Bhae Yes! That's the one I was thinking. Does Irega supply the Bahco ones too?

beelsr It's Panduit, with doubly sticky tape and every-other tooth cut out. Some of the stuff fits nicely, some not :) but it does save a TON of space.

or maybe from east germany DDR ?

@Vinko:
pic ?? :D

She always comments on how spending time with me in tool stores are the most boring shopping experiences she goes through with me. sigh... ;)

:D :D
The Kowa stuff is available from Webike. I also got a single 12mm wrench from them: a double box, zero offset, one end is 12pt and the other is a 6pt. I've found old "HM" wrenches at pawn shops here (HM = Honda Motorsports) and I think the OEM is Kowa.

Thanks for the link !!!

The spud wrench is, yes, for the collection. ..

:D

...but if I had nothing else that'll work, I'll use which ever end the job calls for..

I've done the job in the past, using a combination of either a flat head screwdriver with a pick or some needle nose pliers. Hopefully this'll make the next job easier and less time consuming.

Also have to do that ....but i guess i just buy a new radiator :D
Maybe these pliers work too ? (with removed radiator) Can´t remember how wide the "fins" are...?

@caseyjw:

WOW what a great post !!!! Never saw so many crimpers and strippers in one post !!!! :D
Cool !

The Milwaukee heat gun (i think ) is from http://steinel.de/
The Phoenix Contact Wirefox 16 you posted is from Jokari i´m sure ("Wirefox D-shield" too). The "Siemens Profibus" tool looks like it is from Weidmüller .
The red/yellow cable cutter you posted - you´re right - is from NWS. The other cable cutter with the black/blue handle ("Cutfox 18") is the "Sharky II" from Orbis. The "Large Ferrule crimpers" with the blue handles you posted will be made by Klauke (see page 10)

37893_1000_int_04.jpg
33.JPG

The Molex crimpers look like they are from Wezag

The regular mechanic pliers (3rd row from the bottom, except the cable cutter with the different handle (see above) are from NWS)
hl10_cl_tools_1_big.jpg

Thanks again for posting, also the pliers and screwdrivers etc. !!!!!!!!! Great tools !!!!

btw: which cable cutters and crimpers + strippers do you like best ?

The new Spanish made Bahco's are made by IRIMO.

The duck bill pliers are probably too wide for normal rads.....maybe for large turbo IC's it'll work?

@caseyjw,

Thanks for sharing all that; interesting stuff.

When I saw the Erem pliers I thought: Excelta brand?, but probably different.

@Dave,

Nice find.
Out of the 4 "adjusting pliers", it's interesting to note that the handle grip on that one is different from the rest. ....but the Keiba is 140mm long versus the 135mm (very similar, yes) but more importantly, the angle is 60* on the Keiba, instead of 90* on the NWS. A 90* would be painful to use comfortably.
And we don't know how thick the blade tips on the NWS are. The Keiba, as you can see in the pic, is almost as thin as you can get, before you start compromising strength/durability. It'll fit quite well in between those bashed fins.

A little background on the pliers:
It's a product as a result of a collaboration between Team LeMans and Keiba. Team LeMans has been around since 1969 in Japan, as has been in the forefront of F2, F3000, Formula Nippon, GT championships. It's a team that churned out big names like Michael and Ralf Schumacher, and Johnny Herbert.

I've seen a picture of these pliers in full chrome plating, with dry carbon handle grips.

Superautobacs,

Can you please explain why pliers with 60* tips are more comfortable to use versus their 90* counterparts?

Thanks,

What are the measurements of the jaws ?? 0,5mm thick and 3 mm wide ??

Here are some similar pliers with 75 degree from VBW. 140mm long.

Yup, you've got the dimensions right.

Hrmm, I'm curious if the Germans have had this type of dedicated tool from before. Are the VBW's recent releases, or have they been around for a while?

Purchased online from Japan. I have a friend to pack my purchases in Japan, who places them inside a satellite controlled model submarine. I control it from my computer so that it lands at the nearest beach here. :lol_hitti

I know why - because with the 90s your fingers will be too close to the fins. Ouch!

