Actually, I wonder if Eddie settled up with these vendors by agreeing not to sell the existing warehoused products they already had on hand through Sears/Kmart/SYW. He did reach agreements with some vendors at the time of the purchase agreement but the terms were never really disclosed. They could have sold remaining inventory to Northern Tool but I’m not sure about that tool box.

I'll try to stop by my NT this weekend and look around. If they have the Craftsman stuff out on the shelves already, some of them might have production dates on the packages. (I've gotten some stuff from Sears that has what I think is the week-number followed by the two-digit year, on the back of the package.)

PS: I just counted up all the store locations on Northern Tool's website (no current total was available, just "over 100")... they are a lot smaller than Harbor Freight (which has over 1000), but they now have more locations than there are not-closing-yet corporate Sears stores! 124 for NT, 120 for Sears (was 122 till the 2 stealth closures that came out this week).

Yeah, I've only got a few months left now (and only 1-2 weeks of ship-to-store), unless free home shipping with low OOP continues for non-VIPs.

I had been keeping notes of what I'd bought the last couple years in a basic list, now I'm in the process of finally putting everything (including the earlier purchases) into a spreadsheet so I can figure out a grand total when this comes to an end for me. It's a hassle because the order history pages are so screwy.

I had a spreadsheet a while back but gave it up. Between my wife and my account, would be nice to know how much we saved, but I know we saved a lot.

I mostly paid using points, except my tool box and very few things that I use OOP because I did not have enough points at time of purchase. On the other side, I have sold a few things on CL so at the end, it probably came about even. I bought three small CF boxes that I flipped on CL and iirc the proceed is about even to pay for my 56in top box. I still have a few things that I need to put on CL.

From fixing my cars, the various socket size, extensions, wrenches, screwdrivers, impact drivers, and other tools, I have saved a lot of time and have made a lot of things easier for me.

My household tools (drill, drill bits, hammer, measuring tape, squares, hand saw, etc) are paid from points. In fact I am currently fixing/remodeling my yard using a mattock, three different shovel for three of us who are working, rakes, gloves, hand gardening tools, etc all from Sears.

My fav tools are probably the 15 Knipex pliers in different size and shape, including plier wrench, cobra, alligator, cutter.

When Kmart was still open locally, I had bought a lot of non-tools: clothes for my kid (socks, underwear, tshirts, blankets, towels, hat, gloves), toys, paper towels, tissues, lawn chairs etc which really helps our budget. Overall, I probably spent more on household items than tools. Even when I am on vacation, if we pass a Sears or Kmart, I would order ahead of time to pick-up some household items. Wife is not too happy if I only making stops for tools haha

Lately, it was truly getting harder to find anything that I do not already have or need. All of these would all add up easily in thousands $ if paid with OOP. Kinda sad to see this all come to an end, but also somewhat happy I am not spending time playing SYW games again.

Also, big thank you for everyone's post. I read a lot of post in GJ, but believe I learn the most from this thread. Really appreciate everyone is sharing the knowledge, what tools are a good buy at certain price, what are useful and worth buying.

The amount I’ve gotten since SYW was invented is absolutely insane. I don’t really resell things though. My garage looks like I robbed Sears. Nearly everything I own is from there. If it was available at Sears that’s probably where it came from. Thankfully much of the stuff I got will be enough to last a lifetime because things will likely never be as cheap again.

Yes my garage is full too lmao I would have more tools if I did not spend my points on household items (see above).

If any of you don't own these already, this is a good price. I was surprised to see them still available - ship-to-home and ship-to-store.

This particular model is future-proof for a future without Sears, because unlike their other similar utility cutters with proprietary blades, this one uses standard utility knife blades. The plastic 'anvil'/'jaw' that it cuts onto can be replaced with a 3D-printable part (free download from Thingiverse) when it wears out, if you have access to a 3D printer at a local library or similar.

$15.99 sale (Hot Buy), $26.99 regularly

When I bought them a year and a half ago, it was $16.99 sale, $21.99 regularly.

Not a huge discount, but this is something I don't see on sale often (I got it at full price of $8.99 a year ago, and this is one of the few items that hasn't jacked up the price since then). Like the item in my previous post, I was surprised it's still available. One of the few things in Sears that is still made in the USA. Much larger field of view than a typical extending inspection mirror.

I could not find a way to enter the new card for one time transaction, and not sure how to remove it after I completed the transaction.

A card cannot be removed once entered. You may be able to hide your visibility of the card, but the information remains in the system forever, there is no way to remove it.

