Railroad Vise. P1833 and P-1834. 8" jaws that opes to 10 inches and weights 172lbs. Here is a quote from Demoman about these custom made Railroad Vises.

"Yes this is a Railroad vise. Chicago, Saint Paul, Minneapolis and Omaha RR. I got one about 3 years ago and it came from a RR shop in St. Paul. I saw another at the LeSueur MN swap meet a couple years ago but it was too high. For some reason it says 7" jaws on the side but has 8 inch jaws and opens 12"."

I have two little vises, that I will be attempting to restore. They are not that bad of shape, only thing in on the Reed 205 1/2, the jaws are cast in place, so I really can't do anything there. The other is a Ridge or Rigid 61, that's in decent shape, but will be cleaning up soon too. I don't know how to upload pics here, I'm a newbie.

Oh my. I've seen pics and specs on the Reed 109 and Hollands 19 stationary base vises. Did anybody even know a 9" swiveler existed prior to this big boy surfacing?

This may be a JK Ware vise(?) It's been on the local Craigslist for a year or more.

sure looks an awful lot like a Reed

It likely was made by Reed. Like Craftsman, the Keen Kutter brand never manufactured anything. Keen Kutter was one of several house brands for Simmons, and later Shapleigh, Hardware Company, major hardware distributors headquartered in St. Louis. The Keen Kutter brand was used from ~ 1870 thru 1960.

Rock Island #97. This one I restored. It had cast in jaws that was not very parallel so I replaced them with Tool Steel ones.
6" jaws that opens to 11" and weights 140lbs. Ended up in a weld shop in Denver. Happy to see it back in service.

Very nice Kevin! Other than the obvoius jaw retrofit, I think my favorite part of your vise restorations is always the finish you achieve on the meatball and the new handle. Looks so classy!
