For you shop TV haters, they are more useful than just watching political commentary or Real Housewives' reality.

At home, I have a 3 car tandem garage.
The tandem part is my shop area, it's pretty good sized, I used to have my Wakeboard boat parked in that area.

TV is a 42" I believe, they are cheap now days. It'll swing around to view from anywhere in the garage, the bracket arm was customized of course, I had to extend it about 8" to do what i needed.

My strip curtains in the background can slide out of the way on a track. I have a mini split in the tandem so I can just cool/heat that area.
Full 5.1+ surround sound and it's hooked to my garage PC, so I can view Garage Journal or a Youtube how to video on the TV, also I can hook my PC to my Camaro's ECU and view live data on the TV from my car. (Holley HP ECU)

It's nice to have the News or something other than music on for background noise when you are DIY'ing in the garage.

All you guys who have a TV in the garage to watch YouTube tutorials - isn’t it really annoying having to watch the 18 mins of filler and navel gazing for the 2 minutes of useful content?

I always use YouTube on my phone so I can scroll through the stills to the part of the video that’s useful.

I wouldn’t say I’m against the idea of a TV in the garage…I just don’t see the point

I find utube frustrating for that reason. I would much prefer to skim text and photos than watch an idiot spend 20 minutes trying to promote himself or products while explaining 2 minutes worth of actual subject matter. But it is the future and we are stuck with it.

You can do the same thing on a computer on YouTube too, just click on the timeline bar and drag up. It will show the stills so that you can precisely select where to start the video. Plus its on a big screen so you can see it easier :)

You scroll through the garbage on the TV just like your phone, only a bigger screen.
I thought everyone did it that way.

I have a 32” in the garage, not only does it serve as a monitor for the “shop computer” it also serves as a “ noise box” I listen more than watch. I suffer from tinnitus and hear buzzing when it’s quiet. I can stream music, game shows (think Morgan Freeman’s character in the bucket list), and on weekends can even listen to a baseball game as I’m working on projects. It’s not a distraction from the work, more of a distraction from the buzzing Letting me think about the project at hand.

I find it way more annoying trying to work YouTube with a to remote. Trying to use the interface on a tv for pretty much anything drives me nuts

I would definitely use one as a monitor with a cheap laptop/PC. Easier to navigate things compared to smart TV apps, can use any internet radio/Spotify. Way easier to skip sections of youtube videos, plus you can use Adblock

I too have a wall mounted TV in the work shop/garage.
I can't remember exactly the size but in the 26/28" range ( Best Buy open box special)
I use it all the time for back ground noise.
It has lived there for over 5 yrs never missed a beat, but I took it a step further and cover it when not in use.
I used the anti static bag that came with the Tv, patched all the airholes with packing tapeand remove it when watching.
7' on the wall, but I can reach it no problem I'm 6'4"

I have a 43" tv in the garage. I used to watch some sports on it, but in the last couple of years, it's only music. It's an older unit and not smart. I have a Roku attached, but just use Pandora, SiriusXM, and Plex for music. I added a sound bar last year.

I've been contemplating taking the tv out and just using my phone to stream to the soundbar. That tv takes up a lot of valuable wall space.

You are clearly younger than some of us. For me a phone is primarily for talking to people, and only as a last resort for looking stuff up. I will use it if I have to, but not when I have a computer on my desk with a 22" monitor and a 37" monitor hanging on the wall above it. And yes, I can look at the still and skip the ******** with that just fine.

Do many of you have TV's in your garage? If so what size and can you post pics of where you have it set up at? I'm looking into setting up one in my garage just not sure on the size.
55" with soundbar added since the pic was taken. Biggest I could fit between the doors. Pretty easily visible from anywhere in my shop. I put it on a swivel mount so I can turn it if I want, but rarely do. Have a Chromecast on it to stream tv and the soundbar is bluetooth so when not watching tv, I am usually streaming music from my phone. I love to work in the shop, but can't be missing my Blue Jays games! I planned the mount location, so power and ethernet were available directly behind the tv.

