Great job Dave, is it keyed to the driveshaft or some other setup?

Looks like a combo of turning and rotab work (??)

It uses a pin through the hole in the release rod. No rotab. It's heavy and I didn't want to lift it. Just plunged a 3/4" em in 12 places.

Nice job on the lathe holders!

Why the 1018? Did you have some drops laying on hand? I would expect them to loose their accuracy over time due to wear.

What dovetail cutter did you use?

Nice job on the jack handle. I have one of those jacks that I really should put back into service. I need to make a U joint for the control rod as mine is busted. The jack functions other than that.

Yes, had a bunch of drops at work that were heading to the scrap bin. I dont expect much wear, they're just for my South Bend in my basement so its not like they get used constantly every day. Just used a plain old 60 degree 6 flute HSS cutter

Thanks! I have several floor jacks, including a Walker 784 and a Weaver 10T. The Walker gets the most use of the big boys because it's the lightest to drag around. When I do use the S4, though, it is nice to use. I have dreams of dolling them all up someday, but it hasn't happened yet.

Nice job. That turned out great.

Thanks! If one day, I get the model of the original knob finished up, I might have the computer cut one just for fun. Or, I could 3D print it. Of course, I have no use for one, as my S4 is mostly complete. Just missing the lens for the light that I've been "working on" casting for a couple years now. Still waiting for my round tuit to show up, I guess.

finally found a few hours of time at work to knock out a personal project. Whipped up this plate that I can clamp down to my workbench while working on my kid's kart race engines, makes it easier to hone, or torque bolts without these little lightweight blocks moving around.

Even engraved it so when I inevitably go senile, I'll be able to remember why I made it haha.c126ba28579fcc27882d40521eef5dd9.jpg4b8f14bae41ddd8ca95d9639232db33e.jpg

Very nice. I like custom made tooling and fixtures like this. They make me smile every time I use them.

Getting old, decided I needed an easier to read tire pressure gage for the kart track with my boy, so I made an obnoxiously large one, with a better range on the gage.76b6eb27d27c2f69b9f55b7d1792d54f.jpg

I'm assuming by made, you mean you made the valve section? What did you use for the valve and seat?

yes, super simple project, just something I've been meaning to get to for a while. Valve is just an off the shelf air bleed valve that is 1/8" NPT.

Obnoxiously large, lol. By who's standard? Beauty is in the eye etc.

My next temptation would be find an obnoxiously small tire, PVC pipe or stiff foam ring as a shock guard.
Think a tire would look best.

Try a hobby Shop for a RC tire, might not be big enough for that gauge it appears to be about 3 1/2" in diameter. Or try some surplus places for a sacrificial wheel/tire. Or you could mould one from black silicone and a carved wooden mould if you are that ambitious. Harry

Those are turning out nice. I'm assuming he'll have the dings and gouges welded up and then re-polished?

I did a similar design to my Alcoa aluminum wheels when I converted my 1988 Ford F-250 SRW into a dual rear wheel back in the 90's. Had a local machine shop turn the standard hole pattern into a directional pattern. I had a knot in my stomach cutting up brand new wheels until they were done.

thanks, i like that directional pattern as well. I dont know how much time and effort hes going to put into tidying up this one, he's got this one plus another old rim he wants cut to put on the inside of the dually, then he's ordering 4 more new Alcoa wheels to cut that will be the visible ones.
