Added a handle to a flex 1/4" Duralast. The handle was pretty slim to begin with so a screwdriver handle donated itself to the Frankenstein build.

This ratchet also features a clipped spring. After the few mods I made it seems to be a pretty dependable and solid ratchet.

The length is now extremely comparable to a 1/4" locking flexhead Matco 88 with a handle.

I went with the smallest handle I could find in the store, a #0 x 3" Phillips handle.
I believe the T10 x ?" (3"??) has the same handle size if they don't have the #0 Phillips.

I also used a few drops of Gorilla glue inside the handle for some added strength. I think it would have compressed onto the handle and held tightly but I ended up using the glue as a backup.

I elected to go with the soft grip instead of a hard handle. I don't really care for the factory ratchet handles on their 1/2" ratchets so I might be switching it over to a Snap On handle or larger screwdriver handle. Not too certain yet. Or I may try and find a black hard handle for it instead???

Hello from Finland! Here is my, recently customised, 1/4 drive ratchet. Handle is from old Bahco phillips screwdriver and the ratchet itself is chinese/taiwan made "cheappo". Sorry for the bad picture.

Here's something a little different

It started out knurled, but the rust had pitted the whole ratchet so badly that I had to use a belt sander to smooth it all out and then polish it.

I decided to grind right through the knurling and shape it a little

Here is one I did this morning. Harbor Freight 1/2 ratchet cut down and Harley steel shift peg. drilled peg .015 undersize. Heated shifter peg in the oven for 35 min at 250 degrees and put ratchet in the freezer for 2 hours. Tapped the peg on and let it cool. Now I have a 1/2 stubby. What do you think.

It's a Stanley Hi-Vis screwdriver handle, on a Proto ratchet. Simply bored the screwdriver handle for 5/8", and tapped it onto the ratchet with a mallet. Simple.

so what do you gusy do to the screw drivers after you have harvested them for the handles i was thinking of welding scrap bar stock to the top of the shank so that way the screw driver is still useable something like this in the picture below

I would like to think people are using worn out drivers, or drivers with junk blades (Like mine) for them. I know some are NOS handles.

set screwdriver in vise, use a panel popper pried against a wrench which is set up against the base of the shank.

there are tutorials showing it on this forum

Todays offering. I picked up a screwdriver Saturday for it. Next the 3/8.

The old handle was hell to get off. I cut it off with a dremel. After that, it was smooth sailing. Although I did find a little piece of paper with some funny characters on it inside the handle. Between layers.

I just did a couple today. The FH80 I got from Jaysonb here on the GJ. On the FHNF100 3/8 roto I used a SPB8A pry bar handle and the THNF72 1/4 roto I used a SDD146 screwdriver handle.

I used to have an FHNF100 like that! Never used it, and gave it to a friend though.

The handle wasn't keen on going on, but a 20-ton press did a good job of persuading it to fit.

My first and only custom handled ratchet. This was a junky Thorsen flex head that had had the handle chopped down by the PO, I'd actually been thinking of throwing it in the scrap bin to free up space in my box but figured five minutes on the lathe and an extra hard handle would be a better solution!

Well this thread inspired me today to replace the handle on my Husky Pro ratchet.

I love this ratchet it is so handy, but I really dislike soft grips, so my only gripe with the ratchet is the handle.

A year or two ago I found a plastic handle vintage phillips screw driver rusted beyond use in the dirt, I usually keep stuff like this so I tossed it into a drawer in my shop knowing that I would 'need' it someday...

I like what it says on the handle too:

In haste I got a couple of vise marks on the handle, no worries the handle has it's share of nicks, next time I will pad the jaws.

sweet! where did you get that orange made in canada handle?

Before putting the screwdriver handles on the ratchet, cut off the handle end of the ratchets and drill them out to press in the screwdriver blades, then you can have ultra rare hard handled screwdrivers...

I find this interesting; and I can appreciate the ingenuity and workmanship involved in adding a custom (usually plastic) handle to a ratchet. It just seems evil to put a "name brand" handle on an off-brand ratchet. Maybe if the "name brand" was obliterated or otherwise removed somehow. Craftsman handles on Craftsman ratchets...sure. Snap-On handles on Snap-On ratchets...sure. Stanley handles on a Mac ratchet...well, at least both companies are in the same Corporate Collective. Snap-On, or Mac, or Craftsman handles on some generic junk ratchet...that's just WRONG. Kind of a "delusions of grandeur" thing.

I do get a kick out of using a Harley footpeg for a stubby handle, though.

The big "orange handle" collection looks pretty. I'm jealous. I'd want to put 'em in display cases, for decorating my shop. Clearly, THAT'S not going to happen any time soon.

Kobalt 1/4" drive roto-head with Craftsman screwdriver handle. Nothing spectacular, but I made this to take to work.

Bahco ratchet with SO handle.

Not exactly custom handled, but this Heyco now serves as custom made palm ratchet.
