I know I shared this with some of you guys already but I am still shaking my head and laughing over this one.

This is the type of vehicle that occasionally comes into my shop and the same idiot that drove it will ask, " Does this mean I don't get an inspection sticker"

Obviously you don't know how to use a lift and ruined the guys perfectly good ride. Some guys can screw up anything.:(

Now is the perfect time to create the articulated dump truck you've always dreamed of. Might need to add a carrier bearing at the joint to make the driveshaft behave.

What do you do with a truck like that? I assume the frame is so bad there is nothing to patch to in order to make a repair. Or had it just been overloaded and cracked?

Andy do remember the comic strip Black Cloud? Make sure you wear your hard hat if Dan comes to visit.

Badge on the side of the truck says 4x4 - looks like a 2x2 to me now... Still its in better condition than some of our taxis... they give literal meaning to "Drive it till the wheels fall off"

I think on that one I can understand the response, No I am not letting you leave in it.

What a surprise to the one operating the lift.

Enjoyed the posts.

Kinda slow catching up here after the busy winter -- sorry.

Apparently Maine is a serious salt state??? What a mess! Either way, it looks like you've been having fun and getting a lot done.

I did make a **** calendar but it didn't have any blondes in it.

Cuda, thanks for dropping by. I'd rather look at my favorite redhead each month I turned the page. I'm sure the guys here would rather see you too.

It's been busy and I'm glad winter is behind us. Sounds like you've had a pretty hectic winter yourself.

Not ignoring you other guys just had to respond the "mistress of metal".

Not garage related but I thought I'd throw in an update.

Buried the garden tractor last night. So guess what I'm doing later this morning???

20170513_071536.jpg

And I don't know if I'd mentioned that the wife has decided to take up riding so we bought a little 600cc Honda Shadow for her.

As they say, "It's not a big motorcycle just a groovy little motorbike."

Not much else going on. Same old same old. Cars break, we fix 'em. Different day, different problem to deal with.

Ok..... first Chris' wife gets a dirt bike and now your better half has a bike (nice bike btw) so inquiring minds want to know....how in the hell did y'all get so lucky with your brides or has the universes karma flipped upside down and the rest of us have a chance to get them to ride? Lol. Condolences on the tractor.

Don't know much about garden tractors as I don't do gardening. But I do know bikes and that is a good one. Hondas are (usually) reliable easily maintained and in my opinion good looking. Also see that kinda red looking WOC sitting innocently not moving around in the last picture.

Looking for a place to go? I know a guy who has just picked up some neat stuff in R.I. call me.

I see you mow like I do. Dear the mower won't run, it's stuck, etc. I guess I'll do something else like sleep.
Shadow is a nice little bike.

Did the garden tractor die? Did it get a proper funeral? Or did you just bury it and say bad words to it?

Andy, I see there's a difference of terminology between us. So after mulling it over I decided to dig up the tractor and resurrect it of at least give it a proper burial and blessing. I decided to keep the little dude and praise it for all the hard work it does. Say bad words to it....Never.

Bike looks like great fun for the family:thumbup:

That remains to be seen.:dunno:

Duke, this had nothing to do with me. She decided that she wanted to start riding. I said "good luck"

Andrew, I'm happy with the bike, I think it'll be a good one. It's a 2007 and has 4981 miles on the clock. I believe it has a lot of life left in it. And the WOC has settled down and has acclimated nicely to it's life of stability.

Looking for a place to go? I know a guy who has just picked up some neat stuff in R.I. call me.

Bobby, I'm not really looking for a place to go but am always opened to adventures. Should I be thinking about a trip to R.I.?

It looks stuck in a muddy spot. I hope that is all that is wrong.

Richie, that's it. It's just sunk in the mud.

Nice bike. I'm trying to visualize you riding the "queen" seat this summer. Nope, can't do it.

Earl. LMAO. I ain't gonna be anybody's *****.

Stewart, don't tell her what I'm up to. The list will get longer.:lol_hitti

Dan, "buried the garden tractor" from your picture I looks like some serious rear end issues..:dunno:

That is one nice bike...

Regards

Steve, after looking back at that picture, it does appear that the left rear tire is got a serious camber problem. But I can assure you that it's an illusion. And thank you, I also think that is a nice bike.

So I was not happy with the top on the Delta so I took it off and started over. But while the back bow was coming out, I somehow lost two brass washer/ spacers. Looked for over an hour and could not find them. I was thinking about Bob and his lost bolt but I also knew there was no going to the internet and ordering any replacements. Then I had this remarkable idea pop into my head.:headscrat I HAVE A LATHE. So a quick search through my storage cabinets, I found a couple of brass fittings that I figured would do the trick.
After rounding off the hex head and drilling a 3/8" hole through the center, I chucked it up and started removing the extra material.
20170516_133401.jpg
Cut it to approx. length.
20170516_133826.jpg
Then cleaned up the edge.
20170516_133839.jpg
Maybe not as pretty as the original but every bit as functional.

Maybe a little crude, but they worked and I was able to move on with the task at hand. When I finish getting the top secured, I'll post a picture.

That's all for now. Astounding isn't it Andy????:D

My man!:rocker::rocker::rocker:

Just get your feet wet. Good job!

Won't be the last job:3gears::3gears::3gears:

Like I've said before, the simplest jobs can be the most rewarding, and very hard to do with a hacksaw and file.

You're right, I am "Astounded" Annoying Andy.

Congratulations on the first "impromptu" use of your lathe. If I calculated the ROI for my lathe it would surely be negative until I factor in the little $2 parts that would cost $20 if I had to go out to buy them.

I don't use my lathe all that often anymore but when it is a choice between paying $20 online and waiting a week or using a piece of scrap and having it done in 30 minutes you just can't argue. I'm sure I'd say the same thing if I had a mill, but haven't found the right one yet.

Plus the time to go get the little part. And in the case of fittings, you can machine out a reducing tee, for instance, from one piece of brass instead of buying four overpriced pieces which wind up being too long to fit where you want them to go. Why buy a tee, reducer, and three barb fittings when you can easily machine a tee with barbs and a tapped side connection with one threaded barb.

I read where you posted on Bobby's thread that Lisa had broken her foot....:shocking:

I hope she's healing OK, but I guess that'll put a dampner on the motorbike riding for a bit. And I hope she didn't break her foot riding the bike??? :3gears: :3gears:

Have you picked your bike out yet (like Chris is now looking for)? :dunno:  :eyecrazy:

Or are you going to be the soccer Mum that rides along behind in the car? :D :D :D

Damn it.... now I need a lathe...

Yes you do Pines. Even a wood lathe would come in handy. But turning metal is pretty cool.

Thanks Andy. I have turned out a couple more of those spacer/ washers just because I wanted them a tad less crude.

Awesome Dan!

Awesome yes but not as awesome as your milling machine. Now I want one of those.

Yeah Andrew, but it's nice when you can't go out and buy what you need to get the job done.

Keep looking, it seems that Nines found a good deal on his.

Thanks for adding that. I need to start thinking about all the things I can do with it.

Well unfortunately she did break her ankle while she was taking lessons. She is healing up nicely and has even gone back to work. As far as another bike, I'll hold off on that for a while. It looks like I might be the one using the Honda. I'm going to pretend I didn't read that statement about the soccer mum.:spit:

Now to the reason for the update: I received the sign today that Kenfab made for me.

20170606_101604.jpg

I'm pleased with the way it looks. And it is heavy for a sign. It weighs nearly two pounds. Thank Ken for coming through for me.
