We are in limbo here as far as the hydro-seeding. We had a couple of days last week with some much needed rain and that kept the hydro-seeders from doing their prep work.
It was dry and hot all weekend and yesterday dawned clear and a bit cooler. I think it would have been a perfect day to get the prep work done. About noon I got an email from the builder indicating that the prep would start today.
By late afternoon yesterday the sky was darkening and we had another spasm of very gusty winds and 6-tenths of an inch of rain in a very short time.
As I expected, no hydro-seed prep was accomplished today. It is drizzling outside as I write this.
We had hoped to get the hydro-seeding done and then a final inspection on Friday. That is looking doubtful at this time.
I did acquire something for the Mezzanine yesterday.
A drafting table complete with drafting machine.
Well... actually two drafting tables complete with drafting machines.
Last week I saw a Craigslist ad for a drafting table & drafting machine not too far away from me. I sent an email asking for more information and heard nothing ...until yesterday morning.
An email arrived indicating I could come look at the table. A phone call was made and off I went, dragging my son along to act as a Sherpa should that be necessary.
The situation was a industrial operation that was selling a building. They needed this room cleared of a few things and one of these things was the drafting table & drafting machine. We walked over to the building and climbed up the stairs to the second floor. It was quite warm up there.
I looked over the table and struck a deal with the owner. Then he pointed out another table that was disassembled. "Wouldn't I like to have that one also?", he asked.
"No", I answered.
As my son and I studied the narrow exterior stairs that we were going to have to bring this monster down, the owner kept extolling the virtues of having two Drafting Tables.
He finally made an offer to sell at such a low price it was practically free. I took the bait and that's how I wound up with two of these dinosaurs.
He threw in 4 old computers as well so my son was delighted with that.
As I needed to go the doctor's office mid-afternoon - Pilot medical exam that I have to do twice a year - we came home and parked the truck in the Lone Beech Garage with all the stuff still loaded.
Today we unloaded these treasures and parked them in the woodshop. I'll play with them for a bit and then pick one to go upstairs. I'll try to sell the remaining piece. It isn't that unusual to find a drafting table but it's quite a bit harder to find one complete with a drafting machine.
Since these things are pretty heavy and bulky, I may have to offer some sort of delivery to sweeten the deal enough to make a sale.
