Very nice! Also are there much handtools(not wood working) besides King **** that are made in England now?

Pics are missing now???

No, not many handtools made here anymore. Some good old names are now owned by Stanley and bought in from somewhere else which I find kind of depressing.
That's why I go ratching about in the local old tool store, well that plus the fact that I get decent tools at car boot sale prices.

With luck you should be able to see the pics now?

Bgs technic:

When you already used that BGS set for a while, could you please write about your experiences? I considered BGS a few times as an alternative, but didn't trust the quality because of their low prices.

Teeny Turner by Picquic, Canada.

That Picquic bit holder is interesting, I use a similar model from Wiha as my pocket tool, fitted with stainless steel bits. I'll see if I can find some pictures of it.

@dede sorry if ur waiting friend:bounce:
mrtools,

Which cable cutters do you prefer the most in terms of durability, sharpness, and producing clean cuts with least amount of cable compression: Marvel or Shell?

Thanks,

Dave

It to hard to answer ur question between a two brand cable cutters..
for me both are very good in durability, and they all producing clean cut:bounce:

But if u want a very sharp go to Marvel..
for my daily jobs, I used a Shell it produced a clean cut and with a special 2 jaw (cutting side),sometimes I used it to strip a cable:beer:

I recently ordered some steel bits from Wiha, and fitted a stubby bitholder with them. They're the sizes I need most often; I use it in combination with a Wera bitratchet. Fits in every pocket, I love them.

The T-handle wrenches are a couple of Koken and the rest are Nepros. I will take a picture when I get home this afternoon. The tool trolley is KTC.

safabox,

Once you put some use on the Fujiya precision cutter and screw remover plier, can you please report back with your impressions?

I am curious if Fujiya produces quality hand tools.

Thanks,

Dave

Will do, the 110mm cutters should get a bit of work but it may be a while before I can comment on the screw removers, thanks.

Ive got a safa G7, Any relation to the company or just a love for them?

No relation to the company just happy to support a New Zealand company that makes quality products over the imported junk the floods the market here. Dad has a SAFA chest which has lasted him over 20 years & is still like new. I have the GL10 & RC9 combo & the quality is excellent.

Good to see another Kiwi on the board! I have a Safa G7 (just like Mik641's dad), and it was great? I say was, I dunno how it's fared from the quake, but between stripping it down and insurance, it will be either repaired or replaced with a new one. I wouldn't mind the cart combo, depends on future plans! safabox, do you get a discount for trade/military?

Like you guys, I like Kiwi made, well, unless it's Japanese or German stuff!

btw: pay attention if you buy something from Hazet through non authorized sources. There are copies/counterfeit products sold like this socket set. So watch out !

Monte,

When you look at a Hazet socket set, what do you need to observe to identify a real Hazet product from a counterfeit?

Thanks,

Dave

Look into the catalog if a set like offered exist. In this case for example you see that this set dont exist and you can see that the double box ratcheting (and non ratcheting) wrenches like in the pic are not offered by Hazet. The ratchets look slightly different too. 1/4" bit driver sockets should be gold colored too. More info: http://www.hazet.com/en/fakes-new/

For individual tools: Difficult if it´s a 1:1 copy. But if there are only slight differences you must know the (original) tools good to see the difference (inscription etc.) if there are any...

I don´t run into these problems because i bought all my Hazet tools from a local dealer to avoid anything like that because i was told years ago that there are copies around from Knipex, VBW and Wiha and most likely from other name brand manufacturers too. I only bought very few hand tools through ebay after checking catalogs and comparing pics to avoid getting ripped off with cheap counterfeits so i mostly only bought vintage stuff and few other things were the price was really good, most other things i bought "offline" to make sure i buy the real thing (the slightly higher price is ok for me). Everything nowadays will be copied ....not only tools, clothes, computer stuff, even simple things like pens. Everything from A to Z where you can make money....

btw: here some "copied" Makita tools...: http://makita.de/173.1.html

Knipex crimping pliers copies:
http://www.china-crimping-tools.com/ly_series_1.html

Gedore hammer copy (safety plate patented) http://www.aiwotools.com/proview.asp?pid=529

What do you need ?? Power tools ?? Bosch ? Makita ? choose the design and color and order some stickers.....:) www.hongyupt.com

should read "Bosch" but says Hongyu...... The internet is full of examples like that.....

Need a Makita drill ? http://www.hongyupt.com/producten.asp?sort_id=31
Get some Makita stickers and you have one....or many.... :)

Do you like Bosch rotary hammers but not the color ? :)

@Automatique: no the ergo handles + the red handled scissors are from China now. Knipex would be an option but i don´t know where they are from ... germany ? Italy ? China ?... Sometimes you can find the red handled (or black) ones with "Germany" or "Solingen" stamped onto the tool.

Wow! How can you even take those out of the packaging. They look great. And I thought my FP Blackhawk wrench set was shiny.

Bessey still makes the K body Revo's and the higher end ones in Germany, and it doesn't look like they'll shift away from that any time soon. However, more and more "CHINA" is showing up, so you never know.

@ricleh: thanks for the nice pics !

@lockpicker:
All cast clamps sold over here have either "Made in Germany" or "Germany" cast into the clamp (cast steel F clamps + cast zinc F clamps), the clamps made of bright drawn steel dont say anything but the (new) packages say "Made in Germany" on the clamps i saw. However the small hobby clamps made completely out of plastic are from China and these are from Taiwan:
http://www.bessey.de/catalogue/catalogue.do?id=113&favOid=000000010002d99100020023&act=showBookmark
In the US they might have a different line up with tools they dont sell over here (vices, more C-clamps) so i guess they have also imported clamps to be able to compete against Stanley + Irwin. In germany the price level is higher so they can sell their german made products here.

ricleh,

Have you used your Ko-ken and Nepros t-handles much?

If yes, what are the advantages t-handles possess versus a breaker bar; long, locking extension bar; and a socket?

Thanks,

Dave

I use the Koken T-handles for spark plugs and lug nuts. One of each is set up for that particular job. The Nepros are used for small engine work and repetitive tasks such as transmission or oil pan bolts or valve cover bolts where there isn't a lot of torque involved but there are lots of fasteners. Spinning the T-handle is a lot easier and faster than using a ratchet or breaker bar. I use them for other things too, but those are the primary uses of my T-handles.

ricleh,

Thanks for the feedback on the Ko-ken and Nepros T-handles.

Yesterday, I received from GJ member "ash95608" (German-Hand-Tools in California), an NWS FantasticoPlus, 8" long, heavy duty, side cutter, model# 138-69-200. I wanted to test them by cutting a narrow, vertical strip from the band of a 3/4" to 1-1/2" diameter, stainless steel, worm drive clamp. The NWS FantasticoPlus cutter sliced through the steel band very easily.

I then tried the same test with a Knipex model# 74 22 200, 12° angled head, 8" long, side cutter. The Knipex cutter was only able to score the steel band with its double blades. Here is a link to the Knipex side cutter: http://www.knipex.com/index.php?id=1216&L=1&page=group_detail&parentID=1367&groupID=1478.

The NWS Fantastico has superior blade sharpness and the hinged design provides up to a claimed 40% reduction in cutting effort. Knipex produces well made side cutters and bolt cutters. The NWS Fantastico blows the Knipex side cutter out of the water. I can't believe the results of this test! From now on, I am going to meet my future plier needs from NWS.

Here is a link to a picture of the NWS Fantastico side cutters GJ member "ash95608" is currently selling in the classified section: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=100284.
