    72'x60'x16' "Shouse"

Thanks for the response. I get what you did. I was seeing the 1/4 plywood strips as the 2x4's in the picture. So the 2x4's are behind the insulation and the 1/4 strips are just screwed to those through the 1/4 ply, through the insulation and it gives it a "little" pinch, just enough pinch to...

    72'x60'x16' "Shouse"

Thanks for the response. I'm not sure I followed this description. Do you have a picture or sketch of how you did this? I'm thinking the 2x4 sandwich the insulation, but I guess I'm not sure what you are doing with the 1/4 plywood? ... or maybe I got it all wrong? Also, second question...

Thank you that picture is perfect. I get it. You just sandwiched the insulation between two boards to hold it up. That looks like a good fast way to cover a lot of wall fast. I'm going to see if I can find some wider batts and go that route. If that doesn't work, I found some folks doing...

LOL. I'm not sure I entirely followed all that, but I was thinking "not enjoyable" as I read it which made me laugh when I read your last sentence!!! I didn't know they made the wide rolls, are those custom order through an insulation business or do the big box stores carry those too? I'm 8'...

The Doghouse, 30 X 56 pole barn in NW IL

Looks like you are doing a great job! I've got 60x68x16 to cover, that's a lot of 2x6's! So are you done with the interior walls (insulated and covered)? I'd like to see some pictures of how that all went together if you got 'em. Thanks for the quick response!

Wow, super nice shop. What kind of insulation arrangement did you use in your walls? I don't see any extra framing where you hung those batts? ... and is that super large batting, or what is that stuff? I'm getting to that stage for my shop, so I'm idea shopping! Thanks in advance of any...

    72'x60'x16' "Shouse"

How did you do your batt insulation installation in the open shop area? Did you put some framing in there every 24" or so? ... or just **** the batts up to each other without extra framing, vapor barrier and then tin over top? I'm about to start insulating my shed, so I'm curious. I have a...

The Doghouse, 30 X 56 pole barn in NW IL

It appears you framed in some horizontal 2x6's between the posts. Are you planning to then put 24" insulation batting laid sideways in there? ... vapor barrier and then tin the inside? I was thinking of doing the same thing, but was going to put the framing (internal purlins) much further...

    115 Interior Shop Finish

With a red bottom and black separation line, your eye will be drawn to the darker colors, and the white will fade away in the background. Go with a dark blue line and you can claim a patriotic theme! Go with a black pin stripe between each color transition, and you get a touch of class too.

L shaped shop -- need heating suggestions

I'm located in Iowa, South of Hwy20, so Zone 5. I thought I'd favor the shop side for sure. I'll try to setup my mount so I can experiment. The tube heaters I think are more expensive than the Reznor fan type? Plus, I'm going to have RV's in there randomly, so not sure what the clearance...

    115 Interior Shop Finish

Good points. Mine the exterior is tin, so I'm not giving the interior much thought either and just going with white tin. Plan to cover the walls with good signage eventually anyway. ;) Keep up the nice work!

NorthCentral Door Company Garage Doors ... anyone!?

Really happy with this product and installation by Ollinger Doors from Atkins, IA if anyone in the area is interested. Heavy duty 3" roller hardware and the door look heavy and sturdy.

Hanging tin help -- interior finishing

I'm prepping to start hanging tin in my new garage, 60x68x16. It is a pole barn style building. I have a few questions: 1) The trusses are every 4' apart. I was planning to hang 16'x3' tin directly to the bottom of the trusses for the ceiling. I figured this would be doable by myself with...

L shaped shop -- need heating suggestions

I just built a shop/storage garage, 60 x 68 x 16. On the 60' side I have three doors all 14' in height. They are 18', 12' and 18'. The second and third are rental units, one being 13x44, the second being 22x44. The rest of the building is for me. Behind my 18' door, will be 24'x44' of...
