Here's part of a set I've had for 20+ years.
I go from 6mm thru 27mm + 36mm.
They are all the old 600 series prior to the N.

None have seen much use but are old friends just the same.
I admit to a strong fetish for German hand tools stretching back over 35 years.

I sometimes rub against them when no ones looking.......:)

Got this bit in the mail today. It was a free sample from Quattrojohn and the quality is truely amazing. The finish is unlike any drill bit I've seen for sale here. Going to drill a lock with it soon to see how it performs. Also its Made in Austria. :)

@Monte: re: jigsaw blades. Haven't tried many Euro. blades. Only two that I can recall: Hilti and Bosch. For all I know they're made in same place, but the Hilti always seem better. The quality cut, the rough cut (for wood) and the metal blade. I don't know what it is. But then again, I think the Hilti is the best jigsaw I've ever used, so there you go.

I recently purchased some Wera Kraftform Chisel Driver screwdrivers. They are really nice! That said, no COA on the actual screwdrivers. Is this normal or are Wera off-shoring?

(PS: I could not resist - @ American Lockpicker)

@Monte : So, TARGON is Aldi's tools brand and according to your links USH is the OEM. Do you know if USH is still the same OEM for other Hazet's 1/4 and 5/16 bit drivers, i mean the blue painted ones ?

@Cantause : May i ask you how much you paid your Facom torx set ?

@Americanlockpicker : Nice drill bit  and even better Hennessy Cognac, you're a tastefull person : Cheers

Not Swiss made? :headscrat

I didn't notice the difference between the writings, you have sharp eyes
Maybe they started to produce them somwhere else, or just marketing :headscrat It seems very well done for a copy but difficult to know even when having them in your hands...

Concerning the Facom torx socket it was 97.5€ + vat so around 118€, love is blind... :)

ps: i sold my KoKen clip removers with that handle a while ago :)
I think i´ll look out for PB Swiss or similar handle shapes/styles :) ;)

I have the PB clip removers--nice little guys with a thin profile.
An improvement over the Mastercraft brand I used to use before--the tips were too bulky for most interior work.

Here's the Ko-ken handle transplant :D

Was in a bit of a rush taking the photos so they're not the best.

Everything was alllll good until the very last couple swings to get the handle seated on the shaft. Carelessness ended up with marring the handle end.
I fitted the **** with, IIRC, a 11mm socket.

attachment.php

I can attach many things to the end.... any length of extension fixed/wobble, a ratchet, a drill/driver, or a speeder...
or how about a 3/8" Ko-ken T-handle, fixed with a locking adaptor.

Looks nice! but I like them with a longer shaft, so I can put one hand around it and control my moves more precisely, I mostly use die grinders for cylinder head jobs so precision is quite usefull :)
I like the Makita GD0600, probably not as strong as the Bosch but seems fine for what I do

would this be helpful ?

btw I order the Bosch GSM200D grinder yesterday, they rose the price to 220€ but as I was decided I bought it... with a wera 395ho nut drivers set :bounce:

There are also some wiha's on the way from Germany, I hope I'll receive them before christmas!

A bit too late but it was on ebay.de at 29,95€, just in case someone would also buy this set..

nice !!! Post some pics (please :) ) when the tools arrive !

Some new stuffs I received, Facom as usual... I know I'm so predictable :bounce:

nice set !!

bought two drills yesterday, don't know why, one from england, i guess :X

what drills ?? :)

@airbuff101

nice Hazet wrenches !!!!!!!!!

I don´t know much about jig saw blades, I have 4 sets now but only used 3 or 4 blades so far, for cutting wood, one for cutting metal just to try it and once to cut plexiglass with the special Bosch blades. Bosch has a very large selection of blades for all tasks, but when the Hilti blades (swiss made ?) work then why not buy Hilti :)

@spv:
a dude in a german forum lately asked Wera about their production location and they responded that they shifted the production to czech republic in a 10 year period.

yes Targon is a Aldi brand and this specific set is from USH. But not always !!!
About USH/Hazet – I don´t know… difficult to figure out …I guess….the bit holder looks like USH and they have this set…. Why not the individual bits ??? But there are cheaper versions than Hazet like USH, Wiha, Wekador, Athlet etc.…. everybody is cheaper :)
Ok If you want blue ones…..

@superautobacs:
Looks good !!! Even with square in the handle !!
Reminds me on: (wouldn´t it be cheaper ??) :)

@ Americanlockpicker:
nice Wiha pliers !

BTW: What is the brand of drillbit you received, my reading comprehension ***** today.

Americanlockpicker means "Alpen" . "Alpine" makes car audio :) ;)

Monte:
What long 3/8" ratchet do you recommend? I only see Facom with one and Facoms's handle is not for me.

flex head or not ? fine or coarse tooth ?