I see he doesn't share the typical Germanic sense of order... :lol_hitti

 you should see the hazet assistent cart that he posted here before.
Encore! :D

Servus,

a modest way of life ?? Cutters, pliers, stahlwille ??? how did that go with "a modest way of life" :D

It's a matter of point of view, of course. :bounce:
I also want to get a few Heyco maxline wrenches. Can you comment on them? I'm thinking about ordering them from Schuebo. Prices seem to be ok, maybe I can get an additional discount.

mhh no PZ with cap ??:headscrat The 5 pc. sets were on sale here for 39.- ea. 2 times i think and for 29.- once. (+vat) ok still not cheap because of the extra sizes needed but what can i do ....? :)

Yes, that is strange but should be true. The Würth employee couldn't find any PZ screwdrivers with striking caps in the printed catalogue. I checked the Austrian Würth website at home and, indeed, no PZ screwdrivers with caps.
EUR 39,- (without VAT) would be ok but if I recall correctly, the promo price was about EUR 55 (without VAT). I wasn't willing to pay that.
Do you have a pic of a (printed) Würth prospectus with the EUR 29 promo price? (I found a photo of the EUR-39-offer in an older post.)

you almost reached that goal i think.... by looking at your tools....
(or sell your car....:D ;) )

We seem to have a slight misunderstanding. I would have to sell lots of tools if only two of each kind were allowed. :shocking:
How could I take home new tools and material without a car?

Never heard of KLW/Lutz i think. The price is ok though. About what you pay for a Metec serie 60, but larger. They dont say how big the drawers are though. Judging from the size of the box Metec series 64 and 67 have bigger drawers than KLW. So if you look for something bigger... But for the price they seem to be ok if you want to buy new. Used would be another option.

A Metec for less than EUR 300? Really? Hard to believe, even the Metec 60050 (the drawer configuration doesn't fit my needs) seems to cost at least EUR 300 (without VAT).
I emailed KLW about the specs of their box some weeks ago but didn't get a reply.
The Metec series 68 would be nice, wouldn't it?
Vigor and Carolus should be another option in the class of reasonably priced toolboxes.

just some teaser pics. :) questions about the difference between the red and black saw probably would not occur because of the price level :D

Is the jigsaw we are talking about (already) available in the new world? I couldn't find it online.

i believe they´re imported. The L-shaped socket wrenches (Pfeifenkopfschlüssel) too i think. First i thought from France maybe but i guess Taiwan. Other stuff too, locking pliers, electronic screwdrivers, new torque wrench (KS design), T-handle with universal joint. I think i posted a list here or in the german forum about the import stuff.

Thanks for your input. I will contact Matador in order to ask them for a confirmation.

nice NOS Wiha screwdriver from the flea market

Very nice!

They don´t have a store in my city so unfortunately so i have to order everything through mailorder from their catalog.

While I enjoy tool shopping at stores, I also seem to like mail order. I can order independently from the stores' opening hours and unpacking a box full of new tools is a great feeling. :)

"VBW" is a common brand here, the regular mechanics pliers however are not very common, you usually see Knipex here.VBW pipe wrenches, water pump pliers and sometimes bolt cutters is what you sometimes see next to Knipex mechanics pliers.

The only VBW pliers I have seen on display at a local store were bolt cutters.

@caseyjw
Thanks for your great posts. You have an impressive collection of top-quality tools.

@superautobacs:
The pliers are common here, there is also a DIN norm for them, but they´re not intended for radiators. The VBW website says : -For straightening and bending contact and relay springs / -For gripping and assembling small components

Some are quality tools, but I get nervous just by looking at the photo :eyecrazy:

sorry couldnt find the 29.- price. I will look tomorrow if i find it. I´m sure i have it somewhere, when i ordered the drivers i asked for the best price and he said 39.- , then he asked his boss and she said 39.-. One month later the set was for sale for 29.- so i was pretty upset :). So thats why i know it was 29.- ....

only found the 34,95 price, and the jubilee edition price. 29.95 for the VDE version is ok too but no "Ergonic" handle afaik.

ok price is from 2007, i got mine for 199.- +vat in 2006 or so. I think they once were also cheaper on ebay instead of the 359.- €. They also once had a extra promo flyer for the tool boxes . How about a workbench with drawers ?

No, even better, because X-mas is only once a year. ;)

What is the common brand for bolt cutters and pipe wrenches in Austria ?

I'm not sure about the brands sold in DIY stores but many tool stores seem to offer Stubai bolt cutters and Gedore/Dako pipe wrenches.
I think Hornbach started to sell Unior recently.

Yes, "Strange, a pin punch with round handle." - that's what I thought when I opened the pouch. Initially, I wasn't happy because of the different shape of the punches but then I realized that I should definitely keep the "exotic" punch with its round handle.
IIRC, I couldn't find a manufacturer on the "Schlagfest" chisel.

