:rocker: The F4 has now been featured in Australian Street Rodding Magazine. :rocker:

I buy & advertise in that mag because of the "street rods"
maybe they need to be involved in "truck'n life" also :wtf::wtf:
(or maybe you should have driven to the Trucking Hall of Fame gathering recently....They had some 600 trucks up there............oh! sorry, 600 restored trucks. still not a street rod :lol_hitti)

:lol_hitti Hey some one had to cross the line :bounce:. May be a lot of Truckies will ask why a Rodded vehicle in 'Truckin Life.' :lol_hitti

You know I have always been one to s.t.r.e.t.c.h that line.

'Cummins Commentary' and 'Diesel Power' will be straight forward.

Not as silly as it sounds if you see some of the MACKS being Restored here I have already diversified into that market with LED lights and one of my Suppliers (So-There Speed Shop) make MACK lights.

Next time you are here I should take you to the shop that did the body work on my F4 Freighter . You may get a new customer for some of your metal work products and tools. I may have to chase you for commission :lol_hitti

I said wait.

:headscrat:headscrat:headscrat

WHAT?? someone built a "TRUCK" (what's unusual about that?)

NOW!
A Rodder who builds a Rod that is errrring on a light commercial, THAT's crossing the line :moon::moon::moon:

I was actualy talking about getting a Rodded Truck in a Truck magazine like 'Truckin Life' magazine. :p :p123 and Rocket how many commercial based rods have you seen running a CUMMINS engine :bounce: :thefinger :pimpflash or for that matter have you seen any Rods ? :bounce: From that I take it that I am crossing the line in two different ways :bounce: Commercial and Diesel :lol_hitti :lol_hitti

Are you going to put a 6bt in a morris minor. Might be tight, but dam cool to see.
:wtf::wtf::wtf: I have a friend in the US with a 400 Chev in one (and is that a wild ride), I doubt the Cummins would fit. Still would look good as Mr Bean car, pad bolt and padlock on the door :lol_hitti Oh I was refering to the other Billet Badge I have on order.

Priced an East Wind 4BT new the other day :( :rolleyes2 was over the $$$ I spent on the new 6BT I have in the Freighter now :rolleyes2 Sadly the East Wind 4BT would need a lot of changes to convert to Auto Specifications from Industrial Specifications. :( Pollution etc.

They ya go again :wtf:
Just cause the yanks call anything that is modified a Rod {that ortta stir the pot here :bounce:} it doesn't mean that it is actually one :bounce: {in Australia anyway}
You know what a Rod SHOULD be

and Rocket how many commercial based rods have you seen running a CUMMINS engine :bounce: :thefinger :pimpflash or for that matter have you seen any Rods ? :bounce:

There is a reason for THAT! (it ain't NO ROD :headscrat)
It's TRUCK!! :lol_hitti:lol_hitti
(now, if it was a truck built as a Rod (as we have been seeing a lot of these last few years) & THEN.............had a cummins in it.....................THEN you'd be talking :thumbup:{and warrant an artical in a Rodding Mag })
Just a truck on a truck chassis, truck suspension with a cummins, so I can see why it can be in a truck'n mag real easy  (oh! sorry. I forgot the rodding type lights that are on it :lol_hitti:lol_hitti

From that I take it that I am crossing the line in two different ways :bounce: Commercial and Diesel :lol_hitti :lol_hitti
Crossing the line HOW ??
A truck with a cummins is it isn't unusal :wtf::wtf:

Oh!
A little secret (which I think you know)
I wanted to build mine with all F Truck running gear under it (as in F250 with duallies. which is smaller than your F4) & the rego department deamed it to be a commercial so it wouldn't be recognised as a modified pre '48........a ROD! So therefore it wouldn't be accepted to be built within the 'National Street Rod Guidelines', so it would also have had to be "fully" engineered.
Hence, I'm building a truck but based as a Rod .................can ya see the difference ??
NOW, if I was to put that diesel in it............ that would be different :thumbup: but it would still be a Rod, not a truck.
Light commercials here in Oz seem to cause a lot of confusion with rego.
They have a 1 1/2 tonne carrying capacity cut off. once over that, it's a commercial. As soon as I mentioned the duallies, that put it over the line too :(:(:(

I am still confused as to HOW an F4 Truck (4 tonner) can be a Rod in Australia :headscrat:headscrat

Ok lets use the Term HOT ROD for anything modified.:bounce: (I hate the term Hot Rod being used that way ) All Rodders will agree a TRUE Rod is Pre 1948 / 49

I keep telling you it is a Rodded Truck, just like we have Rat Rods, Resto Rods, Pro Street Rods, Ramp Rods etc. Open your mind Rod and expand into new areas.
I keep telling you The Truck area with restoration is a BIG new market here and guys doing this have $$$and not afraid to spend it. I have seen a few Macks go through the workshop of the place that painted my (very little in comparison) F4. One reason why I now sell a lot of truck lights that are also being used on Rods as I am also selling to the Truck guys. That is interesting you point that out the lights, as most of the lights would be on Truck and not a Rod. You have just shown an example as to how I have stretched the definition as to a Rodded Trucks :p :bounce:

Now what about these ? How do you define them ?

Diamond T Truck or Rod ?

CarsinOz05042.jpg

A couple from truck owner and Rodder Tony Kuchel. ( Wish I could find a better one -finished ) How about Wings (http://www.wmin740.com/wingspage.html) in the USA as he has/had a Sleeper Cab Chev towing a radio station / enclosed trailer with a T Bucket. Sadly :( I can no longer find photos of it on the net :headscrat.

