Continuing on getting my pressure cleaning to usable status-
I have a old 4,000 psi rental unit that’s been sitting for a while. Bought a new OEM carb and recoil for it, 1/2 a pull usually gets it started.
Pump seems to be fine, need to put a gauge in it and see what it’s putting out pressure wise.

I bought some new tubes for the tires and while at Northern came across the flat free wheels, $42 each, wasn’t crazy about that kind of money just for wheels.
cd3c85f0f40a807e2031fd8492040c3e.jpg
So got to looking on line, about the same price, except a Ebay listing caught my eye for a slightly different size for $45 shipped for a pair. I confirmed shaft size and thought the hub thickness was ok..

Received new wheels
2cbeb2080c86234fef36acb52881a912.jpg
Nice, even has a grease zirt! ( more on this later). So I go to put them on and hub is thicker, and the axle shaft is too short. No problem, I have a lathe!
So soon as I cut the tack welded loose from shaft under the frame, grind done so they’ll pass through frame rails with the help of a number 5 rawhide hammer, I’m able to chuck it up.
c0ef0910f5fc62b24ce06537f05a8575.jpg
Made the turned down section longer.

Back on the cleaner frame
91852285b96888be2057dc1ef0c858b8.jpg
A couple tack welds and I’m ready for mounting wheels.
I go to grease the hub and the angle part breaks right off.
982dac8323e6ee735f52f6ab85bdb297.jpg
So of course there some unidentifiable thread pitch so I just retapped and inserted some zirks out of my kit.

End result. It rolls real nice. It needs to so my wife can move it around when she cleans the house.

Just a few more adjustments and I’m done.

Just pile it on guys, you overlooked painting the house too! Yep, it's all true, I'm just so bummed out. You have any idea what it's like sitting there drinking a beer n view of her doing these things she won't let me do?

And, she made me go buy her 40 volt cordless weedeaters and chainsaw, twice the voyage of any of my cordless tools, and when I go get one of hers to do something, she comes out to watch and make sure I put it up right away. She wins, I won't play with hers tools!!!!!!!:lol_hitti:lol_hitti:lol_hitti:beer:

Seriously though, I'm a lucky one that she does all that.

I toke a couple of leaps closer to venture into the casting world. I started backwards by saving some Aluminium cases for my someday starting of casting.

I was at a appointment type sale, digging through the remnants of a nice little shop and found the crucible on a shelf, then the lid in the trash pile. This prompted me to ask if they had a forge/furnace. They didn’t know and a trip into the house garage was hiding this furnace!!

The P.O. has a couple mechanisms built onto it, one is a foot operated lift for the lid, the other I’m not sure, looks as if it’s for lifting the center section.

I’ll be reading up and going back through ironfarmers thread to gain some knowledge.

Well guys, here’s a update. I bought some more boxes, there quite a deviation from what I’m known for. I picked two Snap On boxes. Yep, SO, not a Lista or Vidmar.
I’ll post some pics when the power comes back on so I some light.

I got a hell of a deal on them, they even came with s few tools in them.

Here’s an addition to the shop I didn’t know about until I cane across a FB marketplace post in its first 10 minutes.
IMG_0567.jpg
IMG_0568.jpg

I’m not usually into the parts cabinets, but this is pretty different. It’ll replace a basic storage cabinet I have now. I particularly like the bins in the doors and the not so deep shelves. It’ll be perfect for all the little things I got stashed in the one now, open the door and something rolls out.

I’ll mount it to a frame with casters, do a little tweaking to hinges and let it rip.

The seller was great, offered delivery in ad. I happily paid extra as I was stuck at work.

$120 delivered!

Here’s some more new additions to the shop.
We were heading up state for a funeral and I decided to check out what was in the area. So doing a simple search I came across a listing of a guy who was selling his home machine shop.

This sander jumped out at me.

956bd5789ace102b3cbef4bc24d7c7cb.jpg

A Rockwell 31-710 6x48” belt, 12” disc combo sander. I’ve been searching for one of these for a while now.

Shot him a text, asking if he would hold if I sent him PayPal.

