Looks great, you have a fine job, you should feel proud.

Can i give you a suggestion for lights, since you said that was next.

Baja designs fuego. Great lights, very tuff, bright, Hid or halogen, and they look great.

Nice lights. Doesn't look like you could do much better than those. Prolly not going to go that route. Pretty spendy. I would have twice the money in one set of lights vs the cost of the whole bumper. If this rig was going to be spending its' life on the trails I would definately consider them.

Thanks for the link

Real nice build, now you got to go to the back and cover your ***! I built this after momma backed into a traffic ballard (1-2mph?) at a toco bell, the factory bumper folded ito the qrtr panel. That won't hapen again. 4x8 structural tube! The horseshoes are (goodluck) for the guy that runs into it.

I know. I've been thinking about doing one for the rear. I do like your setup. Nothing is going to happen to your bumper.

The sad thing about modding your vehicle is once you get started you keep finding things that you want to do to it. It never ends:)

Sorry, those pics look like ****. I'll have to snap a couple in different light conditions. I don't think the camera likes taking pics of things that are black and white. I guess check back later.

Thanks

Wow. You really did an amazing job with that. It looks like something you bought not something homemade. Very jealous! Great job!

I just looked up you Fronteer gear bumper. Holy **** that is too cool. I was close to using treadplate, but opted for the smooth look. I am now starting to maybe regret my descision.

GiaG, Do you have a Tundra? I havn't decided if I want yellow fog lights as well as the driving lights. The only time I can ever remember using the yellow fog lights was during a mini blizzard and that was years ago.

I need to get these next decisions made before I start cutting out holes for lights.

I do like the idea of a bar to mount some serious off road lights. Were I routinly travel to and from work, I could actually use them because there is no one else on the road.

Edit: You mention an intercooler, must run a diesel. I'm pretty sure Toyota doesn't have one for the Tundra yet:)

IMO you made the right decison with smooth plate vs diamond plate. Looks great, do you have more fab pics?

Well done! Truly a great job. In the previous pics I saw you had the expanded mesh in front of the fog light holes. I was wondering how you were going to get behind the mesh to clean the lights. I see now that the mesh is missing. Again, well done.

I really like the bumper Koditten, love the tube on the front which looks like a good step for working on the engine and a good place to throw a heavy duty axle strap around for pulling it out of a mudhole or snowy place LOL. I am from Wisconsin originally and don't miss that road salt!

No patterns for this bumper, entirely hand cut and fit. Nothing written down.

I will be doing a similar bumper for my next project truck. This one is the baby brother to the Tundra. I have a Tacoma that is presently being put together. I will have tol fab a bumper for it when I get to that point. I'll look you up.

Thank you for the offer.

Fantastic job on the bumper! Matches the truck perfectly. Only criticism I would have would be to put the bar higher, to just above the cutouts on the bumper. This would give better performance from your driving lights too. But that's just nitpicking. Again, well done.

These driving lights are set to shine to the edge of the road in anticipation of seeing a deer getting ready to sprint in front of me. I wasn't looking for distance lighting with the driving lights. The off roaders work great for seeng waaaay ou in front.

I really appreciate you guys for reviving this thread. I see the bumper every day and it still looks bright as when I coated it. In 18 months I have found no flaking or rusting of the bumper. I'm very happy with the bed liner material as a coating for the bumper. I will be using the same system for the next bumper build.

Glad this got bumped, I need to build a bumper for my work truck soon and it gave me a few ideas.

I really like how yours turned out!!
The bed liner works well I have it on my rear bumper and fender flares and the lower part of the doors ( the doors to hide the rust, lol)
What brand did you use?

As far as getting sued for a aftermarket bumper when I was fabbing for a living a lawyer friend told me that if the air bags didn't go off no big deal as you aren't going to sue yourself and if you were at fault and did damage to someone elses car they would have one hell of a time proving that the bumper caused more damage than the stocker, even lawyers would draw the line at crashing a bunch of cars to prove something that can't be recreated.
