Considering I have seen people pay up to $25 bucks for that box on Ebay, I would agree.

I've got enough old SK tools to fill up my own post but I'll keep to a few, hundred, or so. Here's a 3/8" SK Wayne set in a Blue box.

I found this S-K made 1/2" drive Artisan #4270 ratchet at a pawn shop for $10. This thing looks and feels new!

And here's an Old Sherman-Klove 1/2" drive set. It even includes the original inspection tag from the factory. The breaker bar is a newer vintage. If anyone wants to contribute the correct one, I'd be pleased to update the set.

Thanks Steve. It appears to have been little used, but it shows some age just from living in his toolboxes and jostling around. I plan to update the ratchet soon with the new SK fine tooth drop in head mechanism and start using it more. I also have a newer set of S-K combination wrenches (early 2000s) and some random older pieces. I will take inventory and post a photo of the vintage stuff. Too darn cold in the garage lately though, 7 degrees out.Welcome Bill. I believe the S-K Tools logo as seen on your case was in use from 1969 through 1985. I may be off a little but I think it's close.

Here you go Don. Oh, after I took that pic, I found a correct handle for my set. Now, only the sliding Tee handle is incorrect. Here is my 1/2" drive flex handle example of what might have come in your very nice set. Any chance of getting a larger photo of the tag that came with the set? Thanks,
-Don

That's a good haul Don. How did you clean the Adj wrench? Thanks for the picture of the tag. I think that I'll crop it and print off a few for my S-K sets. I found a few S-K pieces at an estate sale today. Just ignore the small sockets. The other pictures are a 12" adjustable that a fellow collector sent me. The first one is how it was received and the rest are after a little cleaning.

Here's an interesting little known factoid: SK tools made socket sets in the 30s (and 40s?) with the name Brazil on them The sockets are identical to "modern" SK sockets but say "chrome alloy" rather than "SK". I read that some of these same sets were left with no label on them so that local hardware stores could put their own label on. Excellent quality! Such sets with BRAZIL are EXTREMELY rare and if found in pieces people do not know what they are. Here is a really nice clean Brazil 1/4 drive socket set I found.

I have seen some of these scattered in a couple places. I have a few marked Chrome alloy. I have seen some marked Brazil. Not sure if any of mine are. I will be looking for them with intensity now.
Thanks for the information.

Congrats, that's a nice set. Your grandpa must have been a really neat guy to have owned those tools.
Maybe I made it sound as if I was buying a whole new ratchet, but the kit to convert the one I have to fine 80 tooth from SK was just twenty bucks shipped and I still have the handle I got from my dad. Already done.Bill, IMHO if I were going to change out the ratchet, I'd look for an older one from the 60-70's. I think they're better made, last forever as you can still get rebuild kits from SK for free, and it'll be much cheaper than a new one. If you know where to look you should get a 3/8" drive model for around $10. FYI, don't go by the part number as SK hasn't changed them since the 40's. Good luck.
Steve
Here lot sk sockets I picked to day most in really good shape haven't gone through it all yet lots of doubles and triples
I was lucky enough to acquire this knurled 1/4” drive set at an estate sale on Friday. Actually my wife grabbed it while I was parking the car. It seems complete right down to the crossbar and almost unused. It will be a very nice addition to my S-K collection.
