Monte, I was having a look in the Athlet catalogue for this bit holder, and am not having much luck. Can you do me a huuuuge favour and tell me what the model number is for this please? Thank you!
BTW, yes, I am rereading this thread, this particular post was from a looooong time ago!![]()
Did they say when the'll release the new 916-1 ratchet in 3/8 ? I also noticed in "Der Checker" that Lina's garage is full-equiped by Hazet. bye bye Facom
[slaps himself across the back of the head]Like this?
I just typed in "Athlet 1430/30" in google!
Hope that's what you were looking for.
Put in "1430/30" in the search item line please![]()

@jayL
he didnt want to accept the 50 or $70 ?![]()
I reckon at half the price of new dollies then I'm still way ahead paying $100 for the whole lot. Anyway he brings me a lot of NOS Snap On so I'll ask for discount on next purchase.
How do you recondition your dollies and spoons? Need to bring these to mirror finish. Some of the dollies have minor dings and wonder if it would be good to belt sand these first to remove the dings.
For now I just wire brushed the tools in the bench grinder. Just noticed it also that these were West German made.

Nice FN, it's one of the last "old" industry that still work but not as well as before apparently... I study in Liège, this city was well known for its weapon industry in the past, a lot of small gun factories, a lot of armory schools... Now there's only one school left, with a lot less students than in the past, the FN Herstal is not the big factory as it was in the past, my grandfather worked there, my uncle too... Everybody had someone in their family who worked "at the FN", making gun, motorcycles, cars,...
Now, we almost never hear about the FN, it's a medium size factory as many others...
This thread is now about tools made in Belgium.

@bart1
The smart case is a nice idea, but i don´t know if its a must have, if you don´t have a 1/4" socket set ok why not, but its just a different more fancy package compared to the regular tool cases.
The new 916-1 ratchet looks a bit different but the ratcheting feel is similar to the older Hazet fine tooth ratchet and similar ratchets from Facom, Acesa etc.
On the internet pics the ratchet has a "Taiwanese finish" but in real life it has a "german finish" (not perfect) so you can still see that the ratchet was drop forged because of the marks. The handle has a flat shape so it´s comfortable to hold when you pull or push the ratchet. The sale price is valid until february 2012 so i´ll get me one of them until then
Other nice things are the "Hazet cockpit" tool box and the extendable ratchet which is unique to Hazet afaik (with this function)
ps: NTN bearings ?
if they have dings and dents i would belt sand them and then using finer and finer grit to polish them to a mirror or almost mirror finish so they are smooth and dont leave marks in the sheet metal of the car and with a polished surface they dont rust anymore (or not as fast). The surfaces which are too difficult to polish and/or are not necessary to polish could be painted with hammered paint for example.
The new Peddinghaus tools are from France since a while so you own the original Peddinghaus even made in W. Germany which is even better![]()
Moose, another pic from yesteryear... I miss this lil' dude, how is he? I for one could do with another car maintenance thread...![]()
@JayL:
Look out for a belt grinder with a rubber coated wheel to properly grind the dollies. Which MIG welder did you order ?
Also, what do you think about JMP chargers ?

"ATHLET" torx drivers
