I've got a Milwaukee 2650-20 and a single compact battery (48-11-1815) left from a kit I got a few years ago. The drill died and took out a battery a long time back when I apparently expected too much of it while drilling through some stainless.

I'm curious if I can use my existing battery to power any of the 1/2" drive impacts until I feel like I need a little more longevity out of each charge cycle. My usage will be mainly wheel swaps and breaking free some of the heavier suspension and torque plate type pieces on my cars/bike. Nothing big as my largest car right now is a Z4M coupe which may soon be replaced with a VW Golf.

I'm torn between the high torque units and the compacts. I'm also getting lost in the sea of available models in each range, how would I decide which way to go? The Compacts seem to me like a good choice but is the 300ft lbs or so enough for wheel lugs, bellhousing bolts, suspension links, etc?

Last thing is where is the best place to buy them from in Canada?

Alright - I already found the alternative.. anyone familiar with the cordless Capri tools / Neiko lithium stick light thats around $40, and is pretty amazing (I have it).. they have a cordless 1200 lumen underhood model now for $80.. this might wind up in my shopping cart soon, esp if that $200 price is confirmed... I'd hate to give up being able to swap out m12 batteries, but if this is like the smaller model - then it should work corded too..

Check this thing out... I'm REALLY tempted already, cause I have the small model and it's worth every penny..

Neiko 40447A Rechargeable Underhood Work Light | 202 SMD LED Bulbs | 1,200 Lumens Max Brightness | 8,000 mAh Li-ion Battery | 2 Brightness Modes https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MTXC016/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Here's the matching smaller model. This is the best $35 you'll ever spend on a cordless light - I promise you.
Neiko 40464A Cordless LED Work Light, 350 Lumens, 5 Hours Run Time, 4,000 mAh Rechargeable Li-ion Battery, Multi Purpose https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WI9585I/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Ive had the $35 light sitting in my cart for a couple weeks now. Didn't realize they have an underhood one too. Looks like I'm spending $120 soon.

Both look like great options. Thanks for shining some light on these. No pun intended. How long have you been using the little one? Even if I get a Milwaukee light bar, depending on price, I still like that little one for sure

I've had it for maybe a year if I had to guess.. I don't use it daily, or weekly, but every time I work on the car it comes out with me.. I actually like it better than my m12 and m18 stick lights...

Where are you getting this info from?

If that's true that's a bit much.. The comparable Snap-On model (obviously the inspiration for this) isnt even that much as a bare tool.. it's only $167 online, and $185 for their skittle green version - so I'd expect the Milwaukee to be more like $129 as a -20 model..

https://store.snapon.com/Flashlights-Rechargeable-LED-Cordless-Underhood-Light-P819591.aspx

Obviously Milwaukee is pretty fond on their high prices on lighting.. the m12 maglite being $99 is hard enough to swallow. Their original pricing of the rocket lights and radius was absurd, but at least their design was somewhat original, and a lot cheaper then the $800 Pelican option.. But exceeding snap on prices for a ripped off model is just an insult.. will many of us still buy it? I'm sure, but really - c'mon now.. even I don't think I'm willing to spend $200 for a bare tool on that... for a pro mechanic, yes... but even the SNAP ON MODEL IS CHEAPER.. when have you EVER heard that before.. I can only hope that's a -21 kit price, or just an inflated MSRP..

That underhood light looks pretty similar to the ATD Saber
https://atdtools.com/80357

I see this one on ebay :D

Guess its the same thing as the Harbor Freight light even cheaper there

Alright - I found a $100 Amazon gift card I had saved in a drawer, and figured screw it -

I just ordered that Neiko underhood light.. the small light is so good, I can't imagine the bigger model being bad.. you can buy both for like $110... I kinda wish the bracket was wider with two hooks on each side so you could lay it on the ground, but for $80 shipped that's a hard deal to pass on.. the HF model I have *****, and that thing is all over eBay and Amazon for $60..

I actually found the Neiko for sale even cheaper.. there's another listing on Amazon for $72 shipped, but it ships from a 3rd party and not Amazon. I figured for $8 I'd rather deal with Amazon if I wanna send I back. Found another listing on eBay for $69 shipped that illl post for you guys...

Here , eBay ($69)- http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=252727646033

Amazon - ($72) Cordless Mechanic Light Rechargeable Utility Light With Hooks (EXTRA LONG) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M360ZXO/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Small Neiko light on Amazon ($35) Neiko 40464A Cordless LED Work Light, 350 Lumens, 5 Hours Run Time, 4,000 mAh Rechargeable Li-ion Battery, Multi Purpose https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WI9585I/?tag=atomicindus08-20

That's $108 for BOTH Neiko lights off Amazon..

If the Milwaukee comes out ill wait for reviews and price confirmation, cause I'd like to use the m12 batteries- but in all honesty I won't use this a whole lot anyway so the Neiko seems like a great and cheap option..

I also ordered the 6 piece Milwaukee precession screwdriver set yesterday for like $20, so that's coming too..

Been wanting a better light for under the hood anyway. It's a pain trying to get the small Neiko set up on the hooks sometimes, and I can never seem to get the m12 stick light pointed where I want.. gonna stop buying **** now.. did the mid torque, hardline knife, 2 sets of gloves, screwdriver kit, and now this - all in 2 weeks - after I swore I'd stop this... next purchase is truck parts I swear..

