That old prentiss swivel jaw looks just like the big old vice that appeared in the Walton’s tv show, im a tragic for those old USA shows

5196: 14lbs. 9 oz., 3" jaws, opens 3 -5/8"
5197: 17lbs. 15 oz., 3-1/2" jaws, opens 3-1/4"

Sorry, no. I saved these mainly from posts on the main vise thread or other places, and usually no dates were given.

Outlaw: Thanks for that link. There is lots of good information. I'm not sure which Cman you think might be the same as the Samson Jr. There are several that are very similar. The main difference that I can see is the Samson Jr. has pipe jaw inserts and the others have cast in pipe jaws. On the other hand, I'm getting older by the year and my scanning skills and memory are beginning to show wear and tear. There's no end of fun and frustration identifying vises.

CRS, I was thinking the first older 1925 page in the upper right, but you are right, cast pipe not loose.

My best guess after looking at all the Sears Roebuck catalog scans available to me is that it's between (1927-1931). The following scans are from 1926 & 1932 respectively.

My Craftsman jr has no pipe jaws. Maybe the floating pope jaws are missing.

I have a Sears page with the Samson Jr vise, with the same prices as yours, and I have it listed as 1929.

My Craftsman jr has no pipe jaws. Maybe the floating pope jaws are missing.

From what I’ve seen, pope jaws routinely get removed from from combo vises that have pipe jaws below the main jaws.
Someone probably needed the extra depth beliw the main jaws, but gor whatever reason, the pipe jaws got in the way, so the pipe jaws were “temporarily” removed, then either list, or never got passed on when the vise was sold or given away.
I wouldn’t be surprised if 50% of combo vises with pipe jaws are missing the pipe jaws.

Thanks for posting that Reading info. Here's one I believe is a 202, 1-3/8" jaws, opens 1-1/2". I thought I had one of those 210's as well, but can't seem to put my hand on it.

WARNOCK STRAP VISE​

I didn't find any more information about the strap vise but Warnock also made strap wrenches for pipes.

1901 ad shows the No.6 had 3" jaws. No other specs.

The patent date of May 28, 1901 means that Presto models were made before the more famous Universal Machinists' Vises.

I didn't know Yuasa did anything but batteries, mostly for Motorcycles.

Dr Scott I think the Milwaukee is marked V114, V115, and V116; so likely cating/mold numberss?

Yuasa makes quality machinist equipment like rotary tables and adjustable angle plates. Not surprised the made vises too.

3rd pic says "Made in USA" and the "V" markings are commonly used by the various "Lakeside" companies.

In the past couple of months, I have posted 290 brochures I had in a folder. Mainly from the main vise thread, and other places I have seen them. I have about 240 more to add, then all the brochures I have will have been saved to this thread. I realize there may be some duplicates and some that others have already added. At least they will be posted and the info is there if anyone needs it.
