Jobs that snowball into a disaster...

This is why I haven't done side jobs for 4+ years. It's not worth my time to deal with the things that pop up. It does not matter what it pays if it take me away from my wife and the projects i have. I will still help friends out at their place knowing I can come and go as I please.

    My tool cart

I used knockouts to make the holes. It is made from 16ga. CR. I will use it to hold 3 of my pry bars and 3 hammers.

    My tool cart

I thought Id share some pictures of a cart I built. It was built with what I feel a cart should have for the work I do at home, it does not need to lock have a cover or sliding top which is useless to me. I sold my other cart due to lack of space a few years ago and now need something to...

Latest fab. project - downhill racer

Looking good Jeff. Do you race with some sort of oraganization? Having raced soapbox cars I would like to share a few things. Those wheels will flex a lot. If you run pinch brakes they may even lock up in a hard turn. You probably have thought of this but triangulating the front and rear axle...

Coming to terms and budgetary figures on garage build

My wife and I bought our house almost two years ago and I have redone almost everything to the interior and exterior of the house. It is a small house and we love the neighborhood. We currently have a single car garage with tools and motorcycles. We also have two 10' x 12' sheds, one of them is...

    tapered PIPE tap

If it is more than 1 thread in I would probably leave it depending on how crooked it is. You may be able to countersink the hole a bit to get rid of what you started, but being a course thread like that it is probably in pretty good for it to be crooked.

    tapered PIPE tap

A pipe (NPT) tap will be harder than a straight tap. A course thread tap will be "harder" to tap than a fine thread because you are removing less material with a fine thread. If you are going to tap a hole for a 1/4-28 bolt you would use a No, 3 drill bit which is .2130 where a 1/4-20 would be...

Building a new house...how can I get the best money back from Credit card?

We remodeled our kitchen using a Home Depot card. I think it was 5% off and no interest for 12 months, we only used it one time because they had some other offer going for your first time using the card. We also use our Capitol One for everything we can for the points. To me, it's dumb not to...

Around here there are shops that specifically repair machinery. They have all types of used parts. maybe there is one near you. Try asking a machine shop or tool guy.
