I just picked up one of these today. Does anyone have any more info on the 524? Very curious when it was manufactured.American Scale 524. 6" jaws that opens to ... and weights ... This is my working vise and it is missing the swivel base and has the same jaws as a A-Scale #25 jaws welded on.
I can’t help you on the dates but would love to have better pic’s for the spreadsheet if you don’t mind sharing. Nice vise by the way.I just picked up one of these today. Does anyone have any more info on the 524? Very curious when it was manufactured.
Interesting, looking at the 4th photo brochure, that vise looks more Reed than Yost or RAE.National Machinery & Supply 104-1/2
Company was located in Hamilton. Had business relationships with both Rae and Yost. Presently unknown if National made the vise or had it made by one of those companies.

The similarity between the big RAEs and Reeds has also been noted before, so something was going on there. So far, I haven't turned up anything to shed light on what the relationship might have been.Interesting, looking at the 4th photo brochure, that vise looks more Reed than Yost or RAE.
I have a sneaking suspicion that the National 104-1/2 vise pictured above was made by Rae. Here's a side-by-side comparison with a Rae 104-1/2 vise that I purchased a while back ( Post #87,154). The tell-tales include: (a) identical shape/size/styling, (b) both have the same "cast-in" jaw plates, rather than replaceable jaw plates, and (c) both have the same casting pattern ID number, 65, imprinted on the side of the stationary in exactly the same location.National Machinery & Supply 104-1/2

Very interesting, and I'd love to know if anyone has a Yost vise that indicates it was made in Canada.

Quite different to my 8A, even ignoring the swivel base.
Looks like it says Prentiss based on the visible "NT" in the stampCan anyone help me identify this vise? It’s 6” long, 4” tall with 2” jaws. The only markings I can make out are a 6T on the bottom of the jaw. The back jaw can slide out and is removable as you can see in photos. There is also some writing on the froward jaw above the screw handle and all I can make out is Vise C. Thanks in advance for any help!