As Monte asked me to post some information about my new jigsaw:

The new Mafell P1 cc

IMG_1373.jpg

IMG_1277.jpg

replaces my Festool PS 300 EQ.

100404_Trion_1979.jpg

The first thing to note is there are no conventional guides: no roller guide and no guide jaws:

IMG_1268.jpg

Nevertheless, the precision and accuracy offered by the Mafell P1 cc is impressive. You might ask yourself how this is achieved. Well, there are several reasons (according to Mafell and from my experiences):
- Mafell uses a new, strong sawblade clamping system
- size of the lifter rod: Its diameter is noticeably larger than on other jigsaws I have seen/used.

IMG_1276.jpg

IMG_1377.jpg

- The regular base doesn't tilt. As a consequence, the saw can't be set at 89° or 91° accidentally. The sawblade is perfectly perpendicular to the base. Mafell offers a tilting base as an accessory. Changing the base doesn't require any tools. Jigsaw and bases are machined to high standards in my opinion. Due to this, the base fits very well and can be removed easily within seconds at the same time.
- Mafell invented the triangular shaped Cunex sawblades. These blades offer great stability and enable the operator to cut extremely tight curves. Regular T-shank blades can be used, too. They perform pretty well unless you need to cut really tight curves or want to use the circle cutting jig. For these applications, I strongly recommend Cunex blades.

IMG_1253.jpg

IMG_1255.jpg

IMG_1261.jpg

- The lack of a traditional blade guide has several positive aspects: Roller guides never convinced me. Improperly adjusted jaw guides lead to friction which may result in overheated blades. The Mafell P1 cc eliminates this risk. Besides, the Mafell P1 cc allows you to insert the sawblade turned 180° (the teeth look backwards). This can be useful when you need to cut off a small piece at the end of a board and in case you work with small workpieces: The saw can be turned upside down and used as a "saw table" in such situations.

IMG_1281.jpg

Some interesting videos on youtube that illustrate the functions I described:
Mafell P1 cc #1
Mafell P1 cc #2
Demonstration of Mafell tools #1 (jigsaw at 3:30)
Demonstration of Mafell tools #2
Cutting "backwards" with the P1 cc

Have a nice weekend,

Chreese

Saw teeth adjusting pliers. Made in England. Says PSE No 77 inside the handle. Anyone know anything about it?
Inherited from my dad. Don't know when it's from but the first I can recall of it is late 70's/early 80's.
A real nifty tool to keep the saw blade going straight.

Have a nice day. :)

Servus, Monte,

another good option ! Custom made is always best.

I might use Ikea kitchen cabinets and build a workbench "around" them. The quality of Ikea drawers seems to be good and a variety of accessories (such as dividers) is available.

interesting ! Never saw Unior here...

Initially, Hornbach sold other brands (Proxxon sockets and wrenches, Wiha screwdrivers etc., if I recall correctly) but when I entered the store a number of weeks ago, the "hand-tools-wall" was mostly Unior.
Apparently, there are national and maybe also regional differences. As mentioned before, Bauhaus doesn't offer Matador in Austria, they sell WGB tools though.

i definately would keep it !!!! Or sell it to me !! :D
Just looked in the Magic 2009 promo catalog and the round punch is pictured there ! hm next time i have to look closer.....never noticed it until now.... :(

Indeed! I just checked my catalogue. The punches will be kept. :)

maybe they´re on sale next year again :) ...

I hope you don't urgently need punches up to a dia of 22 mm. ;) This year, there are some nice tools on sale as well. The 7 XL and the 1 B wrenches are tempting ...

thanks for the review !!!! Now I´m convinced !! :)

Does this mean that you already ordered a Mafell jigsaw? :bounce:
I will measure it as soon as possible. Hopefully, the rod is accessible with a caliper.

"WGB" pipe socket

And "Forum" pipe sockets:

There are not many news, rear fenders, roof, cowl are primered, still waiting for a lift to do the underbody and there is a lot of rust on the doors and trunk lid....

Servus, Monte,
I might use Ikea kitchen cabinets and build a workbench "around" them. The quality of Ikea drawers seems to be good and a variety of accessories (such as dividers) is available.

Servus Chreese,
Ikea and good quality ? First time i hear this :D ;)

Maybe they will change that here too when Unior makes better prices ?? Proxxon, Bahco, WGB, Wiha, Picard, Bessey, Pferd, Stabila, Rennsteig and Augusta-Heckenrose are sold @ the "Hornbach" store here. (Bahco saws were dropped (only socket sets sold now), now only Augusta-Heckenrose saws left, and "Olfa" cutters are gone too, now Wolfcraft cutters only.)

