Thanks Ainsly. It took way longer than it should have, and nobody will see it, but I'll know. I'm a bit OCD when it comes to that stuff. Friends teased me and said I should hire someone. They wouldn't have taken the time to run everything the way I wanted.

Dubber. The idea behind the lights is to be able to see under the car when it's up on the hoist. And also hopefully see inside the interior when it's on the ground. You know how it's always a black hole when you have your head in there!

Updates are a bit slow, but it's progressing nicely. Upstairs is primered and downstairs has first coat of paint.

It's now the slower work; all the reno's to tie in the existing shop to the new one. Upstairs bathroom electrical roughed in as well as downstairs bathroom.

Here's a few shots with paint and primer...

And one of the reasons that I need the space!

Thanks Styx. It's 4 zones for lighting with one extra just for neon. One circuit for each bay (16 amps each), one for the wall lights and one for receptacles that are mounted 8' high that will switch on/off neon signs that I'll event mount.

Panthersteve, thanks! It will be my dream shop when completed. Along the way it's been a great stress reliever where I've been involved and have strapped back on the tool belt.

I've been busy finishing up the electrical work lately, but the boys have been busy on starting the cabinets. It's really starting to come together now. The cabinets are turning out better than I expected and are purpose built to exactly what I want.

The upstairs flooring is now picked out so we can move on to that soon as well. We went with a vinyl plank system from Harbinger.

Here's a few cabinets going into the 'old' shop first.

It's been awhile since I've updated. The upstairs is getting close to being complete. Here are a few pics of the floor going in.

This wall will be the theatre wall with built in speakers and flush mounted TV.

The shop cabinets are built and ready for paint and countertop.

The old existing shop is now renovated to match the new shop area. Renovations are way tougher than new builds! The far area beyond the doorway is the paint booth.

Wow! "thud"

Thanks. I wish I could transplant it to your corner of the world. I was there a few weeks ago doing laps at Laguna Seca. What a great track. It has been on my bucket list for awhile. It sure did not disappoint!

Lol, was good once I found a good reference to make that right hand turn into the drop. I was running a Formula 2000 car at Skip Barber. I'll PM you this Summer. If all goes well I'll be back there again in August when the series is there. I'm heading off to Road Atlanta for the first race of the season in 10 days.

never driven the track, more a off road guy, but several friends have spoke about it.
One of the older gentleman described the corkscrew this way. "The corkscrew is the only way you can drive off a cliff without the sudden stop at the bottom"
Have fun at Road Atlanta, Panoz still involved with the track?

Spring has sprung! And the garage is getting close to being complete. I'll post some garage pictures tomorrow.

It's been awhile since I've updated this thread. A few things left to do, but it's now a functional shop! The corvette was the first patient. It will be back on the road today with a bit of luck.

And the garage wouldn't be complete without a TV!

…and got sidetracked with a misoperating 4wd system in my daughters Tacoma. She had initially taken it to the dealer for assessment and repairs. And after they said that it will need an entire new transfer case and transfer case actuator, we decided to try and fix it ourselves. Quotes of nearly $5k (CAD) seemed unreasonable and didn’t make sense.

Chased the issue where the truck would show a flashing 4x4 light on the dash, but never confirm 4H, and then could only get it back to 2H by cycling ignition. After hours of chasing a signal issue that was not the transfer case, but the front differential actuator (ADD), I discovered a broken wire in a harness plug going to the diff actuator. Was a challenge to find, but got some great help on the Tacoma forum with wiring diagrams.

Back to rebuilding a few kart engines. Bottom ends almost done on these two 125cc single speed motors. Still two 125cc 6-speed shifter motors to do plus two 100cc air cooled ones.

Then i realized that I didn’t order enough crankshaft engine case seals For the shifter engines…

One motor done and another 75% done. The starter failed on the second one, so I’ll have to rebuild the starter on that guy. Lots of failures on those starters, so I’m not really surprised. Also found the reeds destroyed on the first one. Another weak point in these motors.

Carbon fiber reed valves weren’t a thing when I was racing 2 strokes, do they do damage to the piston or cylinder when they fail?
