Koken SAE socket set in a lovely metal box.
Regarding the Merry snap ring pliers - what's your assessment of the quality? Is there any slop in the joint of the pliers? Do the tips fit snuggly in the pliers? And are there five sets of tips with each plier?Latest from Japan.

These pliers are much better than typical pliers (straight mouth) for cutting cables due to their specific curved mouths for this use. Those pliers are interesting, like linemen's pliers with a nice cable cutter instead of diagonal cutters. Are they for a specialized purpose or is it just an original design?

Very good tool. For me, Tohnichi is one of the best brands of torque wrenches.Tohnichi SF12N 1/4" Torque Wrench.

RXtacy, a perfect tools of Ko-ken.
I have pending purchase of Ko-ken socket kits.

After about two (2) years of searching for a deal I paid about 50 pounds (UK) and got them: Vessel 8809BP
I didn't go through the whole 100 pages of posts and sorry if this is a re-hash, but what about Aigo box end wrenches?
I have a few of them, that were included with some auction items. The sizes seem to jump quite a bit, so they don't seem to be from a set.
My KoKen set of British Whitworth was purchased from a Triumph dealer in 1983 although it was manufactured in Korea. Came in a stamped red, metal case. Nothing too fancy, just got the job done. I've had several "Sears" hand tools which were made in Japan plus a Craftsman Industrial 4.5" grinder, also made there.

Interesting to learn that Westward sourced their impacts from Ko-ken at one point. What's the date code on those sockets?
BTW, it's cool to see a local here.![]()
After reading a lot about Vessel screwdrivers and how great they are, I decided to pick a few up. I ordered the +1x75 and +2x100 Megadora 900 screwdrivers off Amazon. I used them yesterday and today and I have mixed feelings about them. The tips work really well and I like that they're magnetic. The knurled shaft is probably the nicest feature. The handles leave something to be desired IMO. I was using them all weekend in a new addition and updating an old kitchen. They do turn screws though.

Just goes to show how handle size/shape is such a personal preference thing. I could write your exact post word for word except I'd put "Snap-On" where you have "Vessel". But I think the Vessel tips are superior to S-O and SO doesn't offer knurled shafts & the S-O aren't magnetic... S-O does turn screws though...![]()
I concur - I just got a Megadora 900 P2x100. The tips fit very well and the knurled shaft is really nice, but the handle is going to take some getting used to. I like the feel of my standard issue hard handle Craftsman P2, which fits my small hand better, even though the tip leaves a lot to be desired. I've got a PB Swiss P2 coming, an impulse buy that I tacked onto an Amazon order. Looking forward to seeing what all the hoopla is over the Swissgrip handles. After reading a lot about Vessel screwdrivers and how great they are, I decided to pick a few up.
