirt will cause it to bind and skip. Post back results if you do it.
That retaining ring and drive end look awful similar to SK. If you have an SK 40970 laying around you may just check and see. I am not aware of any cross-breeding between Bonney and SK but stranger things have happened.
That Ford wrench is for Model A, not v8. Should be 9/16” square drive. It is not a necessary wrench, but nice to have. It holds the bolt heads while the nuts are torqued. The other oddball in that drawer is a No. 2588 for holding Ford V8 main bearing nuts. The only other one I remember seeing is HeelSpur's way back in 2017 (Page 21/ Post #817).
I checked: early v8s did in fact use the same wrench. That Ford wrench is for Model A, not v8. Should be 9/16” square drive. It is not a necessary wrench, but nice to have. It holds the bolt heads while the nuts are torqued.
I wonder if anybody has V701 and can post the picture of the insides...
Here’s mine. As shown in the link to the earlier era discussion, this is the type where the selector slides a bar side-to-side to engage the teeth and provide ratcheting action.

That is a nice find. Blue Point made one, also. Here‘s one I don’t see in this thread. Found it at my first targeted stop yesterday, got it with a handful of other goodies. Will add to the GS sale later. Bonney 2126 carburetor and distributor adjustment tool. I don’t see it in any Bonney catalogs, but it shows up in the 1966 Herbrand catalog. I understand there was a buyout somewhere along the line, guessing about 1967. This thing is supposedly made to work on Holley carbs, something I never had the pleasure of owning. The nut downstream of the handle loosens to allow the handle to slide along the straight length of the handle. The knob at the far end turns, and turns the square drive on the far end. I did not get any of the official attachments, but there was a TM85 Snap-on centering flat blade screwdriver on it.
