7--very useful project.
Great job Dave, is it keyed to the driveshaft or some other setup?
Looks like a combo of turning and rotab work (??)
Nice job on the lathe holders!
Why the 1018? Did you have some drops laying on hand? I would expect them to loose their accuracy over time due to wear.
What dovetail cutter did you use?
Nice job on the jack handle. I have one of those jacks that I really should put back into service. I need to make a U joint for the control rod as mine is busted. The jack functions other than that.
New knob for a fellow GJer for his Blackhawk S4 jack.

Nice job. That turned out great.![]()
Thanks! If one day, I get the model of the original knob finished up, I might have the computer cut one just for fun. Or, I could 3D print it. Of course, I have no use for one, as my S4 is mostly complete. Just missing the lens for the light that I've been "working on" casting for a couple years now. Still waiting for my round tuit to show up, I guess.
Dave
Here ya go, you can have mine....

shift knob for my 33 chevy, aluminum.

finally found a few hours of time at work to knock out a personal project. Whipped up this plate that I can clamp down to my workbench while working on my kid's kart race engines, makes it easier to hone, or torque bolts without these little lightweight blocks moving around.
Even engraved it so when I inevitably go senile, I'll be able to remember why I made it haha.

If my wife caught me doing this she would murder me.
Getting old, decided I needed an easier to read tire pressure gage for the kart track with my boy, so I made an obnoxiously large one, with a better range on the gage.

yes, super simple project, just something I've been meaning to get to for a while. Valve is just an off the shelf air bleed valve that is 1/8" NPT.I'm assuming by made, you mean you made the valve section? What did you use for the valve and seat?
Dave
that is a good idea, I'll have to see if i can find something that fits it.Obnoxiously large, lol. By who's standard? Beauty is in the eye etc.
My next temptation would be find an obnoxiously small tire, PVC pipe or stiff foam ring as a shock guard.
Think a tire would look best.

yes sirI take it you are having to do half at a time due to travel limitations?
Dave
Boss' son asked me to try modifying an old set of rims for his truck...
Done on shop time, being paid my hourly rate by his dad who own the business. sounds like his liability to meThat is a lot of liability.
not on the CNC, I'll break edge manually after its all done. Are you doing anything to break the edges?
Dave
the hell if I know, he pulled them off the shelf, asked me to run a sample and if he likes them he'll put them on the inside of the dually and order 4 new ones for the visible wheels. How did those wheels get so hammered in the first place?

thanks, i like that directional pattern as well. I dont know how much time and effort hes going to put into tidying up this one, he's got this one plus another old rim he wants cut to put on the inside of the dually, then he's ordering 4 more new Alcoa wheels to cut that will be the visible ones. Those are turning out nice. I'm assuming he'll have the dings and gouges welded up and then re-polished?
I did a similar design to my Alcoa aluminum wheels when I converted my 1988 Ford F-250 SRW into a dual rear wheel back in the 90's. Had a local machine shop turn the standard hole pattern into a directional pattern. I had a knot in my stomach cutting up brand new wheels until they were done.
