Love this thread, i have always been a bit fascinated by Russia, mostly because it´s so close but yet so far away ( so little information about Russia here in Sweden)

I´ve heard stories from people that used to frequently visit Russia actually bought old VAZ cars and left them by the border in Finland and when they were going to Russia they parked their cars in Finland and change to the old VAZ before entering Russia, otherwise they would been caught by the police..

You are doing a great job showing us all the pictures from your country, I would love to go and visit Russia, and your pictures make my desire even bigger :rocker:

Stas,

Thanks for sharing. It never ceases to amaze me how it seems that life everywhere ... "it's the same, only different."

Since that may not translate well ... it's means that no matter how different our cultures are, we share so many things that are the same. Everyone does the same things, but we do them a little bit differently, and we reach the same result.

Your Christmas tree looks like mine, but each is a bit different.
Your car battery goes dead and you have to charge it with a charger that is similar to one we might have but our charger looks a bit different.
The streets of your city look like our streets but the buildings are different.
and so on....

we have cats that are curious about Christmas as well ... here is a picture of one of ours sitting under the tree after she messed up the tree skirt!

In regard to your cold temps, our cold spell is ending (we had with (almost) -40C temperatures, and -50-ish wind chill for the last two weeks). This weekend we are supposed to be going up to -2C on Saturday. I'm going to have to get my shorts out!

Cheers!

Glad you included unorthodox Christians, too:D

My opinion about religiosity is that faith is primarily in the head, and not in the frequency of visiting the church and performing various religious rites. I believe in God, but I consider all these pretentious buildings of churches, all these prayers, icons and others - excesses. Religion should not become commerce, which I see everywhere, regardless of direction, Christianity, Buddhism or Islam, etc. :)

Stas26,
I've been reading your thread from the beginning.

I live in Michigan where it has been much colder than normal for us for the last 2 weeks, but obiviously not anywhere near what the temperature is right now in Siberia.

In regard to religion, you have stated it exactly as I see it.
It's what in your heart (head) that matters not all the rituals, donating money, etc.

Thanks for sharing...we are getting Siberia temperatures here too!
So I bundle up with layers like you, think about being stranded in my car if it fails and keep an emergency kit of blankets, candles, sterno fuel, and matches, lighters, etc.
You got me curious about business practices at your work in Russia, when I saw this reply from you.

You mentioned you don't go on vacation very often because of your business.
We work for vacation days and if we don't take them before the end of the year, we lose them...unless you are the owner of a business.
Do you own a business?
Are you the boss, owner?
Does your business provides a service, produces commercial products, or provides advice to other people?
What do you do at your business?
How many hours do you work each day?
How many holidays do you get a year?
Does your local government provide monetary incentives for the business?
In our country, if a women or ethnic minority owns a business, they may get a lower tax rate.
Just curious about why you don't take vacations and what government does to promote services and products in the country.

I am the owner of a small auto-parts store for Mazda. We buy cars at auctions in Japan, we bring them to Krasnoyarsk and here we are already dismantling auto parts. This is similar to your junk-yards, the only difference is that these machines were not operated in Russia, therefore the quality of the spare parts is much better than those who buy cars for parsing after the accidents on the roads in Russia.

Now I sell used spare parts and new ones for Mazda. I am a lawyer, I graduated from the Siberian Federal University, majored in jurisprudence and worked for several years as a hired worker in different companies, the last place I worked at was a construction company that repaired the premises. I worked as Deputy Director for Legal Affairs.

After I quit, me and my friend Dmitriy (we studied together at University) opened a Law Agency "KrasYurist" (in english "Krasnoyarsk Lawyers"), we mainly engaged in the return of driver's license (drunk driving, departure on an oncoming traffic and other violations, responsibility for which prescribes punishment in the form of deprivation of a driver's license) disputes with insurance companies for payment of insurance as a result of road accidents.

Each case in the court on affairs connected with driving licenses brought us approximately 1000 dollars of profit, in 2008. These were great times, we were engaged in an interesting business and received good money for our work. In Russia, very few people know and use laws to protect their rights, believing that all this is nonsense and do not waste time on it. I think that this is wrong and civil society should defend its rights in court on any occasion, so that the state would be considered with its residents.