So I’m driving, he texted back, had the wife read to me, ask a couple more questions and the deal was done.

I asked the wife to text him asking if he had any vises, no she said, you have enough.....

She did and he had two, sent pictures and I spotted the anvil on a stump in the background.

Asked about that too.

So I ended up sending payment for all four items, with agreeing to pick up in a few days.

Haven’t even unloaded yet.
A import Wilton with a custom handle.I’ll most likely will be flipping this one as I’ve turned into such a US vise only snob.
adb9e4b66d76078c9a7c66d2cfee0fee.jpg
A ummarked 4” mill vise, pretty sturdy.
4aa13ee0512b5a1d1da5daf81bbd84bb.jpg

Still need to ID the anvil, only figured out its a 102lbs.

The seller was very easy to deal with and kept his word, something that’s getting rare these days.

Nice score. Glad priorities were in order.
Wish I’d known you were looking for a sander like that. I have one I’d sold you for $75. Oh well, I’ll keep it.

I love the sander, I have an upright belt sander, it works well, but I really would like one like yours, the disc is nice too.

Well when it rains it’s pours down here at Cbacres.
I picked up the Rockwell sander earlier this week, 3-1/2 hr drive each way, but I broke up the return leg stopping by Craptains to rid the world of some beer.

So I’m doing my weekly scan of CL yard sales when I spot this.
b80b1361386209c8c69f6f0bbc8ba0d9.jpg

It figures, not even two days after my road trip, one shows up in my back yard.

I email asking about it, he replies with a price and I ask if I can pick it up the next day.

Sure.

So this morning on the way to a work meeting I pick it up.

88f8181c0396266795d83ea047cbc3c4.jpg
38251e7cf78df665873ee0723f66e0ec.jpg

It’s a Delta Rockwell 31-730, it has a 1-1/2HP Baldor motor. Guys in shop said they never used due to it being 220 volt, so taking a little chance motor not operational, but I doubt it.

I spent more on gas on the one picked up earlier this week than the $50 I spent on this one.

It may of solved the issue of deciding what grit to keep on sander, now I’ll have one for wood, one for metal.

First off, great scores on the belt/disc sanders. Yes, you ****.

Secondly, I just finished reading the entire thread. I now know more about Shorty and Taumac than I ever thought should be known. :yikes:

You have more stuff in that shop than I would ever know what to do with.

Nice job in the shed annex.

Looking forward to following along now.

Thanks for stopping by. Hopefully the Shorty and Gerard part didn't scare you too much.

There's a lot in there for sure.

I just stated that I'm not going to ho so much and just sort out what I have.:lol_hitti

That is a pretty scary thought Dan, be thankful you live halfway across the country from them. They're pretty much in my back yard and cause me sleepless nights at times.

And those scroundrels are probably hiding in the trees waiting to write stuff n your new concrete.:lol_hitti

Well I decided to finish a 4 year old project.[emoji15] For whatever reason, I never finished install all the brackets on my gutter from the metal roof project on the shop. After a couple of brackets in, I remembered why.

The gutter is attached to the roof deck before the panels go on, so the flange needs to be the same pitch as the roof. I think this was off in the metal and causing the supports to bend. Least that’s my excuse!

He’s a shoot of the bent brackets. The bracket in foreground is a new one I put on today.
9aeda7ec3c7b44c2bd94797275334dbc.jpg

So I built a couple out of 1-1/2” aluminum angle to take the strain off.
f32ffb2bc67fde41cc25f5142fe9ac9f.jpg
I used a1/4” SS bolt and through bolted onto the gutter, I was concerned there was too much stress to trust a sheet metal screw to hold.
867785bc99353edc3b59304562df15f3.jpg

Here it is all done up.
877e20eafa31f623a7b73e715f6a2224.jpg

This section here would just bend so far and spill over with a heavy rain, I think over time it put a pretty good sway in a section of gutter.

So I just need to add the downspout and connect to the underground pipe I put in last year.

Now maybe I’ll finish the downspout on the wife’s barn from 05.

Looks good, bet it feels good to check it off the list. Sometimes after doing some me of those projects I wonder why I didn’t do it way back when.