So what other types of pliers does Wiha make in Switzerland and is there any Swiss Made tool boxes?

i don´t know - i would contact wihatools.com since they should know from the papers from the customs what they import...
Only swiss made boxes i know are from Lista.

btw: found this Hazet screwdriver set on Ebay.COM
Hazet old style handles (discontinued in that shape/design) and swiss type blade tips like PB Swiss Tools (parallel flat tips)

I had chance to visit the Unior store to check their 1/2" drive ratchet. The tool was good and had very smooth ratcheting at 77 teeth count. However the quick release and the selector switch were made of hard plastic. I had second thoughts and left the shop w/o a new ratchet. :( I would have taken it if at least the selector switch was metal.

Here are some of my latest tool picks.

First are my long missed safety ring pliers from Gedore. Was a 8-pack for about 76 EUR. Made in Austria:

Next we have a set of Wiha Microfinish Torx drivers. Don't ask why I got two 25 instead of 25 plus 27. :headscrat All made in Germany. I love this coarse handle, since it's easy to clean and will not slip even if wet or greasy.

Then I completed my torque wrench set with a used Stahlwille Manoskop. It's used, but not to bad for 22.- EUR. Will have to find a 1/4" insert (725/4). If anyone would like to sell one or nows where to get them for less than 40.- EUR let me know.

Yeah, but I got a good deal on the ratchet/socket set on Ebay (probably cheaper than just the Proxxon ratchet itself). But the original handle on it *****, and i don't think the Proxxon handle on it is any good either. Hence, the transplant. I was going to use a 2-component Kraftform grip, but the Ko-ken grip is awesome for twisting so I chose that instead. :)

I saw some Alpen concrete drill bits at my local liquidation store. They were all made in Austria. That was my first encounter with that name.

@Zorro,

That Manoskop is cool. :pimpflash

@JayL,

What's impression with the Unior stuff?

Fine tooth non flex head ratchet 3/8"

sorry don´t exist....only flex head in long from Gedore + Stahlwille.... Hazet only 32 teeth in long flex head configuration... no long non flex 3/8" ratchet ...(except Facom....)

Here are some of my latest tool picks.

nice tools !!!!!!!!

Nearly 200 pages on that thread, and still a pleasure

 yeah !!!!!!

Interesting , they don´t even have a dealer in Canada ?!?!?!

Same for me, no COO on my chiseldrivers, stubbies, nutdrivers,... nor on the box, maybe I've not looked carefully enough (do we have to open the handle with a knife :headscrat )...

^^good shot Cantause  :here, in France this Facom torx set AMEX 3 is listed 150.52 Euros + VAT = 180.02 Euros.

Well, I will have another one for sale, I bought 2, one for me and one for my brother as his christmas gift but I noticed yesterday that he had already this set in his toolbox :(
I bought him some wiha inomics and magicring hex keys instead, now I have 2 AMEX.3, it's too much for a single man...

would this be helpful ?

Actually I bought this a few years ago for small details and finishing:
<a href="http://s739.photobucket.com/albums/xx39/cantause/?action=view&current=IMG_1189.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx39/cantause/IMG_1189.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

nice !!! Post some pics (please :) ) when the tools arrive !

With the weather we have in europe all my orders from Germany are waiting somewhere in logistics centers
I guess that when the snow will melt down I should expect an entire DHL truck to deliver them :bounce:

@ American lockpicker: These pliers look awesome! I'll try to know more about their "without Switzerland written on them" cousins...

Sure! Just tell me how many you will be for diner tonight please, it's getting crowded here, nobody can go to Bruxelles, Namur,... for their christmas parties because the highways are closed. So my mum's guest list is getting longer and longer since this morning, she asked me to wire a second oven (Which I had to install in the new kitchen in february :lol_hitti)
Well the weather is not better here either, pics Pics from this morning

Found these interesting "Berner"

I like the look! Are they rebadged or is it their own design?
I had a look on their website, some tools seem familiar...

Wow, that's a pretty good price for that Cobra combo.

http://alpenmaykestag.com/mk/pdf/vertriebspartner.pdf

The original was a Stanley brand. It was a 2-component handle, but with a cheapy plastic and textured rubber areas.
411BgSMd2YL.jpg

I found the Alpen items at a liquidation store, so they would've probably purchased it from some other store that closed shop or from some auction.

Here's some more pics of the Ko-ken T-handle:

With the awesome knurling, and the ball detent/dimple on the oval handle.

attachment.php

The female end side. It'll take another extension, but because there's not a lot of material left, the extension won't hold too snug.

Oval handle = no spinning and stronger:

Familiar it is. They are non other than NWS rebrands.

Member "Chreese" has a collection of Berner branded tools. I believe they source items from Stahlwille for part of their socketry items.

BTW, where's Chreese? Haven't seen him in a while.