From a certain point in time, the state changed its position very harshly for such violations of traffic rules and the courts began to make almost always accusatory decisions, despite numerous violations of the procedure when they were issued by traffic policemen (traffic police). We decided to engage in another type of activity, namely trade :)

At that time, I was already independently engaged in business on bringing cars for spare parts from Japan and their analysis for spare parts in Vladivostok (Primorsky Territory). The scheme was very simple, I bought cars at a Japanese auction via the Internet, sent them to Vladivostok, my friends received them, dismantled cars on auto parts, car parts were packed and, according to my instructions, sent to customers across the country through transport companies.

We decided to start our auto parts business in the center of Russia, in the city of Krasnoyarsk.

We ordered 2 cars in Japan Mazda 3 and Honda Accord. We began to look for a warehouse, where we will dismantle these cars on auto parts.

And so began our business, however as it often happens, business with friends is better not to start, I bought a share of Dmitry in a year. But we remain friends to this day.

How many hours do you work each day?
I, as a business owner, always work 24/7 because I love my job and I want it to grow! I answer the phone, develop a development plan, supervise my assistant in the warehouse (although I'm there 3 times a week now), I make auto parts supplies, I advertise and promote business on the Internet.
How many holidays do you get a year?
I do not have holidays like an employee at all, because even when I'm in Vietnam on the beach, I hold a smartphone and check the mail, website and other applications of potential customers.
The labor of hired workers is regulated by the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, according to which they have many rights, including rest, sick leave, and so on. The employee is obliged to use annual paid leave every year, in part he can be compensated by cash payment. As a business owner, it does not matter to me, I am my own master.
Does your local government provide monetary incentives for the business? [/QUOTE]
Our state has been around for 25 years, since the collapse of the Soviet Union, screaming that it supports the small business, in fact these are just words. The best support for small businesses in Russia is not to stop him from working. For example, various checks, rules and other delirium, which contains our legislation. When Putin came to power, it was a fairy tale, because he signed a law that the business in the first 3 years of its existence can not be subjected to any checks at all, except for those when some incidents occurred. I'm grateful to him for that.

In Russia, you can conduct business as an individual entrepreneur or as a legal entity (limited liability company, joint-stock company, municipal enterprise, federal state unitary enterprise, farm, simple partnership, etc.)

I am an individual entrepreneur. This is an individual with some rights as a legal entity.

The system of taxation of business is different. For example, I have a simplified taxation system, I pay 6% of income + (payment to the pension fund and the social security fund is about 450 $ per year)

So far I figured out you cannot buy a Russian made sports car, there isn't a Russian made snow blower for residential use, and you work a lot....:lol_hitti

To produce sporcars need a suitable school and market. In Russia, very low incomes, so afford a car for 40 thousand dollars can very wealthy people, but not the majority. A sports car for 100+ thousand dollars is already very wealthy people, which are very few. Concerning the production of snow-removing machines, we produce them only for utilities, for private use, I think it's cheaper to take them in China. In general, the theme of production in our country is sad, our country is only sharpened to sell resources and the government likes it very much, stuffing its pockets out of thin air.

In Japan, there remained the body and interior, the rest came to me in Krasnoyarsk.

Oh joy ! The wind chill overnight is going to be -30F (-35C).

Now THAT is cold !

Thank God, we have warmed to -10 celsius, but again it started to snow :)

Sweden is not far from west part of Russia, you can go on an excursion to St. Petersburg, I think from you the ferry goes.
Scams with cars are very common wherever possible. But I am negative about all this.

Very interesting details about your business!
I have the same mentality regarding being the owner of a business versus being employed.
I work a lot more than the guy that works for me. I do twice the work.
For example, today is Sunday, but I still had to to some offers for parts and labor for some clients.
Being your own boss is great, but it's also very demanding.
Not anyone can do it.

I agree completely with your view on religion. So did the Apostle Paul.

Thanks for your resume and company description! Very interesting. All partnerships are difficult, they only work well when there are people of different skills who need each other. Then usually one tires of having to do most of the thinking.

Very nice to be able to operate your business as you see fit, and to make the gain when you try hard. I assume your 6% tax is on actual sales amount, not a calculated profit. Even 6% on gross sales would be low by U.S. standards. It would certainly simplify our tax code.

Do you ship Mazda parts out of Russia?

So under Putin's law is there an incentive to start a different business every three years?

On spare parts for trucks and special equipment you can make good money, but I do not know about trucks anything useful.

