Thanks Chris
I do not screw around with the old handles, I feel the handle material I use is far superior then what they used back in the day and making handles is easy for me. This is a nice heavy duty vise and perfect for the weld shop.

I just cleaned this one up today. Pretty unusual vise if I say so myself. Traces of bluish greenish gray paint underneath the schmutz.
Double swiveller I picked up in a 3 vise package deal.

3 1/2 inch wide jaws...the ones seen are aluminum and probably installed by a previous owner and not the factory. This vise came out of a vintage Jeep restoration shop from the burn area in Santa Rosa CA.

Obviously missing the swivel lock handle.

Weighs 50 pounds.

Hey Shift, those jaws do not look original, are they serrated? Look like R-Island jaws assembled up side down. I see you made it home OK, enjoyed your visit. Kevin

Thanks Kevin...me too.
No, the jaws are smooth. They were quite beat up when I got the vise. I ground them down a bit with my flat bed belt sander. I’m sure they were added by a previous owner.
The vise came out of a specialty shop that focused on WWII Jeep restorations. Evidence showed it had a hard life.

OK guys, Joe shared these pic's of a 10" vise. Built by Erie Tool Works, model # 110. 10" jaws that opens to 16" and weights 455lbs even though the catalog page say's 495lbs. Vise is over 40" long. What a beast.

What should I put down as a model number? The pictures are a little blurred. Thanks for the help akasrick.

The highest vise number of theirs I see is a #990 in a 1914 Reference publication, so the 1,010 is probably about right for 1916.
Like all of them I consider them "examples of", seems they liked to use the anvils as a scratchpad for their information. This one is not complete with all the lettering, the drawing is faithful to what I see, after getting the gunk off in some spare time over a few days.
I think 1010 could be used, there is a couple of others kicking around maybe their owners have better examples and will see it on the spreadsheet and correct me.
They look blurry to me too looks like I have a big iron camera
Again hats off to you guys for working on the spreadsheet project.

Recorded, thanks aka.

I didn't know that eBay had "a way back machine"

Ended:
May 09, 2014 , 12:55PM

Up for auction today is an old Bonney/Lehigh clamp vise.
The vise is in great shape with some minor wear from use, some staining to the metal and minor paint loss. The jaws are in good shape with not too much wear to them, and the vise operates as it should.

The anvil is marked (it is worn, but I believe it’s)
Littlestown, PA, BONNEY, 1008, PAT MAR 21 1916.
The body is marked LEHIGH VISE, with an emblem and MADE IN USA on the other side.
The jaws are 2 1/16” wide. The vise opens to about 2 ½”.
Please see photos to best determine condition and ask questions.
Winning bidder agrees to pay 13.25 for shipping and handling which includes USPS tracking but not insurance.

The usual jaw widths must have been made

Thank you KMScott!

So that's where my vise went.......I looked at that first pic and said to myself "that sure as hell looks like my shop floor!" And it IS.

KMScott...Greetings and salutations!

Is it possible that it's an Athol no-91 instead of a no-16? I dropped you a couple of catalog pages to review. I've got several more examples with the same information.

Anyway, hope you're enjoying the summer!

Thanks Fierljeppen for catching that. Yep matches the 91 on the catalog page. An easy one to miss represent. Again Thanks.
