Wooden lathe... meh... i'm not making a bowl... don't want to make a bowl...

I have made small handles to replace broken ones on my drill press. I used a Nail in my metal vise for a tail... I free hand it...

Want a small metal lathe... one that I could cut threads... so somewhat fancy...

Keep looking Pines. They are out there. Just finding one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg is the trick. I looked for years before the right deal came along.

Yea... a year or so ago there was one for $1000 (including delivery)... lots of bells and whistles... but that's pretty much exactly when I started having heart issues so it fell to the back burner...

All the others are missing so much stuff or been stored on the FLOOR outside in the Jersey Shore weather for 10 years... OR... priced so insanely high... they are HIGH.

Another issue for me is space... I'm thinking I will just have to continue to put an effort in to reorganizing till I suddenly have a 6 foot spot along a wall then say... damn... that would make a nice spot for a lathe.

Dan, sorry to hear of your wife's ankle, hope heals soon.
You need to get her one of the knee carts, I picked one up for my wife when she broke hers, much better than crutches.

Now I am all upset, I have not made any chips, but both you and Nines have beaten me to it. I guess after the Lista debacle is over, I will start working on my chip making thingies.

Strouty, do it!

Dan, you are in mill country, I'm sure if you aren't careful, you would trip over one.

Hope the Mrs. heals quickly and hasn't deterred her from riding.
Very nice sign, 3D too. Is it MDF or plywood?

Thanks for all the comments guys. The wife is healed enough to go back to work. She's young and tuff. I'm not sure how quickly she'll get back on a bike.

The Sunoco sign does look a treat 1/2. And Andy, I'll sent you a picture of one so you can hang it on your wall.

Terrick, doctors order that she needs to get as much horizontal exercise as possible (wink, wink, nod, nod)

Strouty, you only have yourself to blame. Start making chips fly.

Craig, awesome idea. But she's getting around okay with just an air boot.

Stewart, MDF?? It's metal. He made it with a plasma cutter. And did a very nice job.

John, the next picture is for all to enjoy but thank you for making it happen.

Look what got added to the garage today during our lunch break. And no I didn't wire this one up so it does not illuminate. (Not yet anyway)

So horizontal exercise and keep feet elevated is the trick? Vicki has a sprained finger so I will try that.

Nice sign. You'd still be waiting if it was that Fedex guy. lol

Looking really good! Great signs!!

Glad she is able to go back to work, that is a good sign, too!!

Thanks Andy. It's also made her easier to live with. You know it was my fault she broke her ankle in the first place.:eyecrazy:

Yup, I think that'll help her finger heal quicker.:dunno: If that FedEx guy was involved, I'd have to wait for him to rethink the plan a few thousand times before he would have delivered it.:lol_hitti

Nice sign. Can't wait to see it lighted and glowing in the dark.

I'm not sure I'm going to light that one up Billy. And nice Iroc by the way.

I agree the sign is nice and I am to blame. Someday I too will make chips.

Yes you are a good one to blame no matter what goes on.:spit:

We have had a run on extra problematic vehicle lately. One of the postal trucks has an intermittent surging and stalling issue. Found out the intake was sucking air so put on a new one.( government didn't want just a new gasket) That helped but the problem remains. These things are too old to get a good scan tool diagnosis and no CEL anyway. So I called and talked to the main office and guess what their head tech told me. He said that because of the age of these things that firing the parts cannon at them was sometimes the only way to fix them. You gotta love it when it's not your money that's being spent. I don't think that many of my other customers would appreciate that approach to repairing their vehicles. Anyway, today I get several parts to throw at it. We'll see how that works out.

Hey Dan, I just caught up again - sorry to here about your wife's injury, glad to hear that she's on the mend.

Yep, unfortunately that's a diagnostic method that I often have to resort to as well.

Nice signs.

Good luck with the mail truck. I'm not a big fan of the parts cannon either, it's too much like money. Glad to hear SWMBO is doing better.

Thanks for stopping by guys. I'm really pissed. I took a ton of pictures of the TH350 rebuild and most of them disappeared. I could post what I have but it isn't going to make a lot of sense. Maybe next time it'll work out.

The imput shaft and clutch packs removed.

Showing where the lock ring is on the low/ reverse clutch pack.
20170626_091556.jpg
Compressing the piston in one of the clutch packs to replace the lip seals.

With the piston removed, now the seals can be replaced.

Using a .008 feeler gauge to get the piston back in place and making sure the seals aren't rolled.

Sorry that is all that I had left to show. It's not a very good step by step of a teardown. Like I said, I'll try again next time.

I do a little. Mostly the older stuff. 2007 back. Most of the problems that come into the shop are sensor related, so solenoid swaps usually takes care of the problems people are having on the newer stuff.

How are you making out with the antique electrical system you're working on?

I figured it out for now, we'll see if that's true when it goes back together :) at least I have a ground in the conduit now or will when done.

Andy, I took the pictures and then looked at them to see how they came out. When I downloaded them into my laptop, they were gone.:dunno:

And I know you'd never lose any.

And I was thinking about kicking my cell phone across the garage.

Thanks for checking in.

Man, don't kick the phone. I slapped my laptop because it was running like a turd, and they had to send me a another one. Then I found out it wasn't backing up on the server since last Aug. so all my work since then is gone.
Next time I'm running it over with the excavator.

Gentlemen. I'll give you the same advice I give everyone else when they have personal electronic device problems..................Give it flying lessons, swimming lessons, or hit with a big hammer. It won't help anything, but you'll feel better.....for a little bit.

Hey Dan, it's almost a month since you've posted on this thread - imagine anyone going several weeks without posting on their own thread. :headscrat

Who would do such a thing? :dunno:

Oh...

...

....why's everyone looking at me?
