Location is now working, if you have one listed.

Post counts is now working, AKA called messages now.

It appears that most of the user titles are working.

I took location off as too many members have really long locations... and it was making the sidebar too wide.

Post count works...

Will look more into this once I have time.

Dude, you're delirious from a lack of sleep, go back to bed. 🤣

Serious question, how much coffee did you consume during the 39 hour marathon or was it Mt Dew & Dr Pepper ?

Between 4am and 11am, I drink coffee...

Between 11am and 4am, I drink diet DP.

A shitload....

Great job Ryan.
I can't tell if the (new, sans serif) font is rich black or dark grey. It kind of looks grey to me, but it could be because it's such a light font.
Other than that, I'm liking it. I think in the past I've been hesitant to click on a post because I don't want to wait the 4 seconds for a page to load. This is much snappier and I may end up reading more posts. It's a psychological thing I think.

Well done, Ryan. You've earned some sleep.

I recognize we gotta pay the piper, but I was kinda confused by the ads. Logged off, there are a TON of them. The note to register now (or log on) "to avoid these ads" seems to change the ads, but not avoid them altogether. Is that right?

There seem to be boatload of trackers -- I counted 69 of them on the page above at one point. That's a lot of stuff watching what we do, and kinda makes me squirrely. Did I see that total right?
Lots of tracking blockers are out there (I use ghostery) and you can block almost all ads with a dns service (I use adguard). No need to have all that stuff collecting your info

Can you put in a character limit for location ? I'm not IT but seems that would be the easy fix.

Easy to do... BUT, some guys have locations like this:

Location: In a Van down by the river

If I do a character limit, it displays like:

Location: In a V

Then they will have to edit their locations. That's on them, You've given them a whole new layout, the least they can do is get a little dirt on their hands. You can't do everything.

I know little about what you are up against. could you allow a text box with word wrap as the location position?
BTW - I like - Standing ovation for the change over. Take the weekend off!

Another Xenforo forum (for a smaller one-marque sports car club) I'm on allows locations and it's exactly as awkward as you noted, Ryan. Long locations and a list of vehicles owned that really clutter the formatting and after a time don't add that much.

But location can help when people reply to a question. A question about vehicle corrosion, for example, might get different responses to an Ohio resident compared to an Arizona resident.

Location is on the member card. You can see it when you hover over a username:

However, I think it's more useable under the username.

I think the best option would be to make the location character limited... I'm just unsure how many characters. I'm an emotionless robot, so I think just state (two character state code) and country (two letter country code) would be best. I think people would hate that though.

Boy, I may be an emotionless robot too, but ISO 3166 two-letter country codes and state abbreviations would work for me!

For now, I've increased the width of the sidebar and added locations... Kind of stop gap to keep people happy until I can figure a way to make it prettier...

Yep, font is really bad... BUT...To those unhappy with the font, go to your preferences (drop-down from your user name at the top) and change the "style" to "stock XF 2.2 style". This makes it similar to the old forums and much easier to read.
Can I get a screen shot or flow for this? I can't find it in preferences...

Probably already mentioned, but if I look for my past posts, many of them are missing.
About one per month is shown and I post more often than that.
To clarify, the posts are there, they just don't show up on my messages list.

I like the new look and layout. Looks really nice compared to the old blue.

One thing I noticed that threw me off was that "Posts" under the user name on the left side is now called "Messages". Not sure if this is something you'd want to change but I think "Posts" is the more correct term. Thanks Ryan and everyone else!!

Is there a way to auto mute the people complaining and not providing actionable constructive feedback? haha

Seriously though, I like it so far. Nice job.

Ryan the new format is fine, one look is as good as another. One small problem FireFox & Chrome have an add on called AutoPagerize. Once installed on most forums it automatically loads the next page once you get to the bottom of the page you are reading. Great time saver. AutoPagerize is working on the threads ie if i click to read a thread that window will automatically go the next page of posts when I get to the bottom of the page of the posts I am reading. But if I visit the site and click to see the new posts since last visit, AutoPagerize is not working ie I get to the bottom of the page with the threads with new posts and I have to click the next page. Not a big deal but I wonder if there is setting you can activate to get it working. Thank you

Android app still not working.
Open the site directly from the browser (just search from the search bar for garagejournal.com).
Open the forum page you prefer to start on.
Then scroll to the very top of the page and click on the three dots at the top right and select "Add to home screen".
Enjoy the new much improved android experience!

I went a little wider still and most locations seem to fit well now... Question is - Is this wider sidebar bothering anyone?
A tad wide, but looks okay on PC and tablet. Really loving how XF displays on mobile iOS. So much better.
Ryan, is there an option to disable the generic avatars?
The colors are distracting and take up real estate for no real purpose.
Much appreciation for the adjustments so far!

I feel like as useless as condom salesman at a clergy convention because I can't find it either.
I may be wrong, but I believe Ryan eliminated that option till he can get some other things sorted first. I think, for now, the stock XF 2.2 style is the default.

Is there an equivalent to "Search this thread" that I haven't found yet?

How long will we be "New members"?

Will there be a time limit for post Edit and Delete? (Please, please, please no.)

Thanks for typing all that out, but the question is about the Android app which I really liked. No word from Ryan if it's coming back or not?

Can't see on my phone so I will have to look on the PC later.

The new square avatars for those of us with avatars look better.

Some long signatures with a lot of white space... might want to limit that.
Luckily on narrow screens (mobile) XF deletes the sigs for us, but on a wider screen, just like just above this post: a lot of space gets "wasted".

Ryan,

I also found that trying to go the a new post typically took you to one in late April. Until that item gets to the top of the list, I've found that going back to the forum, e.g. General Tool Discussion, and clicking on the thread link will take you to the 'real' new post.

Edit: It may take several jumps out of and back into the thread to get to the 'real' new post.

Also I found that my location had been truncated. Until that one gets to the top of the list, I'll just put it into my signature. I've not found an edit feature for that so that I can shorten the one in the side bar.

Again, thanks for ALL of your work to provide this resource and your patience while we're dragged kicking and screaming into the future!

Delete post is now gone and edit older posts is now gone! Is this permanent? Say it isn't so.

Please enter a message with no more than 10000 characters.
Getting the above message. The vb character limit was 20000. I had a couple posts bumping up against 20000 characters. Did any threads get truncated?

Can the limit be increased to 30000 characters?

Font issue seems much improved for me, so all good there. Thank you for the changes.

Minor thing, maybe user error on my part, but when composing a new post I see smilies and such, but when responding to a post I don't seem to have that option, only bold, italics, font size, etc. Clicking on the three expansion dots (either of the two sets) doesn't seem to do anything. Is that expected? I believe I was able to use smilies in my reply yesterday in another thread, but not sure if that option has been intentionally removed or I am forgetting a step in what I am doing?

EDIT: I think it might be either just me or browser specific. Got this behavior in Chrome, but not in FireFox.
