I believe the earliest Stanley advertisement pages with those vises I've seen are from 1910.

akasrick
Scratch all that Ranger the earliest I can find that I copied on here is this snip no adv.

"Stanley began selling vises in 1911 after it purchased the Philip J. Leavens "Jersey" vise business in Vineland, New Jersey1 The Leavens vises were small, bench vises with jaw widths of 1½ inches to 3 inches. Jersey vises were more of a mechanics-style vise than a woodworker's vise.
In the late 1920s, Stanley saw a need for a small woodworker's vise that was light and portable, allowing a carpenter to carry it from job to job. The Stanley Model Shop was charged with the mission to create such a vise. Christian Bodmer, one of Stanley's mechanical engineers with many tool patents, filed a patent with the United States Patent Office on December 17, 1927, for the woodworker's vise that would become no. … "

I don't have an attribution for the above.

four.cycle: Mark Manufacturing was a Chicago area maker of all things plumby and pipey around the turn of the previous century. They made two styles of pipe vises; a kit vise (with clamp attachment) and a hinged Latch pattern vise. I have no idea what Latch pattern means.

I tried to warn you away from pipe vises.

....
I'd think the drawing would make it obvious: One side of the vise has a hinge and the other a latch so you don't have to pass the entire length of the pipe through the opening.

I prefer the new-falutin' chain types myself.

As it happens.... I actually own a Saunders pipe cutter. I restored it for an entry in the "Hand Tool Restoration Challenge Contest" Post #137

Check out the thread but remember to read the rules first. It was fun and that thread deserves to be revived.

“Latch pattern…” I think that is “Salesman Speak” 🗣️ for the “pivoted yoke” patent.

Reducing the wondering, there's no Latch in datamp for a vise. Try the patent office when I get home.
Looking into the USPTO data base
Latch.in.
brings up 20 results, the first in 1925. (.in. is inventor name) But this doesn't account for the OCR only

Looking up
latch.lpar.
vise.lpar.

with an AND, reduces 16 million to 867 results, the first looking pipe vise like is this one from Glasser from 1864

Inrte
pipe vise patent found and an excerpt from it. Patent; US371805A

IMG_7324.jpeg
Interesting, in the one I linked right above your post, dated from 6/21/1864, he claims this

In all pipe-vises with which I am acquainted, as heretofore constructed, it is necessary enter the pipe endwise through the jaws. This, when the pipes are in the usual lengths, consumes much time and rapidly wears away the sharp serrated edges which are necessary to prevent the pipe from turning under the action of the cutting-dies, and it also renders necessary the previous removal of any couplings, elbows, or other fixtures which may happen to be attached thereto, while a bent pipe can be entered only with great difficulty,
The nature of my invention consists in a pipe-vise constructed with a hinge and latch or equivalent device in the frame, so ar ranged relatively to the jaws thereof as to permit of the frame being readily opened for the entering or removal of a pipe in a lateral direction, and when closed to hold the same as firmly and securely as when the frame is of the usual entire form.

Not sure how the patent office found your guys work to be novel.
