    Thoughts on angle grinders?

I've been happy with my Milwaukee M18 Fuel and a 8ah battery. But I've got multiple batteries so once the one I am using depletes, I throw it back on the charger and use another thats already good to go. Second cubitron discs, those things are amazing.

How many of you get by with a single bay

First house we bought had a single car garage; 10 feet wide and 27 feet deep. It was a chore to do any work in there, but it was certainly better than laying in the dirt/street. We lived there for 7 years. Our latest house has a 2-car, and I am finding that to be too small now. If you have the...

Any Welder recommendations for a newb

Started my welding with a small lincoln 3200hd. It was limited to 120v and fine up to 1/8" but that was about its max without doing multiple passes. I never did run flux core thru it though. I sold it and bought a Lincoln 211i early last year. 240v has a lot more omph. I've been happy with it so...

At home car tire balancer, Harbor Frieght

A friend bought one a few years ago. We balanced a 35" tire. Took the tire off the balancer, put it back on the balancer, and the reading kept changing no matter what. It ended up in the garbage that afternoon.

    Between 485 & 705 SQ/FT tworley's garage

The bench has found its new home. For some reason though, I have grown fond of the old steel bench. I may try and find a spot for it still. As mentioned, I'll skin the top with 1/8" steel soon. I bought retractable castors for the bench too to help move it around the garage.

    Help with heating garage!

I'd start by insulating the 2 walls that are open. That will help a bunch. I had a similar setup; 1 wall finished/insulated as it was a shared living space wall, an insulated ceiling (bedrooms above) and 2 open walls. My garage temps matched the ambient temps outside. Since insulating with...

How Many Receptacles on Each Circuit?

When I wired my 500 sq ft garage I installed a 20 amp outlet every 4'. Each wall is on its own circuit and protected by a gfci. Its very few outlets for a circuit, but I wanted it set up that way. In two years, I've used every single outlet for one reason or another. Other circuits include the...

    Between 485 & 705 SQ/FT tworley's garage

Im like a bumble bee, the torque box has been put on hold because i decided to build a new work bench. The current steel one works, but its shallow and short. This follows the eaa build plans, but I did 8' long, 38" tall and 30" deep. I still need to put on the lower shelf and the top will be...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

My chop saw trigger quit working, I had to press/hold it just right for the motor to kick in before it finally quit. I took it apart and noticed the momentary switch was grungy looking. Took it apart and hit it with a sanding block to get it shiny. Put it back together and now it fires up every...

Lennox furnace "burner failed to ignite"

Overdue update. We had a couple cold snaps and the heater failed to ignite again. After resetting, tapping on the valve, it fired up again. So, I installed the replacement valve about a month ago and its been running fine ever since. I did take the old one apart, but I didn't notice anything...

Anyone collect vintage Taps and dies?

I've had these for probably 15 years now. I found them in my grandmas basement when we were cleaning out her house after she died. She had a husband who died in the early 80s. Only recently did I actually pull them out and clean them to see what they were. Its a mixture of Brubaker & Bros...

    110v Electric Garage Heater ?

I have a 240v 6k watt heater in my 20x25 garage. Its about $8/day (0.12kwh) to run if I am running it on 6k high. My walls/ceiling are insulated, but not the garage door. I can get the air to 70°, but some of the steel surfaces are still cold to work on. My tinker time is on the weekends, so I...