No TV in the garage. I have an HP Touchscreen that I use for research and PDF manuals, you can find pretty cheap at garage/estate sales, I think I paid $25 for a couple.

I have an Estate sale receiver and several speakers that I stream online music, or music from one of the house PC's for background noise.

I picked up a nice 65" a few weeks ago at a yard sale, It picks up the wifi from the house. It sits on a table for the time being but will mount on the wall behind the bar, excuse me "project planing and discussion area". If a race is on,( road bikes, flat track or most anything 4 wheels on dirt, maybe even a little nascar once in a while) I would have the tube on but most of my work would have my back to it. But could always quit what I was doing and back it up when needed, like when you hear the announcers voice peak.

Most of the time I just have the stereo on though

I have a 65" Samsung with a soundbar that I picked up from Best Buy during a Black Friday sale. Cost me $400.

I have high speed internet in the barn and a nice mini-PC mounted behind the TV. I use a wireless mouse/keyboard. It comes in really handy for looking stuff up online, streaming TV, and watching Football on Sundays. I like having it on as background noise too. Sometimes music. Sometimes TV. When I'm in the barn, the TV is usually on.

For whatever reason, I seem to like having the TV on youtube premium or Spotify on for background 'noise' while I'm working in the shop. My mind seems to get in the 'zone' and stay there better with some background audio/video. There's a 55" about 7' off the floor in the corner of the working area. I have to look up a little to see it and it might actually be distracting at eye level.

TV is a little more acceptable. If the music is on, I can piss off the neighbors as I like to listen at some elevated volumes.

Kudos to you if you can do without it. Other than background noise in the shop, I hardly watch TV at all.

Internet is clunky on a Smart TV, so I bought myself a keyboard with a built in mouse pad when I occasionally need to look something up. Keyboard lives with the remotes in a little slide-out tray under the workbench.

The one downside is the fussyness of the TV. The high-freq on my TIG machine just drives my WiFi reception on the TV crazy and it drops the network. Sometimes it will come back on with cycling the TV power, but sometimes I have to reset the router/WiFi in the house too.

My Dad was trained to repair radar and do surveillance in Alaska in the 50s, so when I got old enough he and I would repair old TVs. My daughters boyfriend drop off this 1940s Admerial Tv to see if I wanted it. Now I am better at analog than Digital. 60 hertz's was the fastest chip when I went to school. So I have this CRT RCA monitor that will fit perfect but I had plans to mount it up high where the prior owner had a tv. Unless someone else wants them both? With color. As have built a new garage (see thread in appropriate subforum) during our renovations, we are going to turn the existing 16x19, converted carport as a dual purpose space. Sure, garage space when needed, but potentially a space we can use for entertaining. As such, we are thinking of adding one of these Samsung units to the ceiling so that it can play against the newly sheetrocked back wall.

Plugs in to the same ceiling plug as my garage door opener. Under $700, won't get in the way of anything else.

Bonus for us, we can always park a convertible in the garage and have our own private "date night".

I've been meaning to put a TV in my garage, having a couple extra just sitting in storage. I do have a laptop I keep in the garage.

Don't have a pic on me, but my current garage TV is a free 42" LCD TV mounted to a ceiling bracket that swings up out of the way when not in use. Antenna in the attic, and an Amazon Fire Stick velcro-strapped to the back of the TV.

I have a 24" Smart TV mounted inside the Hutch of my Toolbox for now. Drilled 4 holes and used Nutserts and a low profile mount. I just ordered a soundbar for it but i might ditch that and get a small stereo for my little garage.
its mostly used for youtube. amazon, XMradio etc

I don’t want a TV in my workshop, I feel it would be a distraction from what the shop is for
I get that, but you don't have to turn it on when you are doing real work.

I love having a TV in my shop for when I want to watch something (football is the usual), but I don't want to sit on the couch. I turn it on in the shop and I tinker with one of my projects. Most of my shop cleaning is done during Thursday night football.

I am the same. I just like the sound especially football. If no tv than radio and country music. I take it in the house and sing it to the wife.
