Has anyone used a Firepower Tig Welder?

Napa is carrying them and they are a division of Victor/Esab. The specs for the ac/dc look really nice for the price. Has anyone actually used one yet?

    Malco Seamer latch repair

I have been wanting an offset seamer for metal bending, but didn't want to spend $50, so I hit ebay. I found this one listed as "unknown make but looks like a Malco. it has a bit of patina, but all that was wrong was the missing latch. A bit of time with a cut-off wheel and the grinder and it's...

New to me torch cart upgraded with holder

I have used the homemade cart that my torch was on when I bought it for almost 15 years. It had plastic wheels on a piece of all thread. I finally found a good torch cart on a sale and love the new wheels and balance, but missed my torch cradle. It's a piece of 1-1/4" thin wall with a notch and...

Is too much air pressure bad for tools?

I picked up a John Deere engine driven air compressor. It's 17.5 cfm and cut out is at 160psi. I replumbed the outlet with a 1/2" tee to a Milton "F" for my big impacts (3/4" and 1") and air jacks. I left the regulator with a regular Milton "M". The previous owner had a 50' 3/8" hose reel on it...

Suggestions on ovehauling OTC Bucket Jacks

I purchased a set of used 10 ton bucket jacks for the farm shop. They need a new diaphragm and the inside of the chamber is a bit rough from rust and debris buildup. I'm guessing they had wet air feeding them. What is the best way to smooth the walls before installing the new diaphragms. They...

What happens when Snap-On drops an inovative Blue Point tool?

I have a few Blue-point tools that I bought off the truck thru the years. They were all "new" designs at the time. What happens when Snap-On drops them from their system? Do they keep the patents and just not produce them? Once upon a time I found a set of 3 of the chain drive extensions on...

    Craftsman Wall Cabinet - Pictorial

I posted some pictures of this in the 2016 Garage Sale thread, and had requests for more pictures and a scan of the literature. I found this on Craigslist and jumped at the chance to have this piece of 50ies Americana. I also collect Craftsman Tools, so it fits nicely. I'll post more pictures...

Need help trueing my Dalton six lathe

I have a Dalton "six" metal lathe that I purchased on a mentor's estate sale. I'm having issues because the chuck isn't spinning true. If I remove the chuck and check the spindle it's great, so i'm guessing it's the mating surface of the chuck or the threads that are cocking it. Any ideas how to...

    This year's pilgrimage to HJE

We took our daughters 4 and 7 to Lego Land in Kc Sunday and then I got to go to Harry Epstein's this morning for a bit of tool hunting. When traveling with girls they always need to potty, so we ventured "up" stairs to the restroom. I explored the upper stories quietly for half an hour. It's a...

Click type versus electric torque wrenches

I have a 1/2" digital torque wrench and a clicker style. My question is how accurate is a digital if you can't stop versus a click style that bypasses? Case in point, I was installing a flywheel on a tractor and holding it with a turner in one hand and torquing the bolts to 110 ft/lbs with the...

    Commercial garage door opener?

I need to wire the opener in my pole shed. Does it need to be a dedicated circuit? can it be plugged into an outlet? It's a 1/3hp Lift Master, hanging from open trusses, attached to a 19'-6" x 12' door.

I can't get attached pictures to open on my Dell tablet

I have a tablet running Windows 8 pro. When I click on a picture in a post to enlarge it, the window pops up, but the wheel just spins. Is it Windows 8 or my tablet that are doing this? I don't have any problems doing it from my laptop.

TPMS tools; who else uses them?

My wife's GMC Acadia showed the left front tire to be low, but after looking at the tires, the right rear was the problem. The dealership installed the new tires and I'm pretty sure their tire guy has no idea what the tire pressure monitor is for. I have a shop at the farm and we needed to get...

Need ideas - my 7050AX Tire machine won't breaking bead

I have a Coats 7050AX and the bead breaker is having issues. When I hit the pedal it pulls in to the tire but has no pressure to actually break the bead. It seams like it is bypassing, but I don't know why. The air is coming from the valve when it stops.

Kokem Tools - Are they available in the US?

I get Professional Distributor magazine and requested a Kokem catalog after seeing a few of their tools. They are from Japan. They have a breaker / speeder like what Snap-On used to offer that I want for chaning tires. Does anyone know where to get Kokem tools here in the states. I have tried...

Do rubber tire / tube patches have a shelf life?

I have a large assortment of unused tire patches still in boxes that are close to 6 years old. They have been in a cabinet and look ok, can I still use them? They are Camel adhesive patches that have the peel off skins and get glued on.

Slightly Used Coats 7050AX - What's it worth?

I picked up a tire machine from a shop in Omaha a few weeks ago. It's not the prettiest, but seems to be mechanically sound. I put air to it before loading it to verify everything worked. After getting it home and unloaded, I made a list of fittings, and easily removed parts that were missing...