Geez another useless review on that new M18 cordless vac. These guys don't even pick up anything with it! Check it out...they slide it over a table top, across a tile floor and wipe a rubber floor mat in a vehicle, at least in the ACME video they picked up popcorn with it. :lol_hitti

I also see the little M12 vac (which I already have) is down to $49 most places now what's it been dropped maybe $30 now?

Got the M12 fuel kit last week with the free ratchet. When the Impact sits for extended periods of time it won't respond to the trigger pull. The other tools work fine.

I take the battery out and put it back in and still nothing. I swap battery from another device and then it works. Did I get a faulty Impact?

My M18 2763 actually does the same thing. Though mine comes back when I pull the battery and put it back in. I haven't gone through and troubleshot it yet as I haven't been out in the garage much lately. Weather is turning nice though so I should be out there more again to investigate.

My first one did that so I took the whole kit back and swapped it out at Home Depot,no questions asked

Can anyone tell me the practical difference between the 1/4" and 3/8" ratchets that would necessitate me purchasing both instead of the just the 3/8" with an adapter (other than my addiction to buying Milwaukee tools)? I am not a "professional" tool user, just a woodworking hobbyist/DIY'er. Should have bought one a couple of weeks ago when I replaced my timing belt and water pump.

As always, thanks in advance.

The most obvious is physical size. The 1/4" will be smaller and will fit into tighter spaces.

The actual tool and head are the same size between the 1/4" and the 3/8". The 1/4" sockets will be smaller though so that's where you get your size advantage.

:rocker:
Last night I bought the 2597-22 kit at HD for $169. Didn't want the extra batt, light or rachet, otherwise I'd buy from Cpo or similar place.
Kit @ cpo $229 with $80 rachet, or a battery or light.

Since I have mostly Milwaukee stuff and LOVE it, but have a few Ryobi 1+ tools for those little once in a blue moon jobs that I just can't justify shelling out the big $$ on, have this little project in the works....

I've tested with an old m18 battery and a few different Ryobi tools, and so far no issues, so off to the 3d printer I went. Still need to wire the prototype up, but the fit is solid---and for $10 Canuck-Bucks total investment I'm happy so far haha. :willy_nil

Plan is to make 3 final versions and leave them in my Ryobi blower for clean up, the nail gun for the odd time i do trim, and the weed wacker. I have all under $150 Canadian for three of those but I hate having more than one battery system.

If it works out and you feel so inclined I'm sure there would be a huge market for those here. I have the Ryobi trimmer and blower that I'd love to use with the 9.0. Also wouldn't mind picking up the airstrike nailer since the Milwaukee one is garbage.

EDIT: Yeah Chris. Jazzman, oh, I guess you meant $170 with rachet. Nope, sorry for the confusion.

Hmm, it did say until April 30th or something...
page still says $169.
I added a pic. If it helps, try Auburn, CA store.

I was looking at this one since I wanted the Ratchet. It also has the extended battery as well. Not sure how this is but it will be my first Milwaukee cordless.

Was in Home Depot in I believe Ramsey no the other day. They had the m18 4 piece kit with the compact drill, compact impact, hacks all, and flashlight on clearance for $199. There was 2 or 3 left.

Link above is for the kit @ $229 with 3/8 ratchet.
You can also just search "free M12 ratchet" or similar and kits come up including a certain extra tool.
I found a kit for $169 with impact & ratchet instead of drill, lol. Only if someone really didnt need the M12 drill. Link below.

there were a few various kits at the 169$ price point when i was at HD this morning. one for a M18 drill 1/4" hex combo with 2 unspecified batteries (like 1.5AH), but they were not FUEL versions.

if there is a FUEL version available i dont want the other tool.

Awesome job, I would be interested on the adaptor if you decide to make extras. I am sold on the Ryobi nail gun but I am to invested on Milwaukee batteries. This would be perfect.

Did anyone ever post where exactly that pic of the m12 underhood light surfaced from, and where the MSRP price came out of? There's basically NOTHING online about this thing, so I'm just curious if that was a prototype or a preproduction in the pic. Seems odd unless somebody had a direct connection with one of the product testers or developers.

That Neiko I found should be here soon, and I just wondering if the clamp is spring loaded or not. Have a feeling it may not be and I dunno how I'd feel about one of those hard click pin lock style things, ya know - like an adjustable cane... will have to see when it gets here.. sure the Milwaukee will be nicer if that isn't just another Bigfoot picture that was posted..

I own two 5.0 batteries and two of the compacts between the fuel impact driver that has the self tapping screw mode, a fuel drill driver and a fuel sawzall. Would buying the 9.0 benefit me on the sawzall or is the weight trade off not worth it? I keep the two 5.0 with the sawzall currently.

I had been looking for both a cordless sawzall and cordless circular saw. When the 9.0 kit with free tools popped up I took advantage of them. $250 for the 9.0 battery, rapid charger and the circular saw OR $250 for the 9.0 battery, rapid charger and the sawzall. If you don't have the circular saw, grab that kit. The battery works fantastic on the sawzall. I don't think it feels too heavy personally. I used it for some "pruning" in preparation for taking down three trees in my front years. Worked great.

http://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauke...1890PC/300134851?keyword=M18+9.0+circular+saw

Edit: Review of the saw. It'll do even better with the bigger battery cut wise.

Edit: that was my first post apparently.
