I had an electrician wire my garage and I was sheeting it today when a friend pointed out something to me. I am running 2-220 outlets on 30 amp breakers. I bought all the wire... At homedepot I asked them for 220 - 30 wire and this is what they gave me. It has 2 thick 110's ? and a ground...

No living space above... Just open trusses right now. I was thinking Vapor barrier the sheeting and blowing in insulation after...

I'm just about finished putting in all the insulation in my new 28x30 garage. It's going to be sheeted with OSB. Do I need to put vapor barrier on the ceiling before sheeting it? Any tips for a first timer? I have the vapor barrier boxes around all me electrical already.

True! Ok so something like this 3 - 220 circuits 5 - single outlet circuits 4 - multi outlet circuits. (Maybe 4 on each?) 1 - circuit for 2 garage door openers. (Or should they be independent?) 2 - for lighting 1 - for exterior lights and outlet 1 - to the furnace That's only 20.... I'm sure...

It's a 30x30 garage. Yeah maybe 20 dedicated is a bit over kill. There's going to be 2 - 220 outlets. One for a welder and one for a compressor. Then a few 110's dedicated for power equipment that wont ever move like Drill press, Bench grinder, ban saw...also later probably a mill and lathe...

I'm just about ready to start drilling holes and wiring up my new garage. I've never done any new structure wiring before. I'm going to be sheeting with osb so I can hang stuff randomly on the walls. What is the safest way to run all the wires? Should I drill near the tops of the studs and just...

I'm trying to figure out lighting among other things and have seen a few peoples post on here with a full layout of there garage... I'm looking for something simple and free :wtf: Something that can show benches, storage ,cars and stuff.... Thanks in advance! :thumbup:

Hmm.. Home depot currently has both the 50 and 80 at the same price... Is bigger better?

R-14 / 2x4 construction, 8 foot high ceiling, 2- 9 foot wide insulated garage doors, 1 man door insulated and 2 -30 inch windows.

I'm looking at Mr.Heater Big Maxx natural gas heaters... 50,000 btu's vs. 80,000 My new garage is 28x30 so 840 square feet... The 50,000 is supposed to be good for up to 700 square feet but ive had a couple guys tell me it will be good enough... Do I need the extra 30,000 btu's?

More imput please...Anyone?:confused:
