I also painted the size stampings of my metric impact sockets with white paint so you can read it easier. But don`t hold up long though. I wonder how long the printed (?) ko-ken markings will last.

We have a SO dealer here, but not everybody in germany. Here`s the german snap-on map. They seem to be strong in eastern germany, the former GDR. But lot`s of blank spots in western germany.

Here are a few locking pliers on photo 1; sam, facom 500, facom511 the sam is quite comfortable to use but the rivets look really awful on the strained side.The two valve adjustment wrenches are from gedore.


photo2 shows a like new facom 3/4 set with all the metric weird sizes (35 38 42 52...)

photo 3 shows a czechoslovakian 3/4 socket that says " chrom tona vanadium made in czechoslovakia", although it's a bit old (pre 1992) it has the release button (see photo 4). If someone knows more about them don't hesitate to say it.

If someone has some questions about SAM tools I am willing to help.

I just did not want to wear it the one time I used it because I may sell it later , what you see is just masking tape to protect the surface, as I mostly use these on agricultural machinery I would prefer some used or ugly items.

The Blue Point Grip-Ons in "blue" seem to be almost another shade from the NAPA stuff I've seen pictured here, and def. different from the "Code Blue" blue of Channel Lock.

But I'll take a pic and let you guys see. I could be wrong. They are stamped with the Blue Point logo, so I do know it wasn't simply a matter of my SO driver getting the wrong thing at the distributor.

I do like the new blue though.

SO have light and dark grey. And Blue Point seems to have red (for welding GripOn and sheetmetal pliers) and now this blue for the c-clamp style Grip-On.

These are selling pretty well on the SO truck around here and are priced pretty decently as well.

To avoid the temptation of using a screwdriver , I decided to get a proper pry bar. These are well made and come with a hard plastic handle. They are sold as a set.

My biggest question is WHY couldn't Hazet fit their own screwdriver handles on those shanks

Ahoj , the sam pliers do not say france anywhere, the tension screw is chrome plated and so is the pushing spring I think I have seen some of their details on other pliers but I can't remember where. Mob in france means hammers and files the rest of the range is less available so I do not have locking pliers from them.

I took some time yesterday to browse the TONA website and it seems that some of their own tools survive here and there, especialy the deflection bar torque wrenches, big sockets and specialty bits you can recognize these tools easily because they are sold in blue steel boxes. They even have tool carts of their own. The prices are... oww... I would have thought good but it seems that stanley screws czech people by selling taiwanese mid range tools at facom prices.

None of the stores I went to had locking pliers, except for one place. They had a Facom 511 (I think) and it was expensive as hell. Couldn't justify spending that much.

Speaking of Narex...
If the quality of chisels were based on cosmetic appearance D), I'd give the Narex ones a Pictures don't do it justice.

I am not sure about the question ? I received these from the Hazet distributor and the box says Made in Germany . Chrome Vanadium is also on my old Gedore and Stahlwille wrenches . It is also on the Gedore tools catalogue.

thx for the info about the SAM pliers ! The MOB version is readily available here through any "Peddinghaus" dealer (special order though - never saw them live - only at the fair). Or maybe i get the Facom version - but only when they are on sale I like these "multi-grip" pliers.....

usually you see "Chrom Vanadium" on german tools and not the english "ChromE Vanadium". So this is/was always a indicator where the tool is from...
But if the Box says it then it`s all good

Good to know about these. I was working today with some Craftsman that I just bought new a few weeks ago. They have new and improved black handles with striking caps. Time will tell how the steel is, but I don't expect them to be that great for what I paid. I think 3 for about $20 or so.

I'll have to check out these Jerry chisels.

nice tools and good question !! I only know the red handled Belzer tools.... I only once saw a scanned catalog page with blue handled Belzer screwdrivers on a japanese blog (see below) and few other tools in the web, but "live" never... Gedore once had translucent blue handles, Belzer red, Dowidat green....thats all i know It`s difficult to find someone who knows about Belzer because they`re long gone, the red Belzer tools are sometimes still stocked...

Thanks Monte for the info, I do have one of the Gedore screwdrivers with the blue translucent handle. I've been on the look out for more but can not find anymore. Also I won another pair of blue belzer needle nose off ebay in Germany, but have not recieved them yet. Hope they did not get lost in shipping, its now been over a month and a half

Do you have a larger pic of the At+G normal size + stubby screwdriver (+ Ideal driver) ? I guess the AT&G drivers are from Felo. Here is a thread about AT+G click where a screwdriver was posted.

here something similar from Felo in in red. But it looks like the blue handles have "grooves" , the red handle "flats" in the handle.

Bahco still list them with red handle in their catalog, but the ones i saw had non-translucent glossy black handles and sleeve.

never heard of that..... The Witte "Elecplus" VDE driver with the yellow flocking is cool. Also no longer manufactured so keep them in good shape
btw: Felo mailed back and they said that they don`t manufacture the translucent handles anymore. They also have nothing left in stock.

Sometimes you still see here newer pliers from Austria with translucent blue handles...
PS: do you have a pic of the "head" of the pliers, it looks like the cutting edges are "offset" ...

Thats made by a different company than Stanley and is oftem rebranded here in the states. Stanley makes a bunch of tools now that are "made in USA with Global Materials".

maybe the Stanley scraper is made by "Personna" ("American Line") ?

I have five sets of the Witte Elecplus screwdrivers so I plan to keep at least one new set.

Thanks for checking with Felo on the screwdrivers and for posting the pictures of that scraper.

As for where I find this stuff I search the internet high and low especially ebay.

I got the gedore pliers from an auction in Australia, here are some close ups of the head on them.

As you can tell I really do like the translucent blue items so you ever run across any tools keep me in mind as I would like to buy them.
