We stopped at a garage sale that a friend told us about that wasn't advertised much, and found lots of nice clean household stuff, and a few tools. I got an old Union combination square, a pair of Peterson Vise Grips, a Saturn spotting scope with tripod and caps, and a Lyman 310 reloading set for .270 Winchester and C-H reloading dies for 7mm Mauser (7x57). $11.25 for it all. I missed a really nice heavy workbench with 2 vises that looked like it had never been worked on that went for $40. Looked like something from a fancy woodworking tool catalog. At least I found a few useful things.

This almost got away from me. Showed up stupid early (3hrs) to an estate sale today (nothing else better to do), was 4th in line, and passed up some other stuff while searching this out. Turns out there was a secondary nook behind a wall with the shelf it was on. Found it, and breathed a huge sigh of relief. This estate company is known for pretty reasonable pricing, and doesnt really know tools, so lots of stuff goes cheap if you are willing to poke around.

2.5" jaws, 5-53 on the keyway. Price paid is attached to the handle in the pic.IMG_20200728_103305_01.jpg

Thats badass Ive not see a wilton that small... not trying to get into a **** measuring contest here but I bought a 4" bullet vise from a guy for 10 bucks.. also got a 17" 16 speed free standing drill press for 35.00. Got home and within 30 minutes had sold that vise for 170.00... that was a good garage sale day

Fresh from the barn! $35 all in. Can you spot the one that's worth more than the box?IMG_20200730_202856178.jpgIMG_20200730_202905495.jpgIMG_20200730_204000465.jpegIMG_20200730_204005308.jpeg

I hit up four sales yesterday, three were good and nothing that caught my eye at the fourth.

A mostly full box of cleaning patches, Jorgensen F clamp, a Cornwell deep socket, 3 Proto La draglink sockets, P&C feeler gauge, Husky and pre-long c Craftsman sockets, some sort of Proto specialty tool (2357), Proto LA pliers, SK diamond extension, Plomb extension, Body hammer, Craftsman ratchets (1/4 and 3/8) some of those odd vise grips, Duro breaker bar, SK extension and P&C 3/8 combo. $12 all together.

But it took me a while to figure out the maker of the body hammer. Finely found the makers mark on the edge of the square face:

Good score! Those "odd" vise grips are good for holding round things with minimal damage, as well as holding nuts without slipping. Pretty size-critical in some applications. I bought a set of three many years ago, and have used them quite often.

I'd have grabbed the body hammer just because of the handle, too.

BTW, You ****!

Nice assortment. Any part number of the Plomb body hammer? I am not super up on these but I haven't seen one stamped there before. I wonder if it could be an early H series hammer. Maybe post on the Plomb board so X or Ragz could help?

Good idea Roy, but no, I didn't see a part number. But it can't be too early, as the O is the V shape. I will get some pics up of it.

And Provincial, that is exactly the reason I grabbed it!

GREAT Score BMW!

I also give a thumbs up on the nut and bolt vise grips. I bought a medium pair new as I had an issue while AT the hardware store and so decided "why not" and have since added the other sizes from yard sales.

Love those Plvmb Body hammers with original handles!

I got nothing today and have to go out of town tomorrow AM, and not much here anyway... I am chasing one thing on CL, but the guy is NOT responding...

Small haul (Lugz 2020_27) from the flea market this morning included a wartime LaFrance FIRE-GUN No. 0 fire extinguisher, a little magnifying glass with a pocket clip, and a Delta (first seen for me...) farmer's file.

After getting barely anything this year finally got something worth posting about. Neighbor posted on the neighborhood facebook that they had tools that needed to be cleared out of their garage. A lot of power tools and general contractor stuff. I'm pretty set on power tools but I did grab these little gems though.

Ryobi portable planer
5 USA vise grip clamps
3 ratcheting Snap on screwdrivers
2 flashlights (Milwaukee and Streamlight Stinger LED)

Not pictured but a I got a nice pair of barely used sunglasses with interchangeable lenses.

Pretty good little pick up for a quick Facebook posting.

Lest I forget the most important find. This was also in one of the bags.

Wow. Nice haul! You found one of the mysterious Duco 9/32” spinners and the even more mysterious Red Handle 9/32” spinner. Nice WF-1 adapter.

Nice haul tin medic! I passed over a few of those things but must not have been digging in the right spot for others. The drill index I had in my hand but set it down when I saw something else--then got further distracted and forgot about it. Glad you got it!

Don, the red handle spinner is marked Cal-Air. Some of the sockets are also marked Cal-Air and they were definitely made by Plomb so maybe the spinner was to.

At Friday’s garage sale I picked up a plastic shoebox full of Snap-on sockets! 3/8dr metric short & deep, SAE deep 12pt & a few extra 6pt sockets to fill out a set I’ve been working on completing. Also a couple of Williams long hex sockets, Snap-on hex socket set, Snap-on 3/8dr long handle ratchet and a thumb wheel, and some Craftsman metric sockets 1/2dr reg and 3/8dr deep.

Then Saturday morning I picked up these two Milwaukee tool sets! A good weekend!

So I made it back from out of town, which was something of an accomplishment.... I really HATE the garbage they put up for highway signage these days. You write down both highway number and the street name (cause lets not have just ONE way to ID a street) AND I knew what town was next/heading for, and they used none of the above... :dunno:

Anyway out of 2 TOOs and 4 planned sales, only one had ANYTHING. The last one.

Everyone was masked everywhere, and one estate sale was taking forehead temps as well... (the lady in front of me refused to let them, and was denied entrance - she kept asking them to use in somewhere else...:wtf:

anyway for $10 I got:

Two small oil cans, a spare fuel can made in West Germany, and a small "Just Right" safety can with Patents pending, so I'm assuming its an early production model?

attachment.php

And A bunch of Brass/bronze parts - even the hasp is bronze! the oarlock pockets are cool.

attachment.php

And lastly an old cigar bot full of fasteners mostly - lots of brass which was excuse enough, but I'm hoping a couple of 12-24 Truss head screws I need may be in there. the box is old enough that it is all wood, and someone added wood dividers, so cool in its own right - I'll see if Greaze-off can cut the gunk, without ruining the art...
