Nice. I have three in my shop, two standard that mount to the bench, and a magnifier on a weighted base over my lathe. Love the things, and have probably half a dozen more tucked away, as I will pick them up when ever I find them cheap enough.

Hey guys! New here, could somebody explain a bit the mechanical mechanism of the lamp? I want to disassemble one myself but still looking for an affordable option...

Speculating, I would think that there are two beams (on the lower arm). One to hold the cable and one to hold the springs. Could someone elaborate?

Hello again,

and an old classic Ernst Rademacher 163007 lamp
(Germany, Rademacher founded 1914 for industrial lamps, more robust and expensive as for home use, old hot incandescent bulbs up to 100 W, build in this style with dust covered switch above since 1967 - before '67 there was another style with front switch in grey or in the 50s in black, this one is later from the 80's without grey enamel on the lampshade)
2021-12-11-Rademacher-163007.jpg

and also typical soled as HAZET 161-5 for tool carts since 1954 (in this style since 1967):
(nowadays maybe convertible to battery and LED  one of my winter projects...)

And hello again,

and another old classic Ernst Rademacher 12-304 lamp find its way to my collection
also sold by as Hazet 1615 for Hazet Assistent tool carts since 1954.
With a switch over the lampshade to the front (instead of later from 1967 upwards) in black as in the Hazet catalogs 1954 to before 1963 (in the 1963 catalog it is in grey, e.g. back of catalogue). It needs some work, better a new cable and a new rubber cap to protect the switch from dust and humidity... It is enameled, not painted - to be able to use the old hot 100W light bulbs.

1954 Hazet catalog page 32: first Assistent 160 tool cart with attachable stool 1610 and this kind of lamp 1615
(I'm working on the same combination - hope to have this 160 tool cart ready in spring...)

It’s a nice and bright update to my little work space.
Nice. @Outlawmws is always preaching LED conversion. That's a helluva sales pitch right there.
My son brought this home from his uncle’s place, it’s possibly some kind of ship light but I haven’t taken the time to research it yet. Maybe a movie grip light.
I missed this first time around. Did you ever find out more about it? Btw, love the time machine look of your shop.

I just found this on EBay;

Not sure if that base is original to the light or not. Described as a work light. But that guard is a nice look. I have a spot welder that can weld wire together like that so I might give making that guard a shot. I would like to pickup a wire bending machine sometime to make it much easier to do.

Time Machine look is a nice description.

Nice lights! Good for know the T8's are available LED! I checked, adn the T9 ring lights are also now!
HD has one like this from Feit. The GE Color Select, “exclusive” from Lowes, is nice, since there is a switch where you can select from three different color temperature options.

I just looked up current prices for modern Dazor LED floating arm industrial lights. $400!!

My take: Vintage Dazor is the Wilton (vises) of industrial desk lamps. I’m so glad I was able to clean mine up and easily upgrade to LED tubes. Reference post #297 above.

Finding a vintage Dazor and restoring/upgrading is worthwhile and similar to finding an old Wilton vise and cost effectively restoring to full/better functionality.

Here's a first for me found at a recent swap meet. A Hughey & Phillips beacon light. The kind you see on radio towers to warn aircraft. I thought it would make a nice yard decoration, probably in a lighthouse type tower I would build on an old pump house foundation. For now it's found a safe place riding the top of a swivel pole crane in the shop. I just have three low watt bulbs in in for now. It came with colored bulbs so I just left them in. I May convert to LED if it goes outside. A few pics of the beacon light on the bench and in it's current home resting atop the swivel pole crane. Ed.

Thanks Lugz and Outlaw. The ribbed glass helps focus the light beam up more than what escapes horizontally or down. Makes perfect sense for a tower beacon but for my use I wish the glass was ribbed more like a lighthouse beacon sending more focused light horizontally. Still, even with very low watt incandescent bulbs, it does light up well enough for display.

Reviving this thread to add a recent addition to the tribe. A Dazor floor magnifier, Model 1410AR. Bought at a sale for $5, no real use for it but couldn't resist.

You must be young ;) I have a few magnifying lamps and use them all the time. "Oh, that's what I'm trying to do!" Eyesight is funny. Sometimes you don't realize what you're not seeing. Having light on the subject makes a big difference too, of course; so these lamps are a double-bonus. Here's the wall mount version of that Dazor that I paid $8 for. I don't think it had ever been installed.

Here's another Dazor and a little articulating florescent lamp under the shelf.

I like this one because it's small and doesn't get in the way; plus, it has an aluminum inner liner that keeps it from getting hot. The hole in the Subaru rotor is a nice friction fit for the base pin and I added little felt pads to the bottom so it slides smoothly on the bench.

I'm always on the lookout for more lighting, even though I'm having trouble finding a place for all of the 'extra' lamp stuff. Here's a shot of the boneyard.

I posted this in the 'lighting' section but its appropriate here as well, I had to replace my Halogen lights and went with 500w LED, they were 12" in diameter and I had some of the old warehouse light housings around and I thought I'd make an adapter plate:

I have to get some more housings and do the rest of the shop.
Here's a nice harvest of vintage lights (early/mid century) from the steel mill, (similar to ojh's beautifully displayed lights). These shades are being discarded by the hundreds. More commonly known as barn lights, these porcelain-enameled steel shades are reflective white inside and green outside. They are an easy re-socket/re-wire. How cool to light up your vintage shop? You gotta love porcelain!

This is a really nice collection. Are you going to hang them? Does anyone here have a shop using of these old green barn lights? I am looking for inspiration.