Indeed! I just checked my catalogue. The punches will be kept. :)

good decision !

I hope you don't urgently need punches up to a dia of 22 mm. ;) This year, there are some nice tools on sale as well. The 7 XL and the 1 B wrenches are tempting ...

No not really... :) I don´t know if i need these large punches - nobody seem to make them except Gedore. Smaller punches/chisels are on my wish list though, i think i´ll try Padre-Tirem/Benscheidt brand tools.
i think i´ll get a set of the "1 B" wrenches for at home... One of their combination pliers with the special finish too and i think a recoilless hammer which are even cheaper than last year and comes with free replacement head.

Does this mean that you already ordered a Mafell jigsaw? :bounce:
I will measure it as soon as possible. Hopefully, the rod is accessible with a caliper.

yeah expected delivery date is 2045 when i retire :D
When i´m pensioner and have the time and money for wood working tools i get me one from ebay - much more reasonable then i guess about 10 bucks used... :D ;) No a new jigsaw is not planned, only maybe a 6"/150mm orbital sander and maybe a Fein BOP 10-2 BUT other things are way more important like a lift and sand blast cabinet.
And "Forum" pipe sockets:
Have a nice day,

Chreese

nice ! Only the two or a wrench roll with a set ?

PS: nice Gedore flare nut wrenches !!

Got me this "energy station" for 19,95 € :)
even "Made in Germany" :) (with italian cable though :D )

Servus,

Interesting that the set has both 6 and 12 point wrenches. Nice!

Thanks. The reason is fairly simple: The smaller wrenches (up to 13 x 15 mm) are available in 6-point configuration only.

Servus Chreese,
Ikea and good quality ? First time i hear this :D ;)

I have installed a variety of Ikea furniture (Pax cabinets, desks, shelves etc.) during the past few years. In my opinion, the price/quality relationship is good. Of course, quality wooden furniture is usually settled at a higher level but if furniture built from particle boards meets your needs, Ikea is a good choice. I have four wall-mounted Ikea Faktum kitchen cabinets in the shop that I glued for additional strength. I don't think they would have turned out any better if I had built such cabinets myself but shop-made cabinets would have been more expensive.
Besides, Ikea uses (or at least used) high-quality Blum hardware for (some of) their cabinets. I'd check out the Ikea drawers - smooth operation and a max. capacity of 25 kg should be sufficient for many needs.

Maybe they will change that here too when Unior makes better prices ?? Proxxon, Bahco, WGB, Wiha, Picard, Bessey, Pferd, Stabila, Rennsteig and Augusta-Heckenrose are sold @ the "Hornbach" store here. I didn't pay any attention to the other brands sold at Hornbach.

Smaller punches/chisels are on my wish list though, i think i´ll try Padre-Tirem/Benscheidt brand tools.

Don't you already have enough punches? A Rennsteig and a Peddinghaus set? How about PB?
By the way, I also got myself a set of Peddinghaus Air Grip punches. Mine came in a red box.

i think i´ll get a set of the "1 B" wrenches for at home... One of their combination pliers with the special finish too and i think a recoilless hammer which are even cheaper than last year and comes with free replacement head.

Have you seen Magic combination pliers in real? If yes, how did you like the finish?
As for recoilless hammers, don't forget to buy one from PB. ;) And Halder Supercraft is very nice, too. The handles of the Supercraft hammers are usually longer than the competitors' ones.

I hadn't planned to get a new jigsaw, either. I ask myself what the top-of-the-notch jigsaws will look like in 2045.
A Fein BOP 10-2 - good idea, since you don't own any drills, yet. :lol_hitti
I do wonder why you purchased the Metabo 5" ROS. Does it make sense for you to own a 5" (Metabo) ROS and a 6" (Festool or Rupes) ROS?

nice ! Only the two or a wrench roll with a set ?

Only these two from Forum at the moment.

Got me this "energy station" for 19,95 € :)

Congrats. I guess "Lidl lohnt sich". :bounce:

Regards,

Chreese

Here are some of my recent ebay finds.
There are two Upat ultrakraft screwdrivers which have a super comfortable handle, then there is a gedore 4mm nutdriver and two meister phillips screwdrivers. Then there are three gedore pliers.

In this auction of Gedore stuff I won there is 14, 4.5, 3.2, and 2.5mm nutdrivers and then there is 1/2", 7/16", 3/8", 11/32", 5/16", 9/32", 1/4", and 3/16" nutdrivers and a three sided gedore scraper.
