Nice Don,I was unable to resist this Walden 1/2” drive ratchet. It arrived today from an eBay seller.

Not sure on many of the details of this one. If I had to guess it would 20s-30s it has 2 mechanicisms one for direction and other to rotate the head maybe? The price was right and couldn't pass on a ratchet I don't have for a buck.I don’t even have any 1/2” drive Walden to go with it. I just liked it. The price with shipping wasn’t bad either. Roy, you had quite a ratchet haul. What was up with that top one?

Ahh. The handle did appear to have the same design as the sold Walden, Ray, and Blackhawk tool kits. Thanks for the info.Looks like a bog 812 Ford connecting rod tool. From mid 1920's. Listed on alloy artifacts website.
Looks like Walden, Plomb, and possibly Indestro. The three ratchets to the far right in the third and fourth pic are not marked if anybody recognizes them. Thanks Bob k.
Welcome to the SPEEDEE-RATCH Club!Interesting that the Beall ratchet was manufactured about five miles from my house.
Looks like Walden, Plomb, and possibly Indestro.
Looks like maybe a walden, a plomb and maybe some duro derivative.

Nice set Bob. I am up in the 700s and I don't have several of those on the first pic.I have just started collecting ratchets and tools for a little over a year. Being a rookie my humble collection isn't much compared to you veterans. Interesting that the Beall ratchet was manufactured about five miles from my house. The three ratchets to the far right in the third and fourth pic are not marked if anybody recognizes them. Thanks Bob k.
Next time you see him, show him my WANTED! DEAD OR ALIVE! post (#647, page 33 on this thread), linked here, and let me know if he has ever seen one of those ratchets. They were in a Bethlehem Spark Plug Company set. Note that some kind of blade or similar tool, perhaps to help seat or un-seat sockets, folds out from the handle hinged at the end like a knife. One of the post refer to Mark that lives in Alton IL. I'm sure its the same Mark that I picked up the nice Will B. Lane ratchet. Great guy with a lot of knowledge on ratchets and tools.
Maybe. I think there was a Bay State or something similar to that name that maybe close to that date.Well thanks for the encouragement r olson. Being new at this its easy to tell if its old but hard to know if its worth the price to buy or not. Luckely at auctions/fleemarkets ive gone to nobody has been interested in the older stuff. And Lugz I will show Mark the post and see if he has or seen the wanted items you show. Here is one more I forgot to post. Is this one of the first swivel head ratchets made ?
Mark? Mathis? He's a good guy and his knowledge goes WELL beyond tools. I'll speak with him this afternoon as a matter of fact. Have him show you his Snappy kit from the very early days.....Well thanks for the encouragement r olson. Yes. I think they had the same OEM as Napa.
Anyone hear of Allen USA?
Gotta get rid of the cheap ones.

That may win the biggest ratchet contest. I wonder how big that flag has too be [emoji1] .Stopped at an antiques emporium this afternoon, and spotted a 3” across-flats single open-ended wrench, a monstrous torque wrench, and this huge ratchet, which I think was 2” square drive and about 3’ long. Babcock-Davis Easy Access Flagpole...
Didn’t get a price, but judging from everything that was priced, too high for me.

Nice on the Walden. They must have had alot of early ratchet varities as it seems new designs pop up all the time.I found a couple interesting ratchets at a Tahoe garage sale this morning. The 1/2” drive ratchet is an early Walden non-reversing female ratchet that came with a Williams plug. The other ratchet is a nice working 3/8” drive Williams Superratchet.

Here is a unique on I couldnt pass up. An early OTC roto. As if the roto wasn't adaptable enough someone welded a breaker bar end to the opposite side.
Was thinking the same thing. Who did the weld job did very well. Thought about cutting it off and fixing it but I am going to keep it as is.That one can go in the drawer of oddly modified tools. Sometimes I wonder what the people were thinking with some tool modifications. At least yours is still perfectly functional.

It does seem kinda odd no one made one like this. Kind of reminda of an old Mac double headed breaker bar I have. I will have to dig it out and take some pictures.I am surprised no one made one like that before. Seems kinda handy.
