I just looked at the ad again and it says Thursday and Friday only @ select Sears stores for that deal.

When I was at my Sears store this evening, they made an announcement that this apparently-less-select store was doing $250 back if you spend $250 in-store... instead of the more-achievable $50 back if you spend $50 in-store.

I've also heard that Kmart is doing $25 back when you spend $25.

Oh, and one more thing, I saw someone buying one of those rolling seats with storage that some of you have been eyeing - during the first 20 minutes of the doorbuster preview event this evening. I didn't see how many they had in stock, but it seems like it's going to be a big seller, so you might want to buy yours sooner rather than later if possible.

Picked one up today in store. The $15 surprise points did apply when I checked out at the register. This thing is a tank. Weighs over 20 lbs, and the seat is supported on all 4 corners. The seat is hinged so you can store items under the seat as well as in the drawers. Pretty good deal even at $45~ oop if you use the $15 freecash. No regrets, took about 10 minutes to put together. It is all one piece out of the box, other than attaching the handle, seat, tool holder, and the 4 casters to the main unit.

I have some cheap U shaped seats that were $20-30... this thing is much more sturdy and much better built than those.

Buuut the unpleasant people on duty at my store this evening refused to price-match the Sears website, one BS excuse after another, first time in probably a year and a half that I haven't gotten a price-match when I asked for it (regardless of whether the website says "online only"), since they had decided they wanted people buying in-store as much as possible. Thank you @Hexen. I appreciate the share and info. I may have a trip coming up and was going to make a visit to a Sears store along the way - I got $15 in-store coupons to use. Really good to know what to expect in store.

I just got back from my store. I was thinking about getting that and the wide-capacity pliers ($30, on sale for an unprecedented $13.69) to use my $15 in-store-only offer. That didn't work out, for reasons I'll explain next, but first I wanted to say that in spite of the universally favorable reviews (the only 1-star review is from some silly person who clearly meant 5-stars) on that digger (short-handled mattock), it didn't look as nice in-person as on the website.

Very visibly uneven castings on the heads (one with about a quarter-inch divot in the thinnest part where it wraps around the shaft), one had stress marks and scrapes on the fiberglass shaft near the head like they had trouble getting it on, and the other ones had scrape marks all up and down the handle. Made in India, which is usually worse than China. (The only tool from India I've been impressed with so far is the micro flush cutters from Harbor Freight, for cutting zip ties.) HF has a similar mattock that is hopefully not as disappointing-looking in person, but it does cost twice as much as this Sears sale price, so I was going to give the Sears one a shot anyway, after picking out the one with the least-uneven-looking head.

For the record, if you have less-unpleasant people running the registers at your local stores, the actual policy on price-matching the website is supposed to be that they can't do it from this Thursday (Thanksgiving) through the following Wednesday. Haha welcome to my life. You so much as mention the website at Chula Sears and they almost call security.

My best luck is going to the Sears in Escondido and asking for an associate while sitting at the computer in the tool area. Showing them how I physically have something in my hand but cannot order it on the website. They 9/10 times relent and price match at the register. Chula nope. Hit the road Jack unless you wanna pay full price.

I've never paid much attention to the Sears Marketplace sellers (third-party sellers on Sears.com that you can't spend SYW points on, but have occasionally had promotions where you can earn points from spending money with certain sellers)... but that was, for years, supposed to be a big part of the slow-motion future 'transformation' of Sears. Apparently Sears recently gave up on that. My local store is closing so can’t get any of these prices there. Liquidators took over so it’s 20% off list price. No matching online prices. Shipping kills most of these deals ...many items don’t qualify for free shipping (over $59).

As I posted about a few days ago, you do have the option of going to the store and using one of their kiosk computers to place the order. That reportedly keeps working up until the final day the store closes its doors, getting you free ship-to-home with no minimum on many items.

Yeah, when I got the Sears 3pc set in August, I think I posted about the great HF breaker bar at the time. HF has a breaker bar longer than any Sears still sells (which I've owned for several years), and the Sears set (both the old set and the new set) includes a breaker bar smaller than any HF sells, so I felt like they complemented each other. Now that Sears has redesigned the breaker bar set, it looks much more similar to the HF bar's style, so I wished I hadn't already bought the old style.

What do you guys think of this thing for 475 minus some coupons and points in cash back? Amazon selling for $1270.

These are the top-of-the-line boxes from International and are built in Canada.

I thought they were great prices and bought both the bottom and top (International #s SRB-4205 and SRT-4204). Shipping was was included, so the total was about $875. Only slightly higher than HF and seem to be very good quality. I like the long wide drawers vs. some others that have more smaller drawers. We'll see if Sears can get them delivered.

They have an option in the register software to do an exchange for warranty reasons. I haven't done it but overheard it being done for the person in front of me earlier this year. The problem is if they don't have anything comparable in your store anymore, or if the only thing nominally comparable isn't really what you want (missing features yours had). I don't think the lifetime warranty covers returning for a refund, only exchanging.

Yeah, I was with my dad once and he brought in a tool that was like 20 years old and looked it. Guy at the register said "We don't carry that, but this is the new version" and gave him the tool and a receipt, then threw the old tool in the trash. Super easy.

I forgot to mention, they said that is how they do it for items they don't have a Craftsman equivalent for replacement. I'm not sure what they do, if they don't even have a 3rd party replacement.

The local hometown store has a box behind the counter full of broken ratchets, wrenches. I do not think I ever warranty anything with them, but I know they can do that.

If you want to do this, I suggest you do it asap. The company may not exist anymore in a couple months.

The Stanley-owned Craftsman product line so far is not going to have replacements for a lot of things beyond basic screwdrivers/wrenches/sockets... some types of tools that were offered at Sears, the new owners may never want to offer. And I'd expect that other than at Sears, you're pretty unlikely to get a different brand substitution, but I could be wrong.

I can empathize......I took a brand new ratchet right out of the box in for warranty, it was shipped to me with the picking sticker applied all over the ratchet and was delivered locked up:

Some of those Sears stickers have terrrrible adhesive, I've had to really scrub at it with the Goo Gone sometimes. Like multiple rounds of thought I got it all, let it dry and go scrub my fingers that picked up some of the adhesive, nope it's not just my fingers the tool is still sticky, do it again... Sears sending you a broken ratchet was even worse, of course, but hopefully at least you didn't have to clean all that gunk off twice!

I was actually, and sadly, happy to find it was locked up so I could just swap it out and not mess with the sticker I usually just soak them in WD40 (or oil of your choice) until they fall off.
