Monte,
When you look at a Hazet socket set, what do you need to observe to identify a real Hazet product from a counterfeit?
Thanks,
Dave
Look into the catalog if a set like offered exist. In this case for example you see that this set dont exist and you can see that the double box ratcheting (and non ratcheting) wrenches like in the pic are not offered by Hazet. The ratchets look slightly different too. 1/4" bit driver sockets should be gold colored too. More info:

For individual tools: Difficult if it´s a 1:1 copy. But if there are only slight differences you must know the (original) tools good to see the difference (inscription etc.) if there are any...
I don´t run into these problems because i bought all my Hazet tools from a local dealer to avoid anything like that because i was told years ago that there are copies around from Knipex, VBW and Wiha and most likely from other name brand manufacturers too. I only bought very few hand tools through ebay after checking catalogs and comparing pics to avoid getting ripped off with cheap counterfeits so i mostly only bought vintage stuff and few other things were the price was really good, most other things i bought "offline" to make sure i buy the real thing (the slightly higher price is ok for me). Everything nowadays will be copied ....not only tools, clothes, computer stuff, even simple things like pens. Everything from A to Z where you can make money....
btw: here some "copied" Makita tools...:
