Months ago I started reading this entire forum, all the way back. Not everything, but the topics that interested me. I was on page 2617 when the upgrade happened. If I remember correctly there was approximately 3300 total pages. Now there's only 2128 pages. I'm bummed. Happy with the upgrade otherwise, though.
But is everything there ? Since Ryan isn't using a View All option as the bandwidth costs too much, he has increased posts per page to 40 from the VB version of 25 (IIRC). This would account for the smaller total page count.

Do the math Doug, page count x post per page. Im pretty sure we're good with no losses.

After playing with it a bit I am getting used to it. It does look good and very modern.
appreciate the hard work Ryan and all that make this place what it is. I only come to this forum and a Harley forum and I know the Administration and moderators do a great thankless job so Thank you.

I think the new format looks great! It’s clean, and bright, and fast as hell! Thank you for the upgrade.

I need a break, so let me give you some context...

My neighbor has had secret service stationed outside his property since early this year for reasons we won't break forum rules for. I don't like this neighbor much, but have grown to become pals with his secret service detail. They are good guys... interested in cars, tools, working... you know, real ****... I bring them coffee at least one morning a week.

Anyway, about a month ago they apprehended someone right outside my property. Was this some crazy political activist or the like? Nope. A banned Garage Journal member looking to get even.

So yeah... My mind tends to wonder every now and then.
oh boyyyyyyyy. scary stuff. A testament to the passion on this forum.

Sorry Ryan, maybe it wasn't called garages. If you clicked on a username and it took you to their profile many people had photo albums in their profile showing either their shops, cars, etc. You could click on the individual photo albums and it would take you to multiple pictures inside of each album. Sorry if I can't remember the exact nomenclature of the feature. Hopefully by description you'll know what I mean.

Thanks.
I have been unable to find my photo albums either. I rely on them for my photo hosting here. The photo's are showing up in posts I think but not being able to find the photo album I cannot use the photo stored there in a new post. Another feature of the old software was the ability to see posts started by me. I can see all posts though.

Any way thanks for the new software and I'm sure that it will become comfortable to me in time.

I will look into photo albums… I know the data is still there.

Only problem I have is when I click on a thread I have not read yet, is that it doesn't take me to the first message but to some random post so I have to scroll to the top to see the first post in the thread.

It’s probably coming, but if the there was a “dark mode” style available select to make the forum white text on black background, it would be perfect IMO.

Damn, my quote button not working with Tapatalk, I may have to give it up.

Anyway, Ryan, maybe you need a bigger ban hammer.........

I'm really glad I didn't post my first impression. Didn't recognize anything, didn't understand anything but every time I visit it grows on me. Thank you Ryan!

It's like rice. If you've only ever eaten Uncle Ben's, Basmati and Jasmine tastes terrible.

Great job!!! Many people have no idea how much work is involved. There will always be a learning curve when it comes to changes to sites.

I have to sincerely say Thank You for providing Us with The Garage Journal Forum.. The variety of topics, and the clean cut manner in which discussions are conducted is much appreciated. I recall the Great Northern Railway Depot Agent using a telegraph, and local phone calls being connected thru the Local Operator. Time hasn't stood still, and technology upgrades have occurred regularly. Thank You for Your commitment and efforts in keeping GJ up to date.

I use an Ipad along with my PC, the site is VERY fast on the Ipad! Huge improvement. Don't have a Kindle to test...

Thanks for your hard work for continuing to support this site. I spend time over at greeentractortalk and they switched over also so I knew what to expect. This is much better.

Clear the cache on your Kindle browser and close all unnecessary tabs. The site runs flawlessly on my 7 year old Samsung Galaxy S5 phone, so I don't see how it could be an issue on your Kindle unless it's positively ancient.

Don't forget you can also change the zoom factor on your web browser.
I'm running about 85% and the font size is perfect for me.