Impressive system for parts.
In general, nothing complicated, the main thing is to think with your head and have straight arms :rocker:

I think you can take the car to parse for parts in England, and if you want excellent quality in Japan, let them have the steering wheel on the right, but it's easy to find analogues with the European version, and the price and the quality of parts is much better than from Europe. To make good money you will have in your case to take a container of parts.

Thank you for the summary of your careers and current business. Very impressive and I believe you will continue to grow on business because you work hard and provide good products. That is a good process for success. The used car parts business always seems to be a good one in all parts of the world.

6% is taken from all receipts, not profits, it's quite a lot, but you do not need to keep accounting records and collect all documents on expenses that may not be accepted by the tax service. There is a 2nd type of simplified taxation system, called income minus expenses, there is paid 15%, but only on the difference between income and expenses, which you must confirm with accounting documents (cash vouchers, invoices, invoice-factures, bill of lading etc.)

Do you ship Mazda parts out of Russia?
We ship spare parts among the CIS countries (the countries of the former USSR - mainly Kazakhstan, Belarus, Ukraine) if necessary. I want to start selling parts through the Ebay auction, but until the hands reach it. A couple of times I was received an e-mail from the United States, Romania, Spain but they did not order anything.

So under Putin's law is there an incentive to start a different business every three years?

Some large stores and companies change their legal entity every 3 years to avoid planned inspections. But this can not be secured against unscheduled inspections on complaints of citizens for example.

The car comes entirely, but cut in half and then fastened on brackets so that it can be put on the truck and rolled off it. According to the documents, it is listed as the front of the car and as the back of the car, that is, the car parts.
It is necessary to calculate the economy of a particular model, for example, the door to Mazda 3 or Mazda 2 costs different money, and freight, customs and other costs are the same.
We sell half of the spare parts with dispatch all over the country, so it is rather important to have a number of cars all over the country and a rarity of spare parts for them

Yes, thank you for filling us all in on your occupation, I kind of figured you were in business for yourself when you mentioned you didn't take vacations.
You also mentioned picking up "parts" from this place....

Hi for all peoples!

Today in Russia the OLD New Year. I think it's sounds very strange for the rest of the world, like an oxymoron, but Russia is a unique country and our language is difficult to understand. It's very simple, at the beginning of the 20th century (in 1918), we switched from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar.

On December 31, I celebrate 2 holidays at once, my birthday and the new year. This year I decided to cook shashlik on the festive table.
In the evening of December 30, I started preparing meat. I love to cook shashlik from the pork neck, it's a fine tender meat with veins of fat, it just melts in the mouth.
First, cut the meat into cubes, about 5-8 centimeters in size.

Then cut the onions. This time I wanted to use vinegar for marinade, we use 1 teaspoon per glass of water, the water should become slightly acidic, do not overdo it with vinegar it is very dangerous!
From spices I used black and red pepper, salt, and a hellishly burning mixture of chili peppers, which was brought to me by my classmate from Thailand.

Sprinkle the meat with spices, salt and add the onion, then mix everything very well and put it in the refrigerator for the night.

In the morning I went to visit my father, who lives 5 minutes away from me in a private house. These are cottages with central communications, water, sewerage, electricity, heating.
On the way I took photos of several houses, wealthy people live there, with a wealth above the average in the city, but not oligarchs :) Just people work well, not stopping at the result.

I jokingly call this part of our street "The Alley of the "Poor" (аллея "бедняков":lol::lol::lol:

Behind the houses is a forest and a city lake. From my window through the road you can see a forest and behind it is a city lake

First we dug up the brazier from the snow and kindled it. While the firewood was turning into coal, I put the meat in the grill and skewers. And then the process of magic began. About 15 minutes and the magic shashlik was ready. Unfortunately the photo can not convey the fragrance :)

Let's start!

In the evening I put it on the festive table, it's a pity that not immediately after the frying, but it was still very tasty.

After the new year we got frosts under -30 Celsius, at which time all the pines are divinely beautifuls, but on the street for a face is very cold :)

On the way to the post I took a picture of a pine tree, it's cold to her, but she's insanely beautiful.

Stas best wishes to you and your family also. Great insight into the soul of Pine tree. I am of Native American Indian blood. I believe also that trees heal in both physical and emotional ways. In the whisper of a pine can be heard the echo of your hearts longing. Bobby
