Well, it's been a bit. Things continue to move slower than I'd like... Trench for electrical is finally done, conduit and subpanel are installed, ready for wire. Water is now in the shop ready for connection to the yet to be built bathroom. Yesterday concrete was wrapped up on the apron, small stoop for the man door and a 8' x 10' ramp out the back overhead door.

Insulation is scheduled for Tuesday. Mini splits are here and are ready to be installed. Now that concrete is done, I can finish grading around the drive and building. Then it will be time to repair the yard from all the construction work. Concrete truck on Friday left some hellacious ruts!

I really do not like the aggregate finish concrete, but the guys did a pretty good job matching it. Once it pressure washed again and sealed, it should not look too bad.

Big progress Dan!

I’m not a fan of exposed aggregate concrete either. Not fun in bare feet; give me broom swept concrete anytime.

I had a subdivision that had exposed aggregate concrete for the main road and driveways. Had to give plant 7-10 days notice for them to clean out the plant if you will to load your product in that day and time only.

Wow!

I swore I saw a pad, RV dump station, water hookup, shore power, and WiFi hot spot!

Checking now Terry!

Maybe it’s inside out of the weather with the full walkin shower and laundry room!
I can't complain, Larry.
Last visit, Dan and Joy not only hooked us up with power, but fed us some awesome chow and beverages as well!

Five Stars!

Uh, did you forget my RV pad next to the shop?

There is not a pad, just going to be grass next to the shop. But there is a 50 amp 240 outlet, 15 Amp 120 outlet, hose bib and a 4" RV Dump station along the South wall. All just waiting for an RV to park there!

Dan, looking at the concrete I think I understand, however the question I have is why? I would think broomstruck finish so it matches. Please school me on why it is aggregate finish. Thanks.

Joel, sorry if I was not more clear. The existing drive to the house was exposed aggerate, so it only made sense for the new apron to the shop (which shares the existing drive) to have exposed aggerate as well. See the following picture, hope it makes more sense now. Dan

Dan, got it thanks for the explanation. Part of my question stems from thinking about adding 42x40 to my existing shop. I like what you have going on!

It's been far too long for an update. I'm just not as motivated as I need to be and I've been distracted by the project my daughter and SIL have going on.

So as of now we have a fully functional Mitsubishi Hyper-heat 15k mini Split installed by me. I originally bought two 15k units, but I'm giving one to my daughter and SIL for their converted garage living space. I think I might be able to heat and cool my 1520 sq ft due to the closed spray foam insulation. The other night, the outside temperature moved by -30 degrees, the inside temperature changed by -3 degrees!

Here's a couple of pic's of the install. I bought all the tools and a nitrogen tank to do this right and it was a easy / flawless install. Cordless flaring tool was "Awesome! "

Some of you may have seen the new sliding table saw addition to the shop. Sliding Table Saw

I still need to do the final grading. Electrical rough inspection should happen soon. Then it's on to final.

I forgot to add the painting of the overhead doors to match the Charcoal trim and wainscoting. At the time, the garage door manufacturer wanted $600 per door for a custom color ($2400 total). I decided to invest in a nice airless sprayer and paint them myself. I bought a cordless Graco QuikShot, this thing is amazing, but a pain to clean.

Most importantly was getting the jamb weather strip painted and installed prior to firing up the min-split.

So I watched a vid on your new toy. That thing is sweet Dan!

I have no idea of what your ultimate wood shop goals are or how close procurement is but I thought id throw this out. @Toolfool has or had one hell of a setup at his place in Florida. I know he was selling some of it a while back after moving to Ohio. Maybe something might work out for you both. John’s a great guy and I know he took good care of his collection.

The doors look so much better dark, excellent choice and execution. We looked at 3 houses today in Franklin, stupefying on some of the material and color choices some people make. I know, to each his own, but there are so many design tools available there's no reason why you pick bathroom tile looks like a Dalmatian dog.