The texting coupon started working a day early! Unfortunately my prediction of it being in-store-only was correct. I even tested using it online to make sure, and got "We're sorry, this coupon is only eligible in our stores and not online."

[11/4:] Sears and Kmart Black Friday ads have been posted.
...
But the big deal is, from Nov 24 through Dec 1 ... you will be able to "Text THANKS 73277 to receive a $10 Coupon to redeem on a qualifying purchase of $10 or more at Sears stores." I expect that, like the last several times they've done similar coupons, this will be restricted to one usage per SYW account (and requiring use of your account to redeem it), and probably for in-store use only.

Here are the full terms:

" A GIFT FOR YOU! $10 off on your next instore purchase.
Associate instructions:
1) SYW membership Required.
2) Limit one per member, per household.
3) No photocopies, screenshots, printouts allowed.
Terms & Conditions
Member offers: Offer valid instore only. Use of this coupon constitutes your acceptance of the SYW terms and conditions available at www.shopyourway.com/terms; All offers: Not valid on Every Day Great Price, Hot Buys, Special Purchases, Introductory Offers, Insane Deals, clearance, closeouts, gift cards, catalog orders & protection agreements, items not sold by Kmart [doh, they meant to say Sears]. Limit one coupon per person. Redemption limited to one time use of either digital or in-store printed version. Void if transferred, copied or obtained via unapproved means. Cash value 1/20 cent. Coupon savings may be deducted from refund. Cannot be used with other discounts. Offer valid instore only till 12/1/19 "

Update: Now confirmed by someone on SD to already be usable in-store 11/23, even in soon-to-be-liquidated stores: "Worked for me today in store that is scheduled to close next feb, liquidate after Thanksgiving."

Regarding that garage door opener deal...

I think I just figured what the deal is with the garage door openers. It’s a method of fishing for leads from people that choose to have it installed. That explains all the home services positions they're trying to hire around here.

The other day I to chat with them because I kept getting emails about an order they supposedly cancelled and they were offering estimates on such things.

Lots of foot traffic in my Sears today. They've posted Everything must go signs, but it seems like the tools are actually more expensive.

Most everything is marked with standard retail prices and a 10% or 30% off sign above it.

Yep, mine started that on Wednesday. The prices definitely went up on tools that had been on sale, because now they are all only 10% off, but stuff that hadn't been part of the blowout/other sales comes out ahead. At least at my store, this is not actual liquidation yet even though it looks like it; they are still available for online ordering until some time after Thanksgiving weekend, and still willing to price-match the better website prices until Thanksgiving (there is a standard price-match blackout period from Thanksgiving through the Wednesday after Thanksgiving).

30% off is only on some non-tool stuff. It will take until near the end of the liquidation period before they go to 30% off on tools, and probably no lower than that, from what I recall when my second-closest store closed earlier this year.

Yeah, they've been hungry for install/service business for a while. At least half of the times I've used chat in the past year or two, they conclude with the blurb about asking if I need any of that stuff done.

Several people on SD said they took the Sears install offer on the GDO. I think it was running $125-$150 for the installation fee.

Prices have gone down on some stuff again - appears to be non-blowout sale items. The $9.99 Craftsman ornaments that were at $6.99 a couple weeks ago and $5.99 last week, are now at $4.99. Going to try for a second round of price adjustments on the two I was able to buy through the website a couple weeks ago, later today. (Update: Got it!)

Just got a text saying Sears is doing a 'Black Friday doorbusters early access' thing today. All day online, and 4-9pm local-time in-store (staying open 3 hours later than they usually do on Sundays).

Update: LOL, the online "Deals" link where you're supposed to be able to browse the doorbusters is broken. Never seen them completely break the deal center before.

" Yikes!
We're sorry, but that page is no longer available.
Here's why:
The page may no longer exist.
Your session may have timed out.
The specific product may no longer be available and has been removed.
We're here to help you find just what you need. "

The Sears BF deals are a big MEH. Some prices are not even matching what is advertised in the BF ad.

Deal center link still goes to Yikes for me. :headscrat

Thanks for sharing the LED light deal. I still haven't gotten one of those yet (there's been posts about them several times in the past), and I'm hopefully about to spend more than $5 OOP on something else, so it seems like it makes sense to get the light almost-free too (only come out behind by the amount of sales tax).

It is THANKS without the period after it, FWIW. (Doesn't have to be in all-caps, lower-case is fine, though.) Worked fine for me yesterday, maybe they're just overloaded today, IIRC one of their previous text deals had problems like that at first. I'd say try again Monday mid-morning after the people in HQ have had time to hopefully fix whatever's wrong.

