OK.
I just looked at the ad again and it says Thursday and Friday only @ select Sears stores for that deal.
Oh, and one more thing, I saw someone buying one of those rolling seats with storage that some of you have been eyeing - during the first 20 minutes of the doorbuster preview event this evening. I didn't see how many they had in stock, but it seems like it's going to be a big seller, so you might want to buy yours sooner rather than later if possible.
Buuut the unpleasant people on duty at my store this evening refused to price-match the Sears website, one BS excuse after another, first time in probably a year and a half that I haven't gotten a price-match when I asked for it (regardless of whether the website says "online only"), since they had decided they wanted people buying in-store as much as possible. Apparently they don't care anymore. So I put both of those back and was about to leave in disgust <cut>
Haha welcome to my life. You so much as mention the website at Chula Sears and they almost call security.I just got back from my store. I was thinking about getting that and the wide-capacity pliers ($30, on sale for an unprecedented $13.69) to use my $15 in-store-only offer. That didn't work out, for reasons I'll explain next, but first I wanted to say that in spite of the universally favorable reviews (the only 1-star review is from some silly person who clearly meant 5-stars) on that digger (short-handled mattock), it didn't look as nice in-person as on the website.
Very visibly uneven castings on the heads (one with about a quarter-inch divot in the thinnest part where it wraps around the shaft), one had stress marks and scrapes on the fiberglass shaft near the head like they had trouble getting it on, and the other ones had scrape marks all up and down the handle. Made in India, which is usually worse than China. (The only tool from India I've been impressed with so far is the micro flush cutters from Harbor Freight, for cutting zip ties.) HF has a similar mattock that is hopefully not as disappointing-looking in person, but it does cost twice as much as this Sears sale price, so I was going to give the Sears one a shot anyway, after picking out the one with the least-uneven-looking head.

Craftsman 3pc Door Trim Tool Kit
https://www.sears.com/craftsman-3pc-door-trim-took-kit/p-00949290000P
$10.99 in-store-only sale Nov 4 to Dec 1; $18.31 previous-best-seen-sale, $24.99 regularly
And to get over the $15 total I needed, I added the bottle opener that looks like a wrench - been wanting to pick one up eventually, and it turned out to be on sale in-store all month for the same price as the website (and until today when the website price dropped from $6.99 to $5.99, it was even beating the website price... but with the ridiculous way Sears runs things, there was no way to know without wandering through the store).
Craftsman Cap Wrench Bottle Opener

$5.99 sale, $14.99 regularly
So at least I didn't leave empty-handed, got the $15 out of the way, and a different cashier opened another register right before it was my turn to check out so I didn't have to talk to the rude ones again.
Another item on an in-store-only sale that I spotted, didn't work out for my combination but could be a good filler for someone else:
Craftsman 4oz Cutting Fluid
http://www.sears.com/craftsman-4-oz-general-purpose-cutting-fluid/p-00952329000P
~$2.79 (it was somewhere in the upper $2s) in-store-only sale Nov 4 to Dec 1,
$4.00 previous-best-seen-sale (though I haven't watched it that closely),
$4.99 regularly
For the record, if you have less-unpleasant people running the registers at your local stores, the actual policy on price-matching the website is supposed to be that they can't do it from this Thursday (Thanksgiving) through the following Wednesday. There were several reports of people at other stores being able to get price-matches in-store during this big online sale.

Picked one up today in store. The $15 surprise points did apply when I checked out at the register. This thing is a tank. Weighs over 20 lbs, and the seat is supported on all 4 corners. The seat is hinged so you can store items under the seat as well as in the drawers. Pretty good deal even at $45~ oop if you use the $15 freecash. No regrets, took about 10 minutes to put together. It is all one piece out of the box, other than attaching the handle, seat, tool holder, and the 4 casters to the main unit.
I have some cheap U shaped seats that were $20-30... this thing is much more sturdy and much better built than those.
My local store is closing so can’t get any of these prices there. Liquidators took over so it’s 20% off list price. No matching online prices. Shipping kills most of these deals ...many items don’t qualify for free shipping (over $59).
I don’t know if I’ll ever use them, but I’ve learned the GJ way is to buy three of a tool just in case.

My wife makes fun of me for thinking this way, nice to know there are others out there....maybe we need a support group![]()
I understand most of us have points to burn so we can get those for free but the Harbor Freight 1/2” breaker bars are fantastic for the price.New breaker bars with rounded handles. Made in China.

What do you guys think of this thing for 475 minus some coupons and points in cash back? Amazon selling for $1270.
has anyone actually tried returning items at sears that have lifetime guarantees if something goes wrong?
They have an option in the register software to do an exchange for warranty reasons. I haven't done it but overheard it being done for the person in front of me earlier this year. The problem is if they don't have anything comparable in your store anymore, or if the only thing nominally comparable isn't really what you want (missing features yours had). I don't think the lifetime warranty covers returning for a refund, only exchanging.
I had to warranty a Cman hose nozzle this year, actually two. Because they didn't have a Cman equivalent, they told me to pick a Ray Padula one I wanted. They then returned my broken unit for a gift card in the value of the new RP one (glad I picked the nicer one). They then were going to use the GC to purchase the RP, but they allowed me to use points (had some expiring) to pay for the new nozzle. My warranty is now through RP
I did this both at a Hometown & corporate sears.

That sure worked out nicely in that case.![]()

If you want to do this, I suggest you do it asap. The company may not exist anymore in a couple months.
I get a good bit of my online purchases delivered to the local Hometown store. Not sure how accurate the intel is, but the manager of the local store told me as part of the Stanley Craftsman buyout they will warranty pre-buyout tools for the next 20 years?
just brought a CM 1/4" ratchet back and swapped w/o issue at a hometown store yesterday. the sad thing though is that the defective item was brand new--the lever wouldnt move to swap from forward to reverse--got it in a socket set over the summerhas anyone actually tried returning items at sears that have lifetime guarantees if something goes wrong?
Theoretically, but you'll run into the 'no comparable replacement' problem a lot more. The Stanley-owned Craftsman product line so far is not going to have replacements for a lot of things beyond basic screwdrivers/wrenches/sockets... some types of tools that were offered at Sears, the new owners may never want to offer. And I'd expect that other than at Sears, you're pretty unlikely to get a different brand substitution, but I could be wrong.

I can empathize......I took a brand new ratchet right out of the box in for warranty, it was shipped to me with the picking sticker applied all over the ratchet and was delivered locked up:

Some of those Sears stickers have terrrrible adhesive, I've had to really scrub at it with the Goo Gone sometimes. Like multiple rounds of thought I got it all, let it dry and go scrub my fingers that picked up some of the adhesive, nope it's not just my fingers the tool is still sticky, do it again...Sears sending you a broken ratchet was even worse, of course, but hopefully at least you didn't have to clean all that gunk off twice!
Craftsman 4" Bench Vise. Very tempting at $25.47 Any good?

Occasional homeowner use should be fine, but these Chinesium vises will eventually develop stress fractures and fail. Price is amazing, lowest I've seen even for Chinesium.
