jeeps1 that is some beautiful work.
I would like to ask a general question. Could a whole pig be cooked in a smoker such as you built or would anything have to be different? Such as a rotisserie or more direct heat (fire)?

Yes you can definitely cook a pig . The baffle plate gives off plenty of radiant heat . A revers flow smoker isnt a cold smoke smoker . I will post pictures of my first cook . If I ever get that far .:D

Got to take my grandson for his frst outing in his 1950s strollo chair . Modified by grandpa . Took him to his first auto swap meet . I did score all my steering parts for the smoker .

Amazing work and imagination jeeps! I can't express my admiration enough, esp. your eye for scrounging, scale &, hell everything!

I'm partial to the bare & weathered metal look (just as it is) do you happen to know of a clear, heat resistant finish?

I am definitely leaning that way . I did find some 2000 degree clear engine paint .
Scrounging is almost as much fun as building . Speaking of scrounging I found this hand winch at the swap meet . I am going to replicate period correct chain steering with it .

Nice work! What kind of wheels and axle are you going to put under the smoker? Then you can move it around with your yard tractor.

Your grandson is lucky to have such a grandpa. I bet he's going to learn a lot from you.

As far as the wheels go looks like I will be building them . I haven't had much luck finding old farm implement wheels in the correct size I need .
The front axle will be a center pivot and rear will have a stub axle flange'd off the fire box .

If the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen had a BBQ this is the grill they'd use.

I could also see it on the deck of a railroad museum or enthusiast.

The mill hammer looks great... as well as the wheels on the smoker. We are all waiting for our invitation to the inaugural lighting of the smoker! [emoji51][emoji106]

Had some help from my boys on the smoker , for my birthday . Did some barley twist forging for the front axle truss and machined the stand offs for the chain steering . Also put the air vents in the fire box .

I still have a ton of work left to do . Looking back I guess I started the build 2 years ago . It would appear that I enjoy metal more than meat . My neighbor asked me if i would have it finished in time to cater his wake .:headscrat

Finished up the front axle truss . I think it should prevent any bending as I expect the final weight to be around 2000 lbs 🤞😁 .
