Another commonality. I noticed from the wall that there is a "Sunshine State" in both US and Australia.

I've noticed that too Craptain, from what I can ascertain, I think we have a similar climate, etc. to Florida - so it makes sense.

We've had the "Sunshine State" plates here for many decades now (and we still have them now), but a few years ago the politicians decided to give us a second option "The Smart State" (to promote the "technology industry boom" at the time) - there were a few getting around, but it never really caught on.

OK, back in your box now Lyndon.

You'd better talk to cb about that Shorty(see Lyndon, I got it right:lol_hitti) I'm in charge of the ice for the beer. I plan on filling the back of the pick up leaving here with it early Thursday morning. Make a stop in SC for the night and then drive through to Gerards. How's that for a plan?

Oh and Lyndon, how much do you want to judge my garage as the best;););)

Just a quick update. I had a few minutes yesterday to get one of the backs attached to the bench. And the cover on the other side so maybe I'll have the front seat back in the old girl before too long.

Today we are going to change out a sub frame on a Ford Taurus.

The rest of the car really isn't that bad. The owner thinks it's worth it. They're looking to just get another year or two out of it.

We have a engine bar that holds the motor and transmission in place. So not as bad as having to remove the whole thing. Last one Rick and I did took us about six hours. Always some unforeseen problems arise. i.e. broken sway bar links, bad ball joint, that sort of thing.

As to the "looks bad" comment...I always quote Long John Silver..."beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I be holdin her now." (Said with a pirates growl).
Seriously, those engine bars are so useful for lots of jobs. I use mine to hold the complete front clip off my Nomad steady when putting it on and off by myself.

So if there's an engine bar, where do transmissions go to drink?
Time to google engine bar. Glad you have my part of the seat finished. Looking good.

It's not a tool that gets used often, but when it's needed, there's nothing better. It's very versatile as you just mentioned.

The Olds seat is looking good Dan, I can't say the same about the Taurus.

Those seats are coming along great! That subframe is nasty... I'm glad stuff generally doesn't rust like that here in Aus (not on something that new anyway!).

I am not posting this to be a braggart. I just wanted to (oh the hell with it, I'm bragging:lol_hitti). The last new vehicle I bought was in 1994. I guess it's just a good time for me right now, so I pulled the trigger on Saturday.

Ooooh nice Tacoma Dan. Good work.

Tell me more.

There are a few tundras getting around here that some of the civil engineering firms own that have been imported and converted to RHD.

Cheers GB

Thanks GB. I preferred the Tacoma over the Tundra. They both are great trucks. Just the choice I made.

Terrick, that old 82 chevy has a long history with me. If it wasn't for it being all rusted out, I would have considered bringing it back to a driver. But it suits me more to have it as a plow truck. Maybe someday I'll tell the story of "How much the previous owner paid me to take that truck"

Very nice Dan, although if it wasn't for the Toyota emblem on the grill I would not have a clue as to what It was.
(I could be wrong, but I don't think that Toyota sell those here).

I did however, recognize the '80s Chevy hiding in the bushes.

+1 to what Mark said. Nice looking rig. Like the colour too....

Sorry it's a late reply, but we've been out tonight and are just home.

My first thought (till I saw the badge) was that it was a Ford. :dunno:

Have fun with it. :rocker:

All I see in the picture is a Chevy. :dunno:

Oh the beautiful blue truck in the middle of picture, very nice and probably well deserved.

Lyndon, there's no ditch anywhere in the picture. :lol_hitti

Thanks again guys. And yes I'll try and take a lot of pictures of the lift set up. But it'll probably not happen until next week.

Shorty, not sure if Lyndon is going to get that one.:lol_hitti

Don, that might be a nice fall trip that has a good chance of happening.

I stand corrected T Apparently it's universal slurring.

The lift is on it's way, should be landing here within the next two hours. (If they don't get lost) Pictures to follow next week.

It's about 90*F and humidity is about 80%. I hope it cools off a little for tomorrow. If not, it won't be much fun drilling 10 holes through the concrete.

Thanks for stopping by guys.

Damn, I hope I get my lift operational before you because my FC brothers will paint and feather me if I keep procrastinating. :headscrat

May I suggest that you take your new ride on a long distance shake down test ride so you can ensure the truck is comfortable before taking the Mrs. on a trip. Point the truck south and we'll see you at Gerard's on the 5th.

Oh no shorty, no feathers just lots of paint.

I second the suggestion about a road trip for Dan.

How about cutting Shorty some slack Gerard, the man had a near-death experience recently and lousy tenants trashed his rental property and he had to let the concrete cure a bit longer and the dog ate his homework and....
