383, your dad has put a bunch of thought into that saw. Nice! The bt3000’s have a following. I need to get back on getting mine all trued up.
Been jumping round. Got on a bike mash up assembly kick, which reminded me that I need to get the little atlas bandsaw squared up.
Need the tools to make the stuff.

Got the little Trek together and shifting nice!
I’m really enjoying the learning experience with the interchangeability of parts.
This started as an almost bare 13in Trek 3500 frame. Added the Suntour fork, levers, pedals, and front derailleur from the parts bike. The bottom bracket, headset, cranks, bar, and rear derailleur were parts I’ve scrounged around.

Latest acquisition. Older Traeger Tailgater pellet grill.
Control panel lights up, fan blows, and auger turns. Hopefully she burns. Dude said she does. We will see.

True Boiler, true.
Pulled some parts off the tiny Traeger to clean out the auger tube and get everything moving. Found a loose connection that was throwing an error code, but that will be addressed. It all seems to work. Now I need to pick up pellets and meat!

Cleaned up the Sonoma set while grilling and I’ve got a couple pieces of cast in the oven. Not sure why the set includes a zombie apocalypse blade!

Captain, if by “usual,” you mean purchased somehow somewhere in my past, than no, of course not. These where tossed for scrap. I’m waiting for a big old Dutch oven to fall in my lap.
BargainKing, I started less aggressively with a green scruffy pad, but I needed to get the process moving along. Next piece I’ll just grab the grinder and wheel.

Ding! Ding! Oh, my cast is done.
I’m pleasantly surprised at how even the color is. I’ve watched a few YouTube’s and they are constantly talking about the evenness of the color.

Of course I mean rescued from the scrap pile.

The final work in the oven looks great.

Is this you first pieces of cast iron to use?

Thanks Captain! I’ve never been a good keeper of cast. I’m ready to be a convert. Time will tell.
On to the next silly restoration. My old 90’s Doc Martens. These haven’t been on my feet in 20 years. Little moldy from poor storage over 2 decades.

Lysol wipe down, lil saddle soap scrub, and couple coats of mink oil. New insoles should arrive today.

And to you Strout! Read about your “massage gun” in your thread. Little afraid to google it.

A few months back some dude on Craig’s listed an old green Fugi. I lowballed him, of course, and we couldn’t agree. Then weeks later the girls version fell into my lap. It’s in really great shape, old, but clean. The tires are rotted, but still have the nubs. Then the dude reposts the 17in boys version again.
I had to grab it once I had the girls version for all the clean parts because I bought a green Fugi Thrill new in 1992 or 3 for $340. The plan is to strip the boys 17in down to the bare frame. Clean it up and put all the parts from the girls version. That girls version is all original and has all the same components my Fugi had.

I got screwed on the boys Fugi. Paid 40 bucks. Not worth it, but once all those original parts are on the boys frame... if I’m being honest, that 40 bucks will get ridden on the path once when it goes together and then hung up. Can’t go to scrap!

Valid question Dan. 20 years ago the shoes got relegated to the third maybe fourth string. Bumped into them the other day and it was, toss them, or clean them up and get them back in rotation. Now I’ve got some older Docs to rock.

There are lots of shoes I used to own that I wish I had done exactly that. I could retire for a couple weeks, maybe even a month on eBay sales.

383 posted up his cool Lego Batmobile in his thread, which I showed my boy. The almost 8yo boy was excited to finish up his biggest build yet. The 1,178 piece Lego Ninjago Land Bounty. Things cool, like moving parts, steering, mini vehicles. Totally recommend.

Moved some bike hooks to fit 2 more road bikes overhead. Decided to only hang one, leaving an empty slot and dragged a few bikes out to the road. Scrappers will grab em.
Then I needed a designated bike tool drawer easily accessible. Took the top drawer in the lathe bench. May even take the second.

Been on the hunt for a solid grill. Grabbed this ole Vermont Casting VM450 last night. She needs a good clean and to address some rust inside.

With grill projects on my mind I had to pull this infra red searing side burner off of a scrapped grill. The current thought is to under mount that burner in place of the classic side burner. Then just use the big stand alone burner as the burner.
Option 2 would be to mount the searing burner as a complete unit alongside the original burner. It actually looks good, but long on that side.
Option 3 would be to grab the other wing off that scrapped grill, unsure of its condition, and combine the two wings into a unit.
Thoughts?

Combining the two wings seems like it would work better, but without seeing all the pieces parts first, I don’t want to say anything. I am sure whatever you do will be great.

Got the green Fuji all combined into one. Need some brake pads and front derailleur tuning, but she’s out on the path.

And a Brooks saddle for the single speed. All the cool kids online ride Brooks.
Treated just like my shoe resto. Lysol wipe, saddle soap scrub, and mink oil.

My father and I have talked making bells for years. He surprised me with this for my birthday in January. I just got around to mounting it to the shop. It’s cool, loud, and stupid fun. I need some tanks!