Just to double-check: Have you successfully done Sears texting deals before with your cell phone service? It has to be a real carrier, not Google Voice and not an extra number from a texting app.

Success! I bought 3 of those blue lights online this evening OOP for Christmas gifts, picked them up a few minutes later, and got the $14.97 back in points a few minutes after that. With those points, plus the points I'd gotten the past couple weeks, plus the $10 off $10 coupon, plus the automatic 10% off all tools at my store in pre-liquidation mode (they actually ring up at the lower price, no coupon conflict like the F&F sales had in-store), I bought the last 10" Knipex Pliers Wrench in my store for less than $3 OOP.

PS: The cashier was curious about the $10 coupon, so I showed him how to send in the text, and he received a working coupon link immediately. This was around 8:30pm CT 11/24.

PPS: They actually have "mechanic's tools" at a higher percent off than the rest of the tools, 30% vs 10%, which I hadn't noticed when I was in there last week. This does not include open-stock sockets, those are specifically signed as 10%.

Question about multiple Cash Back offers.

If I spend $100 today, I get 4 x $25 cash back offers for different days.

If I spend $85, I instantly get $15 off with a clipped coupon.

So, if I spend $115, do I get the $15 off AND the 4 x $25 cash back, or only one of those offers?

Thanks

Yes, as long as your total after all coupons and points usage, but before sales tax and any shipping fees, is still over $100. :) Several people on SD were using a $15 or $25 coupon on the $150 garage door opener and still got the cashback.

This is a little off-topic.

I picked up a used Craftsman tool top chest:

https://www.sears.com/craftsman-26-in-6-drawer-heavy-duty-ball/p-00937711000P

Two drawers are missing the black plastic clips that keep the drawers from sliding all the way out off the track, ie the black clip that connects the two chrome sliding parts, one attached to the drawer, the other to the base, as shown in the attached photo.

Where can I get these? Part numbers?

Is there an interim solution, eg Zip Ties, to keep the drawer from rolling off the track?

The bottom rolling cart is missing the handle:

https://www.sears.com/craftsman-26-...SellerId=Sears&prdNo=4&blockNo=4&blockType=G4

p-009CO81081612B

Where do I find the handle? Part number?

Thanks

If you expand the full description on the product page, they have a link to a PDF with parts diagrams. I don't see the drawer clips listed separately, if I'm reading it right; you might have to order a whole slide assembly - if Sears can even still get them anymore. The side handle for the bottom box is listed.

I'm wondering if an alternative to getting replacement clips would be spreading around the clips you do have, so each drawer at least has the clip on one side.

Hexen, thanks.

Two drawers are missing one clip each and the drawers still derail.

To prevent the drawer from derailing, I thought about drilling holes in the drawer, then routing a Zip Tie around the drawer and the edge of the slider attached to the cabinet.

I found the parts diagram for the "slide assembly." No one sells it on Ebay.

However, there's no parts diagram for the rolling chest, for which I need the handle.

I'm happy with making a DIY wood handle, but I don't know how to route a nut and washer inside the cabinet to attach a screw. Any ideas?

Oh, I see, I had thought those drawers were missing both. Unfortunate that 1 per drawer isn't enough. I don't know if that ziptie workaround would be successful or not. If I were in your situation, I think I'd first try bringing one of the clips to my library with the 3D printing setup (they have a 3D scanner too) and see if I could make a functional copy of it. But the zipties would be a lot simpler/easier if it works. :)

There IS a parts diagram for it. You had the link to a 'bundle' page in your original post where you were talking about the bottom box, instead of directly to the bottom box's page. I put the direct link in my quote of your post. Try going there and expanding the description.

And for either part, I would try calling the phone number on those PDFs (on Monday) to request the parts directly from Sears first, before resorting to Ebay only if Sears confirms they can't get them anymore.

There is a guy on this forum that makes after market clips at a very reasonable price. :)

A lot of the clips waterloo doesnt carry anymore so this guy started making them as close to stock as you will find.

OK. Any more info on finding that guy? I'm still not managing to come up with the right search.

So with Lowe's carrying craftsman, has anyone try to warranty CF item (bought at Sears) at Lowe's?

I have this digging fork that I broke over the weekend.
https://www.sears.com/craftsman-4-tine-d-handle-digging-fork/p-07183517000P

Lowes has similar (different length, and it has hardwood handle vs fiberglass)
https://www.lowes.com/pd/CRAFTSMAN-...0zHfge6Q1rdDDwFtlnBoC62AQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Any thoughts if I should try to warranty it at Lowe's? Nearest hometown store is ~40 min away, so not worth ~2hr for this.