Crossing the line HOW ??
A truck with a cummins is it isn't unusal :wtf::wtf:

True, but only a basic piece of information. Can I refer to your truck and say it is just a chassis, cab, new brakes and a motor swap :bounce:
I believe it is what you have done that defines what you finish with. For example if I applied for SR permit here I would get it as the cab is 1948. + Vic Roads would have no idea what or how to define it. H Plates would be out due to the modifications. (An area about to be tidied up big time here with plate abuse and incorectly issued SR & H permits).

Wait till you see some of the HEAVY Macks being built as Hot Rod Trucks. I can see registration people running for cover with them not even knowing what they are looking at or how to define them. Some would not even know if the engine has been swapped. I wish I had a photo of the Mack I have seen as it will be wilder than the Diamond T (orange & cream) photo I posted above. :yikes:

As for Commercials and the confusion here as to how to define for registration I believe we could compare that to a car and caravan or some of those big 5th wheeler caravans or horse floats being towed by :yikes: drivers on car licenses :yikes: yet once you tow with a commercial sized truck you require a commercial type license.:wtf:

I am still confused as to HOW an F4 Truck (4 tonner) can be a Rod in Australia :headscrat:headscrat
I keep telling you I have ticked all the boxes and it passes. F1 or F4 both pre 1948. You should be doing the same with your workshop project and talk of it as a Rodded Truck.:beer: after all it is not a pickup or a Ute :dunno::lol: Perhaps you better define it workshop rod

Yes open your mind and see what others are doing. Just as I have done, I have a whole new market with Truck parts that Rodders use and visa versa. A lot of your products would be just the same with the Truck Restorers

Your not getting personal now are you Simon (a big kid:confused: that wasn't very nice :wtf:) I never called you a DOG :lol_hitti (actually, there is a nice dog thread on here, that many of them seem to be pretty smart :lol_hitti)

You build trucks & I'll continue to closed minded .............. & build Rods. mix & match componants, custom make parts & panels and try different paint ideas (at least I know what a V8 is :bounce:)

If there was a Wooden Spoon :) Smiley I would post it here for you the stirrer  I know you enjoy stirring me and all in good fun.:beer: If the comment I made about (teasing the dog) was not taken in jest as the way I intended :( Sorry.

When you are this way next allow some time as I would seriously like you to meet the fellow that painted my F4. I am sure he would be interested in many of the things you sell. He is also into V8's and has a nice Falcon GS ute he is restoring between trucks. Cummins have a nice small V8 on the market soon  maybe that would be good for your project :lol_hitti

I have shown a few the Billet Badges (Artwork only) as they are as yet to arrive and I do not know if I will use them on the F4. I have been given the idea they may be good on the signboard for the F4 or may even go on the office wall. :headscrat Will see when they arrive, hopefully this week.

I am confused as to why a 4bt would cost more then a 6bt.
Everything from the 6bt should work on the 4bt, its the same motor less 2 pistons correct?

you used a 12 valve in hotfr8 didn't you? I personally like the 2nd gen 24 valve less common rail injection, easy to get power out of them and less electronics, but the 12 valve has no electronics and i like that too.

I must have got a very good deal on the 6BT :) mind you the intercooled version of the 6BT was more expensive and would not have fitted.

Did you get the email I sent you ??? Had all the info on the 6BT.
Yes, all basic on the 12V.:) Made life easy

Not 100% happy with the Cummins one as the C should be black as in the new Cummins Corporate Logo
Cummins_logo.png

otherwise now I am also not sure if I will use them given the size. They measure 9 inches (230mm) across.

Your kidding me :wtf::wtf:
We had plenty of people through here either on the way to & the way home from the gathering in central Australia recently
(I have been there myself & blew a whole day with my mates who where all ex drivers like myself!! We just wandered around, taking it all in & reading all about the trucks of the past, especially the ones that opened up the country here....... like the self tracking trailers that use to run over all the sand hills in the centre )

Anyway, I got wind that there was some staying in the caravan park here, so on the way home I called in. One of the trucks looked very much like the semi on page 26, but it had 2 trucks on the back (not sure it was the same one, but very close) I had a chat to one of the owners, there was a few other trucks there too, including an old COE & a Fargo Pickup (note, not a Truck :lol_hitti)

Yes a great event. I was asked to take my F4 or my 4x4 International to the next one but I doubt I will be going. Would be a great drive up with a trailer towing the T Roadster in the back.

I missed a Fargo ute many years ago. now that would have been great with a Hemi or a BT Cummins.

On another note Billet Badges are going to do another Badge for me with the Cummins logo. No charge. I will show it off here when it arrives. This one could be smaller.

Just home from an event called "Picnic at Muckleford". It is a joint event with the local Tourist Railway and the local Car Clubs.

:):3gears::thumbup::deathmeta :)

Out of all the vehicles in attendance I was awarded the 'George Young Memorial Trophy' for the Freighter. One of only two trophies presented on the day. George was one of those blokes that worked hard for the Goldfields Tourist Railway and the Castlemaine Historic Vehicle club. The other trophy was public choice.

George Died earlier this year. He did a lot of work in the district to promote the car movement and the Tourist Railway.
To be the first to recieve a trophy in George's name is very much an honor.
